Disney Advent Calendar - Day 16
Posted by MeganL,I think we're solidly in "The Princess and the Frog" phase of the calendar, since the last two days have been dedicated to that story. I think it's not unrealistic to expect something else from that movie today.
Indeed, we're not disappointed, as we have a lovely castle! I love the use of the gold crown pieces, and the colour scheme which is aligned with Tiana's dress (and present). You may even call it festive (if you squint) because at least it has some green!
We don't have the most festive builds in this calendar, but I do like the castle builds.

I was pleasantly surprised by this, it was quite a substantial build. We're three castles in, and we're only at the 3/4 point.
Now, I say this as someone who hasn't watched the relevant movie, but is it just me, or is the castle rather frog-like? Not just the pale green, but just the general design? I imagine that was a design touch by the film makers.

I don't think this is based on anything from the movie, which is set in 1920s New Orleans and is thus rather devoid of castles. Feel like the pond theme in this build is solely down to the Lego designers
I love it. The crowns remind me of old fairytale book illustrations of frog princes, and once again the colors are great.
It does remind me a bit of 41188 Breakout from the Goblin King's Fortress though due to the spring yellowish green masonry bricks and being a castle. The white parts (especially the columns) work great to make it look like a 'good' castle however and they remind me a bit of southern estates (whether that's a good thing is debatable).

There's always Swamp Castle IV. The one that didn't burn down, fall over, or sink into the swamp.

I can’t not see it as a top down view of a frog now!
Isn't this supposed to be Tiana's restaurant from the end of the film, rather than a castle? It's not a prefect match, given the limitations of the scale, but the general shape and colours are reminiscent, as are the crown shapings at the top of the chimneys.

Indeed, Naveen is Prince of Maldonia, but with the film taking place entirely in Louisiana, you don’t see any of the typical princely stuff.
@ThatBionicleGuy:
I would have thought no, because she was trying to buy an old mill, but it does appear to have Mississippi riverboat-style smokestacks.

I wondered why @Zordboy said it looked like a frog, but yeah, I see it too, now.
My daughters loved this one! It's definitely evocative of Tiana's Palace (the name of her restaurant in the movie) given the micro scale!
Nice build
