Captain America Brave New World sets revealed!
Posted by Huw,
UK retailer Smyths Toys has revealed two Captain America Brave New World sets ahead of the film's premiere in February. There's no release date provided, but I suspect it'll be December 1st given they've been added to the site today.
The 233-piece 76292 Captain America vs. Red Hulk Battle will cost an astronomical £49.99 and 76296 Sam Wilson Captain America Buildable Figure £34.99. Those prices will probably equate to $54.99 and $39.99 in the USA.
Virew photos of both after the break.

A little bit of an urban legend for you guys: during the production of Back to the Future, head of Universal Sid Sheinberg suggested several modifications to the film, including changing the title to "Space Man from Pluto". Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale didn't know how to reject that suggestion without risking his ire. Producer Steven Spielberg intervened, sending Sheinberg a memo reading: "Hi Sid, thanks for your most humorous memo, we all got a big laugh out of it, keep 'em coming." Spielberg knew Sheinberg would be too embarrassed to admit his memo was to be taken seriously.
Seeing the price of the Red Hulk Battle reminded me of that little anecdote (Red Hulk looks cool though)
And as always, Lego reveals the movies. In this case, the second Falcon. But no one will ever replace the legendary Steve Rogers for me. But if Harrison Ford (as rumors say) plays Red Hulk, I'll definetely go to the movie. The sets seem alright though.
I mean, the spaceship is a quite a cool design, but HOW MUCH??? Is this going to be 2025's Hoopty (76232)?

It's a rhetorical question, isn't it?
The absurd price of that Red Hulk set makes me glad I got 76078 . Its vehicles were silly but it had four great figures (two bigfigs + two minifigures). It wasn’t cheap but compared to the forthcoming set it seems quite reasonable for what you got.
After having great printed wings on the CMF Falcon, I assume this set will be back to business as usual and use stickers.

MCU movies are bringing more stuff from the shows in. Falcon becoming the new Captain America was established in Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 also had mention of something that was first established in the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.
Do like the brick built wings, not quite as bulky and more sleek than past attempts, though why hasn't the CMF piece returned.
Price though....
How are they trying to justify that?
Buildable figure, not a fan of the helmet.
So, another Lego set, I will not buy, because of inflated prices. Maybe it's time to move on to an other hobby.
A bit of a nitpick but Smyths is an Irish retailer with branches in the UK (and Germany, France, etc.).

Not that I Disagree, but in the film Harrison Ford is playing Ross without a Mustache, there was even a joke about it in the trailer.

The second Falcon was “revealed” in Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
No unmasked head for Sam is a miss. Dual molded legs, though.
Wow.... Disney/Marvel tax is really getting ridiculous. £50 for a 223 piece set? Definitely the new Hoopty.
Glad I decided to stop collecting Marvel sets. Without the big-fig, this kind of set would of been $20 not long ago, so I can see where this could be $35 today when considering Red-Hulk's inclusion. The $55 price tag for this is just insane, even with a big-fig. Reminder that we got a Hulk in 2015's Hulkbuster set and that was only $30.
The Captain America vs. Red Hulk Battle set is confusing.......I see Captain America and I see a red Hulk, but both seem to be attacking that unnamed spaceship together? And that other dude.....he's just a spectator I guess?
This could have been a fine €10 set with just the parts mentioned in the name of the set....

Aint no way Lego would charge a set for just 10 bucks if it had a bigfig in it. Even lego sets with just ONE minifigure are above 10 bucks.
calling it "low effort" would be too much praise, even disregarding the price
Wow that Red Hulk must be made of real gamma-irradiated ABS to command such a price.
That’s absurd. I realize a big fig is expensive, but $35 max would be a good price. Not this insulting gibberish.
I blame Disney. They’ve practically murdered Hasbro, and other toy companies are treating them like they have the plague. But instead of giving customers what they want, they just dump high-priced garbage out.
Boo Eiger. Boo.

One minifig and a somewhat proper build....which this isn't. On its own, this Cap Murica is just a tiny step above a CMF.
Don't get me wrong, I do fully get they wouldn't ever release a set like that, as those bigfigs are meant as an incentive to buy these hilariously overpriced sets. But that's about the value I see when looking at the parts described in the name of the set.
I had to look up Ruth Bat-Seraph on Wikipedia:
"Sabra is the alter ego of the Israeli superheroine Ruth Bat-Seraph (Hebrew: ??? ??-???). She is a mutant, and serves as an agent to the Israeli secret service known as the Mossad."
Yeah, I kinda get why right now they didn't name the set after her, despite her (and the contraption she's in) being the biggest part of the set....
Looking at the picture, I thought to myself that with a small jet and four figures, it'll end up being a hundred dollars or so.
Then I checked, and well, with the Aussie dollar the way it is, yeah, I was pretty close.
Sigh.
Red Hulk is now our third Harrison Ford minifigure!

From what I have read I think I the film they are re-writing her backstory and character, to try to avoid any controversy
Kinda disappointed that they chose to call Sabra only by her given name and not by her superhero name, but that was a Disney desicion, not a LEGO desicion. I just hope that the film doesn’t completely remove her Israeli identity, which is essential to her character. If rhey do, I’m just going to take her out of this set and put her in my 4032-3

Seeing the prices 76078 goes for on the secondary market I sort of understand why Lego pricing is what it is. The desire is clearly there, so why not bank on it? It is pricing me out personally, but plenty of takers left apparently. Even with the silly stickers.

Rumours are that she will just be a Black Widow, which, if that is the case, why use the name/character at all. Unless it was too late in the process to change that (too many scenes of people saying her name to re film), and it was easier to cut out any backstory and film an extra scene or two with the new one.
Guess we will have to wait and see

I’ve had that rumor too. And to be fair, a lot of characters are referred to in the MCU by their given names: Natasha Romanoff, Clint Barton, pre-Captain America mantel Sam Wilson, etc. And I give them credit for them keeping her original Hebrew name (odd as it may be, translating to “Friend, angel daughter”… no one has that last name) and for having her be played by an Israeli actress (Shira Haas).
$50 for the plane would be expected of the massively overpriced 5-6+ sets, not a normal one. I guess it'll compete with the Hoopity and the X-Men jet for most overpriced Marvel set.
The whole Sabra thing is very frustrating. She's also a mutant, so with the MCU slooooowly introducing that concept, there's no harm in bringing her powers out.

If Disney really believe that this is going to cause any less of an outcry, they're immensely naive.
Imagine what would happen to future X-Men projects if the deranged anti-Israel crowd ever finds out which historical figures Magneto and Professor X are based on."
The story that Xavier and Magneto are based on MLK and Malcolm X has been de-mythologized in the last decade. It certainly fits given that they came out of the 1960s, but that's really a retroactive "this fits" take rather than something Stan Lee actually intended in 1962. There's a better case that the X-Men were just a convenient lift from DC Comics' Doom Patrol which was created a few years earlier and also included a leader in a wheelchair.
The box art is funny, it looks like they're flying well above the clouds but somehow Hulk is there too. I guess he can jump really high?

He just drank a ton of Red Bull.....why do you think he turned red?
Not to be too much of a Negative Nancy, but I really hate these construction figures. Do people buy them? Do kids like them? Is it just me?
The Red Hulk set is cool, but--like many have mentioned--ridiculously overpriced.
Not a bad spaceship, but I've lost interest in the MCU since Endgame. It would be interesting to check the parts list and price out a recolor, perhaps one that would fit with the current cross-theme Space initiative. With a single generic minifig, could you get the price under $20?
Nice to see that Sam finally figured out that he shouldn't leave the top of his head exposed!
The price seems about right to me, as I imagine the Hulk figures are expensive to produce.
It is the way Hulk sets have been going. Look at some previous Hulk sets:
2012's 6868 £50 1 Hulk plus three figures, a jet and a bit of building.
2014's 76018 £50 1 Hulk plus four figures and a building.
2017's 76078 £55 2 Hulks and 2 figures, plus two vehicles.
2024's 76290 £45 1 Hulk and 4 figures, plus built creature.
As a set price, £50 is not really out of line with pricing of previous sets. The PPP is terrible (and significantly worse than past sets) but that might be down to them assuming the build is big enough of a plaything, maybe has some expensive parts, and will still sell as a set at the price other sets have been. The loss compared to the 2012 set has been in the building parts. But do kids wanting to play with this type of toy care that much about that? 13 years on, it is a similar set just minus the building.
The head ruins the buildable figure. I was actually a little excited for this one but the dumb flight helmet looks absolutely atrocious. Yes, I do think attempting Anthony Mackie's face would have been a better choice. The set doesn't read as Captain America, it reads as Ant-Man wearing Iron Patriot.
Honestly part of me thinks they're avoiding calling her "Sabra" because the word (at least in America) is firmly cemented as a hummus brand, not the character, and introducing "Your New Superheroine, Grocery Store Hummus" would undercut the grounded tone Captain America movies go for. I think the nationalist undertones of the word's 1930s usage were probably a lesser factor in the movie's development, I don't know. This could be a whole lot of nothing and they give her the moniker at the end of the movie; they dragged their feet on calling Wanda Maximoff "Scarlet Witch" until the very end of WandaVision after she was already in four movies.
Another Harrison Ford minifig.

Prescient decision! As soon as I saw a bigfig in this set, I knew we were in for bad news on the pricing front. I still don't get how TLG thinks a bigfig is worth what a standard action figure costs, but that seems to be the premium on sets that include them.
You wouldn't like my prices when I'm angry.

I know about the MLK and Malcom X myth. But Magneto and Xavier are based on Menachem Begin and David Ben Gurion respectively, as confirmed by Chris Claremont. Which is what I was alluding to in my previous comment.

Well, more precisely, that's how *Claremont* read the characters, but Claremont wrote the characters nearly 20 years after they were created, so that's..."retcon" is not the right word, but it's a retroactive framing of what were initially two typical 1960s characters. Magneto's Holocaust origins didn't even first appear until Uncanny X-Men 150, long after his creation.
O actually really like the ship design, and the figures included are nice as well. But that price is just atrocious. Only on a heavy discount would I be buying this.
The buildable figure on the other hand looks amazing, especially with those giant wings and the price is pretty decent as well. I really like this outfit for Sam Wilson.
I'm kind of annoyed that the first cap minifig in a standard set that has dual molded legs is Sam Wilson. Could they not have done this sooner? Hopefully the next regular cap will get the same treatment, but I doubt it.
Regarding the set itself, it looks overpriced, and as always people are unrealistically lowballing what the price should have been. This looks more like $40-45 set with today's pricing and the bigfig. That being said I won't buy it regardless. The only MCU movie that mildly interests me is Thunderbolts(and the next Spider-Man).
Green hulk, red hulk, what will they think of next?
That red hulk set will probably go on sale soon after it releases.
Unless any is crazy enough to buy it.

See, I think TLG just took a page out of Has-been's book. Recently they showed off their figure for this movie. And much like here; a certain Gamma-goof drew eyes and ire. See Has just recolored a Mark Ruffalo Hulk, so it looks NOTHING like Harrison Ford...and fans aren't happy.
Also, so McDonald's spoiled Red Hulk last Summer. How? Well, the movie was supposed to be out last Summer, 'til Dismal/Morbid delay it...and McD's say "Um, Nooooo", and pointed out how they're fed up w/the delays from those guys; and thus sold the toys, put up the advertising, and whole bit.:)

Her backstory also includes her only realizing Palestinians are human beings after almost murdering children, so uh. Weird thing to get hung up on, to be honest."
That’s not true. I actually just reread the comic (Incredible Hulk 256 ). Hulk arrives in Tel Aviv in the hold of a cargo ship. Though the book calls the port Tel Aviv, that city does not have an industrial port so the setting is more likely Haifa, which is the major Israeli port city. Hulk evades the Israeli military who try to subdue him and eventually reverts to his Bruce Banner form. He observes an Arab Israeli boy stealing a watermelon from a street vendor. Bruce misdirects the vendor who has given chase to the street urchin. He then asks the boy where he is and the boy tells him that he is in Israel and gives him an extremely oversimplified and inaccurate two sentence background to the Arab/Israeli conflict (but hey, he’s a little kid and its a comic book, so it makes sense to not have too much nuance). The two strike up a rapport as they share the watermelon. Suddenly, and without warning, a pair of Palestinian terrorist show up and bomb the cafe outside which the two of them are sitting. The boy is killed by the blast. Bruce gets angry and turns into the Hulk. Sabra shows up to subdue him. It is her debut mission. She almost succeeds but Hulk flees into the desert, taking the dead boy with him. Sabra gives chase and finds him mourning the boy in the wilderness. Seeing the monster lament the child’s death helps her see the humanity of her enemies: both the Palestinians and the Hulk. It is an outright falsehood to claim that “Sabra’s backstory includes her only realizing Palestinians are human beings after almost murdering children.”

There's a better case that the X-Men were just a convenient lift from DC Comics' Doom Patrol which was created a few years earlier and also included a leader in a wheelchair."
I know about the MLK and Malcom X myth. But Magneto and Xavier are based on Menachem Begin and David Ben Gurion respectively, as confirmed by Chris Claremont. Which is what I was alluding to in my previous comment."
You have completely blown my mind!

"The Captain America vs. Red Hulk Battle set is confusing.......I see Captain America and I see a red Hulk, but both seem to be attacking that unnamed spaceship together? And that other dude.....he's just a spectator I guess?
This could have been a fine €10 set with just the parts mentioned in the name of the set...."
Aint no way Lego would charge a set for just 10 bucks if it had a bigfig in it. Even lego sets with just ONE minifigure are above 10 bucks."

One word: boycott
Yeeah no, i will not get your damn buildable figure. But Red Hulk big fig is desirable for me. Since i have no bigfigs in my collection. Could get Normal Banner but red color is just great

"Green hulk, red hulk, what will they think of next?"
Hulk was originally grey and has reverted back to that color a few times.
He's been blue at least twice.
There was a one-off story that had an orange Hulk for some reason."
We've had Grey Hulk, Green Hulk, Red Hulk, Blue Hulk, Old Hulk, Girl Hulk, Demon Lizard Hulk, Nexus Hulk, Professor Hulk, Microscopic Hulk, World-Breaker Hulk, Immortal Hulk, Red Girl Hulk, Totally Awesome Hulk, Cousin-Kissin' Cannibal Hulk, Spaceship Hulk, Greasy Biker Hulk, Child Hulk, Spider-Hulk, Wolverhulk, Captain Hulkmerica, Thor-Hulk, Iron Hulk, Fear Itself Hammer-Hulk, Ultimates Hulk...
It's suggested (and shown) that Hulk cannot die, and will outlive the very death of the universe. We're not going to run out of versions of Hulk any time soon."

"And as always, Lego reveals the movies. In this case, the second Falcon. But no one will ever replace the legendary Steve Rogers for me. But if Harrison Ford (as rumors say) plays Red Hulk, I'll definetely go to the movie. The sets seem alright though."
MCU movies are bringing more stuff from the shows in. Falcon becoming the new Captain America was established in Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 also had mention of something that was first established in the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special."
There's a second Falcon, named "Falcon". As I remember he isn't in MCU yet? Or is he from a show? I didn't watch a single show.

The second Falcon was “revealed” in Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Maybe it's a movie I didn't watch because I watched only to Endgame and some solo ones.
