Spider-Man Advent Calendar - Day 5
Posted by CapnRex101,
A small street scene has been assembled over the past couple of days, so maybe day five will introduce another piece of distinctive New York City scenery.
Find out after the break...
Near-identical versions of Venom have appeared in many Marvel sets recently, so he does feel like part of the New York City scenery! I would like to see an updated minifigure or simply a new facial expression soon, but that was never likely to happen in an Advent Calendar, realistically.
With that in mind, I think this is a decent figure. The stretched spider symbol on the torso looks great and Venom's sharp teeth seem as ferocious as ever, much though I would like a different face for the character. The scarf is also a fun addition, lending Venom some degree of seasonal theming, at least.
In addition, Venom is known for his voracious appetite in some depictions, so this hot dog is a fitting accessory.
Overall - It is hard to get excited about such a common minifigure, but Venom is a welcome counterpart for day one's Spider-Man.

Venom, known for wanting to eat Spider-Man's brains, is here seen eating Spider-Ham's intestines.
Anyway, since Christmas is for sharing: I gave the extra bits from Day 1 and 2 to allow Venom to also be shooting some webs. And I gave the spare scarf to Spidey, because spandex in the winter is going to be cold, so why not?
It hit me today that all the extra webs on Day 2 can actually be distributed to...oh, come on, you know who else is in the calendar from the box art.
Brains, kidneys, spleen, liver- so many delicious Christmas snacks!
I like the scarf. He might not be wearing pants (at least, on the outside), but at least he's keeping warm!
He looks like he's standing on a street corner just minding his business, which is very fitting
I like that the guy wearing the alien ooze that gives him superpowers still needs a scarf. What, no heater setting in a symbiote?

Sticky ooze doesn’t really have much use for clothing. Besides, it’s fire he has a problem with, not cold. Those things came from outer space, after all.
How many venom figures did we get in Lego form?
Venom loves giant sausages

Yeah, Green Goblin with webs!

Yes

""My name is Eddie Brock, and my superpower is 'living pants'. I'm an important and productive member of super-society!"
I mock the Brock, but I kind of like Venom. It's EVERY OTHER SYMBIOTE that I loathe with a passion so fiery and loud, you'd think I could eradicate their useless species with it.
I don't care if that includes Deadpool's symbiote cat."
Why does not surprise me that Deadpool has a symbiote cat?

Symbiotes (at least the Venom one) can look like street clothes, so the scarf might be part of the symbiote, and thus part of the heater setting.
Or it might not be a scarf at all, just someone's inside out skin that he is taking home.
I adore this minifigure.
