85th anniversary of Batman set revealed
Posted by Huw,
A future gift with purchase has been revealed on the Australian LEGO.com pages which celebrates Batman's 85th anniversary.
Don't get too excited, though, because it's just 40748 Batman 8 in 1 in a fancy box with a folded-up pamphlet that appears to illustrate the different versions of the figure.
There's no word yet on when 40726 Limited Edition Batman 85th Anniversary will be available or what you'll need to spend to get it, but given that the official day to mark the occasion is 21st September, I think it's fair to assume it'll be on or around then.

Da da da da da da da da! Lazy!
This seems like an April fools' joke LOL! At least it's just a GWP and they're not selling it for $40 or so.
... Brickheadz are still a thing?

yes unfortunately. People enjoy ugly stuff, apparently

At 85, Batman doesn’t give up.
I'm not that into Brickheadz but I picked up a couple that I liked. Not all Birckheadz are created equally beautiful.
Another completists challenge. I bought two of the original 8 in 1's but we'll see what the minimum spend is. I am not sure what they do with some of these pictures the Magazine gifts seem to do the same thing they somehow light it so it looks a different colour. Very Bright Blue

People enjoy stuff I don't, apparently.
There, I've corrected if for you.
You all really are minifig stans and Brickheadz hater huh,
I will buy this + 1 copy of 8 in 1.
Well, the lack of proper building instructions stopped me buying the set. So free with, for instance, a pre-order of the Batmobile would be good especially if, as well as the fancy box, they include the 'fancy' printed building instructions that they should have done in the first place!
Been holding off on buying the BTAS cityscape. Hope it meets the threshold for this GWP.

"I bet all the design effort went into making sure piece re-usage was such you can only build one version at a time."
Give the designer more credit than that; including enough pieces to build more than one at a time would have meant it would have to go for more, and the designers are given a price point to shoot for. If there was a decision to make sure that only one at a time was possible with one set (and that wouldn't surprise me), that decision was made at a higher level.
@Ridgeheart said:""WHY WILL YOU NOT LOVE THIS 8-IN-1?"
Because it's not that. It's 1-in-1, packed with seven grievous lies. You can repackage this as often as you like, that's not going to make those lies any more true."
You're right, I will now stop buying Creator 3-in-1. Oh, wait, no I won't!
I just don't understand this set, and I am a huge batman fan, so I AM the target audience. It's sold on 09-21, so it doesn't coincide with the new Batmobile release. It's only been two months since the last one was released, so it's not like it's replacing a retired set. It offers nothing new other than (perhaps) premium packaging...I already bought my two sets of 40748 plus got all the ancillary parts from my local Bricks and Minifigs to make all 8...
I just don't get it...it seems like its just put out there for speculators/scalpers to try to resell a (possibly) hard to find set.
@ohrmazd
Seems like this version should’ve been one of those SDCC or NYCC comic con exclusives.
Like they want this Gw/P to coincide with Batman Day?
Not sure why this with this packaging wasn’t done for the original release. I’m a little baffled too.

Well Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. So thing you might find "ugly" can be beautiful for someone else. "
I actually did make a Batman Beholder…
I was hoping that the Batcave with the stupid window would be an outlier. Then they produced the BtAS backdrop and my expectations for LEGO DC sets plummeted further. Now this. This debacle is the answer to the challenge "LEGO, tell me you hate making DC sets without telling me you hate making DC sets."
As I haven't bought the initial release of this set I'm hoping the threshold isn't insanely high and or limited to specific items for this GWP as I would like to add these figures to my Batman collection. Fingers crossed it's reasonable and if not, guess I'll nab the original release.
Edit: grammar
And people say Star Wars GWPs are bad...
Wow, A TLBM Brickheads AND miscellaneous parts!? WOOOOO!
Ok but seriously, depending on the threshold, I might try and get this.

Did you forget about the new Batmobile?

I'm going to have a heart attack and die of not-surprise.

I’ve just bought the Batman Animated Series cityscape - and I’ve never watched any of the animated series! - and it’s a beautiful and brilliant set!

I would actually recommend the show! I think the episodes are all free on YouTube. I looked up scenes for BTAS when the skyline was first unveiled. I wanted to see if it truly had a red sky. When I saw that they had complete episodes, I started watching them. I have fallen off, but I easily watched at least 18 episodes.

With minimal effort, you could make 4 at once (just need inside parts)
Guys, it's a gift with purchase, but you're not required to buy anything. Brickheadz has its fans, otherwise LEGO wouldn't be pumping out so many of them. It is an odd choice to repackage a newly released set as a GWP, though. Would've made more sense to just do a single Batman build, like the 1939 original as a GWP.
@lemish34:
It's one of the best animated series of all time. If you love Batman, that's an essential watch.
It is not a GWP but rather insiders rewards set, I've just redeemed this reward with 3000 insiders points, now need to see what sets to get for the order to ship out.
I've just ordered mine. It is 3000 insider points ( equivalent to £18.75) which is cheaper than 40748 (£24.99) if you have the points

I have just done the same. In Spain 2000 insider points are equivalent to 20 euros which is also cheaper than 25 euros for the 40748, plus the extra stuff that make it even more collectible.
