Two new Sonic the Hedgehog sets announced for 2025
Posted by Huw,
During Sega's 'Sonic Central' livestream today two new LEGO sets were revealed: 77001 Sonic's Campfire Clash and 77003 Super Shadow vs. Biolizard. They will be released early in 2025.
View pictures and read descriptions after the break.
77001 Sonic's Campfire Clash will allow fans to join Sonic as he relaxes in front of a cosy campfire, before protecting the Chaos Emerald from the villainous clutches of G.U.N. Beetle and G.U.N. Hunter. This 177-piece set will throw you straight into the action as you launch Sonic in his speed sphere at the enemy robots to rescue Tocky and collect some Gold Rings along the way.
77003 Super Shadow vs. Biolizard tasks fans with the mighty challenge of defending the Space Colony ARK from Biolizard. With the help of Super Sonic, Super Shadow and the speed sphere launcher, find Biolizard’s weak spots, while trying to avoid his stud launchers and powerful jaws and retrieve the Chaos Emerald before it’s too late. The only question left to answer is, who’s faster, Super Shadow or Super Sonic?

If you'd told me 10 years ago we'd have LEGO Sonic I'd have trouble believing you, if you told me we'd have LEGO Super Shadow and Biolizard I'd have dismissed you outright. What a time to be alive. Now LEGO, get on Crash Bandicoot please.
I wonder if the product description for campfire clash will us the G.U.N. branding or "re-name it"
Also first angry sonic?
I like that Biolizard set! Might be my first LEGO Sonic purchase.
Holy crap this is amazing.
First of all, it's awesome to see GUN robots instead of Badniks
But that Biolizard is AMAZING, I'm surprised just how right it feels, sometimes I feel Lego struggles to build reptile based creatures without specialized molds AND we get Super Shadow!
This is a good little wave, I was not at all expecting SA2 based sets at all
I hope we get a set with GUN Soldiers in the future
My Shadow the Hedgehog minifig needs people to kill.......
Super Shadow vs. Biolizard is probably the best set so far in terms of game accuracy with as few compromises as possible - The Death Egg Robot had the weird trans-black canopy, the Tornado was alright but the workshop didn't really resemble the game versions, Shadow's bike suffered from prints not being mirrored, the Master Emerald shrine was too small and lacked the titular rock, and the Egg Drillster has extreme liberties. The only real Legoisms of the set are the Speed Sphere launcher and the stud shooters, which I can give a bit of a pass since they're shooting trans-pink rounds, which seems like a direct reference to the gross reptile/fish eggs that would spawn in the boss fight.
The campfire set looks passable but that GUN Hunter has a lackluster build, appearing very bald without its "helmet."
It'll be nice to get a slammer for relatively cheap - even if the gimmick doesn't work very well.
already my favorite sonic set. both the lizard and yellow sonic look pretty cool (lizard more-so).
... Sonichu?
Glad they’ve made most of the characters people would want pretty quickly, i just wish i wasn’t so poor
I love the sonic face print in 77001! To be honest, these may be the first sets that I ever preorder...
Anyways, I hope that this theme continues to the point of us getting sets based on Sonic Rush. I would commit unspeakable acts to get minifigs of Blaze and Dr. Eggman Nega.
It's cool seeing them finally making sets based on specific scenes from the games, rather than just generic scenes with the same aesthetic from the games.
Granted, Super Sonic and Super Shadow didn't technically fight the Biolizard, they fought it as the Finalhazard. Shadow fought the Biolizard on his own. But, eh, close enough.
Nice pair of Sonichus
Guys, it says "Super Sonic" in the article, a feature of the games since 1992, the "Sonichu" comments aren't justified-- (though I have heard one adult IRL that only unlocked Super Sonic in Sonic 2 via cheat code as a kid refer to it as "Yellow Sonic" so that shouldn't be *too* surprising with the average age demographic of Brickset users-)
Adore how these sets switch between completely original lego-only creations to the Most game-accurate scenes possible between waves, sometimes within the same wave itself - it'd be like if Star Wars sets alternated between UCS ships and the death star canteen every couple months, it's bizarre but also somehow fantastic??

You don't have to tell me twice. But back in the stone age...
That Biolizard looks quite cool, even though I have no idea what it is.

"Sonic doesn't exactly LOOK relaxed. Maybe his campfire clash is one of the soul - maybe Sonic feels he has to go fast due to unrealistic societal standards."
Would you be relaxed if a bunch of dangerous robots crashed your camping trip? This was supposed to be his vacation!
Kinda disappointed that they reused Super Sonic's expression from 76999. IDK why but the open-mouth expression doesn't suit him in that form.
Still look cool though! These are getting me even more hyped to see Sonic the Hedgehog 3 in cinema this December!
I REALLY hate the "dreamzzz pipes" elements. They look so out of place on every set.
The rundown here is pretty easy! Everything here is based on something in the 2001 Dreamcast game Sonic Adventure 2, except for the campfire (which I'm not sure is based on anything specific).
Calling the Guardian Unit of Nations and their robots "villainous" is a little questionable, but they did serve an antagonistic role when they were first introduced. They made scattered reappearances in the early-to-mid-00s and then vanished for a while, and more recently made their live-action debut in the second live-action movie under the leadership of Commander "Olive Garden Guy" Walters.
The Biolizard is a product of Project Shadow. It didn't work out especially well, and Gerald basically threw it out and started over to instead create the ultimate lifeform we all know and love, Shadow the Hedgehog (with help from the alien Black Doom, as revealed in Shadow's self-titled 2005 video game). In SA2 the Biolizard's both the penultimate and final bosses; this set seems to be intended to represent the latter (also known as "Finalhazard"), as you fought it as a tag team of Super Sonic and the sadly-less-punny Super Shadow.
I don't ever expect to extend my Sonic collection beyond 30676, but those are nice builds. @Alia_of_AGL: Now you've got me wondering what the average age of a Bricksetter is. Of course, the answer to that question depends on whether you mean man average, median average, or mode average. But I'm forty-four, and I know that there are people here old enough to be my parents. On the other hand, I also know there are people young enough to be my children, and I believe @CapnRex101 isn't to far out of that age group.
@Metroidman97 I don't think Lego would make a full-size Space Colony ARK to shove up that thing's ass--
For people confused what the Biolizard is, the short version is that it's an engineered biological abomination built as part of the research project that ultimately resulted in the creation of Shadow the Hedgehog, and the end of Sonic Adventure 2 has this thing be unleashed inside of a space station to send it crashing to Earth as a doomsday plan from its long-dead creator. First Shadow fights it inside the station, but then it teleports outside of it and mounts itself on its broken Death Star laser, which requires Super Sonic and Super Shadow to destroy it and stop the station's descent before it kills everyone.
Wait, which one is supposed to be the G.U.N. Beetle? Is it the one that looks nothing like a beetle, or the other one...that still looks nothing like a beetle?

Something tells me that they are joking...

It's the small floating one. Source: I have no life.
@b2_O
Oh I'm sure a good chunk of them are, it's just not funny, and the person who created Sonichu is an actual convicted monster.

Sonic also fought biolizard in the 3DS version of Generations... for some reason.

Not to mention a popular low-hanging fruit for lazy Edgy Internet Personalities.

Very sorry, I didn't initially think of the person behind sonichu when reading those comments, and just thought that you were just taking them (the comments) seriously. I apologise.

Unfortunately, they were not convicted; the case was dismissed. But yes, still a monster.
Also, very minor nitpick, but its kinda weird how these sets are based on SA2, yet Sonic isn't wearing the soap shoes... Eh, it's fine though. Will still be picking these up ASAP!

I can only imagine what the aftermarket price of Soap Shoes legs would be if they did make them and either in an exclusive set or a convention exclusive, knowing both the absurd aftermarket prices of Cloud City Boba Fett and the original Soap Shoes Sonic plush...

Lego Ideas really opened the doors for a lot of new franchises.

Well, Sonic was in Lego Dimensions before the Ideas project, the Ideas project effectively was a follow-up call between companies that resulted in cross-promo for Sonic Superstars and now Sonic X Shadow Generations.
I'm glad this makes some people happy, even though I have little interest in it personally.
See? That wasn't so hard. Haters take note, next time Lego releases a set which may not have been specifically created with your unique preferences in mind.

Punctuation and capitalization will help. There's always ways to make money if you can write. Anyone can write if they practice.
There's always money in the banana stand. ;)
I thought I was knowledgeable of Sonic. I was wrong, I don’t recognize any of this.
I can't believe it's the ofiicial Lego product.

You're looking at Sonic Adventure 2 (2001) for this stuff—not only that but in the lizard's case, right at the end of the game. Easier said than done.
Personally I'm amazed they're doing this of all things as a set, although it makes some amount of sense because it does directly tie in with the new game. Looks alright though, and it's particularly heartening to see they've finally given up on those dreadful Badnik designs to give us some that at least have a passing resemblance to the ones from the games.
Easilly one of the best sets of the line, and if anyone is really inclinded to they can make the space colony ark to create the final boss fight.

Comes with free medallion. Don't put it on...
I can honestly say you are better off not knowing.

That's all the answer you need., @Mica86.
it's 2024, can the "Christorian" freaks not give CWC a rest already, the internet nightmare-panopticon has gone on long enough
All I know is that set has a loooot of useful orange pieces. Maybe I’ll buy it and give the figures to my nephew…

I came here for this comment.
It looks more like Sonic is trying to cook the chaos emerald to eat it than he's trying to protect it.
