Spider-Man Advent Calendar - Day 4

Posted by ,

Though the newspaper rack from yesterday was not a bad model, I think the Spider-Man Advent Calendar is languishing a little behind others at the moment.

I hope things improve on day four...

A street scene is starting to emerge, as a corner lamppost with Peter's camera attached arrives today, ready to capture Spider-Man in action. Much like the newspaper rack, this model is fairly similar to those we find in the Marvel Modular Buildings, albeit simplified. I like how the camera is connected to a white 1x1 clip, as though webbed in place.

Unfortunately, the street signs are not decorated. I am not surprised by this, but I cannot help but think they probably would have been in the Harry Potter Advent Calendar, which usually seems to have a greater budget for unique printed pieces. Nevertheless, the green 1x3 tiles suffice and the banana peel is a fun addition too.

Overall - I wish the signage had been printed, but this lamppost still looks pretty reasonable.

This is turning to be a right day of shite.

This reminds me of a random corner in Atlanta. They don't believe in street signs either.

For if you WANT PICTURES OF SPIDER-MAN!

As far as Spider-Man related mini builds this is okay. And we get a banana peel too!
And there's green and white! And the minifig head in trans yellow is not too common AFAIK. So not terrible.

Glad to see the Spider-Man advent calendar is proving to be the same quality as the previous Marvel ones.

So far I am (mostly) satisfied with watching the kids open the Friends and City one.

Yeah, everything's relative. Compared to the usual fare from Marvel calendars, I think we came out ahead today.

I know I'm probably in the minority, but I'm really enjoying the Disney calendar. I wasn't expecting anything grand, I was expecting some minidolls and some lovely little builds using interesting pieces (with lots of colourful spares) and that's basically what I've gotten.

But I am excited for when the castles start getting a bit more castle-y, if you get me.

The Trans yellow headpiece is very common here in germany. Its part of the pab wall in some stores together with the original Lamppost seen in many modulars in white and in black. I own many many of these..

The cam could mean big brother is watching you. a bit scary though

Oof. I feel like the pole needs a 1x1 round plate with hole just to give it some height and body.

I'll have to see if I have any unused street sign stickers on that Lego City sticker set I got a few years ago.

The barest of references to the calendar’s subject matter but I’ll take it

There's no need for signs when every road is Peachtree Street.

That's a very short pole.

Preach about the peach! And, that makes it so much tougher. When I first moved there, we didn't have mobile phones with GPS either. It wasn't easy.
