Star Wars Advent Calendar - Day 9
Posted by CapnRex101,Star Wars reached its 30th anniversary in 2007 and this also was a seminal year for LEGO Star Wars, introducing Battle Packs and one of the most iconic LEGO sets ever produced!
Encapsulating the year in a single item may be difficult...
Much though I love 7662 Trade Federation MTT personally, I have to acknowledge that 10179 Ultimate Collector's Millennium Falcon is the pre-eminent set of 2007 and the perfect source for today's vehicle. Naturally, the Millennium Falcon has appeared in Advent Calendars many times before and it seems to improve every time, although this version could divide opinion.
I find its shape quite effective and the trans-light blue engine looks fantastic, while many of the usual details are included, such as the cockpit, forward mandibles and rectenna. However, the proportions of the model from 75279 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar were perhaps superior. Either works for me though and this design is a bit sturdier.
Overall - This is another appealing rendition of the Millennium Falcon, offering plenty of detail for its size.

Here is today's ranking (in my opinion):
6. Spider-Man
5. Star Wars
4. Gisnep
3. City
2. Harry Potter
1. Friends
My estimation is that the Falcon is the most recurring Advent build, having appeared in 2011, 2015, 2017, 2020, and now 2024.
Most of them follow the same pattern of some kind of curvature around a SNOT build with some round plate or dome on top. 2020 (75279) was the outlier where a totally new technique was used to make the Falcon out of plates. This is the first year that a SNOT plate is used to make the cockpit, as oppposed to the use of a headlight brick. It works and I guess we'll see that going forward?
I can't decide what the best version of the Falcon is to date in Advent form. They're all a little different. Hard to say if any of them has nailed it yet.
What a piece of junk?!
Day 1: X-Wing - representing 7140 from 1999
Day 2: Princess Leia - representing her first appearance in 2000
Day 3: TIE Fighter - representing 7146 from 2001
Day 4: Super Battle Droid - representing its first appearance in 2002
Day 5: AT-AT Walker - representing 4483 from 2003
Day 6: Y-Wing - representing 7262 from 2004
Day 7: Minikit - representing LEGO Star Wars: The Videogame, released in 2005
Day 8: Jabba's Sail Barge - representing 6210 from 2006
Day 9: Millennium Falcon, representing 10179 from 2007
Agreed, an MTT probably would've been better
I don’t envy the designers that have to come up with a new mini Millennium Falcon each year.
I wonder if 10188 will be represented tomorrow in some way, that's probably the single most iconic Star Wars set to me.
EDIT: Oh wait, 2008 was also the year Clone Wars debuted, wasn't it... lol.
DOUBLE EDIT: Rogue Shadow would also be an awesome thing to represent, but it has stiff competition as it is.

This continues to be incorrect, as day six is definitely an allusion to 10134 Y-wing Attack Starfighter, not a re-re-release of a set from 1999.
Today is Minifig day!
6. Dis As stated before, downsized Minifig dolls of otherwise grown up characters is a lazy move (also in regular sets), therefore: (0 points today + 22 points previously earned = 22 points total)
5. SW They told me they fixed it!? (1+19=20)
4. Fr Something I have never noticed in a LEGO set before and an upgrade to every LEGO home (2+17=19)
3. SM Spider-Gwen is my favourite Spider-Man variant (3+21=24)
2. HP Susan's alternate face totally beats Gwen's expression (if there is one) (4+16=20)
1. City Hat check, sweater check, cap check, snow shoes check, hot drink check, cream check: ready for the christmas market! (5+19=24)
I think this little guy can be improved markedly with just spare parts from the calendar so far: Remove the two baby bows, place two dark grey 1x1 round tiles on the back stud of each black plate, light grey cheese slopes behind, light grey 1x1 plate opposite the cockpit.
Puts a docking ring on each side, and inline with the centre of the dish. If a transparent 1x1 round plate comes up in a future day, I'll try replacing the cockpit as well, the cone is a little long.

I think you could guess this one without looking at the instructions on the door!

So basically you want the Advent Falcon from 75184?
I doff my cap to the designer of this delightful model. Dare I say it but I think it surpasses the Cloud City model a couple of years ago.
I made my own mini Falcon to go in my LEGO Store (also representing 10179), and I think it’s smaller and more accurate in proportions.

Kinda! Though this one also has some points in its favour, like the wider engine, sleeker cockpit, neater sensor dish, and 2x2 round jumper on top for a little extra detail. One day... one day, we shall have the perfect advent-scale Falcon!
@UProbeck: Hehe, yeah, I could! Admittedly it took a moment because I open the calendar bleary-eyed, first thing in the morning, but it was an easy one to guess – especially given the year it represents.

At this scale, it's difficult to get the "perfect" Falcon. Assuming we're staying within the approximate 4x4 space that Advent Falcons occupy...well, the problem is that Lego gets increasingly abstract the smaller you make it. Unless we get some extremely detailed greebles in the future, we're always going to see these odd variants on Advent builds where they never quite hit perfection. Ships will get wider or thinner, taller or shorter, and always approximately their big-screen shape but never *quite* there.
There are a few builds that I think are due for a remake and I'd like to see the Falcon take a break for a bit. (Five Falcons in 14 years, so that's like a Falcon every three years.) We could use an updated N-1 Starfighter, for example, so yellow up the Mandalorian version that came out a year or two ago.

I could see it being either

That doesn't make much sense, 7262 is a rerelease of an old set. That's about as 2004 as the 20th anniversary Minifigures are 2019, arguably even less.
Thanks for compiling this list in each day's article though!
Another budget version of the set that I can buy!
Very nice model and a great, involving building experience for something so small. One of the highlights so far for me.
For some reason - heard of this before but never experienced it myself - there were two bags within slot number nine. I suspect one of the adjoining slots (16 or 17) probably is empty then, at least I will know where to look for the missing bag rather than it being the other way around.
Anyone else here encountered the same issue in this, or previous, advent calendars?

Nope. Cap'n's right (as he is 99.999%).
The determining factor is also the most controversial one, the 1x2 yellow jumper on the cockpit of the AC model. 7262 lacks any such distinctive color block whilst 10134 clearly includes a color block.
Also, as many others have stated, 7262 isn't REALLY a set from 2004, but merely a re-release.
Good job with the list, kid. AFOLs are keen on lists. But, they like 'em tidy and technically correct.... THE BEST KIND OF CORRECT!!!

One other point in favor of 10134 is that, aside from the minifigs (which are just minifigs, and severely lacking in ability to represent more than just minifigs unless you print it on a sweater), all of these have represented whole sets, yes? 7262 is only half Y-Wing. It’s also half TIE Advanced, which would not be represented by this model at all.
Also, now I wish all the minifigs had sweaters with prints that reflected the set that earned them entry into this calendar. And the Super Battle Droid is only wearing its, uh, manufacturing date suit.
Yeah, but what about the first Battle Packs?
Idk how they could have alluded to them, but I think thy could have been attempted
I think today's has two things on 75279's version. One, the engine glow is wider, so more accurate in my opinion. Two, this one actually manages greebling with the cheese grater slopes on the mandibles.

A figure that was included in one, or a microscale version of one of the small vehicles would work for a battlepack.
@TheOtherMike:
But then you get back to the question of whether or not they made any minis that only represent part of a set, excluding the minifigs.

Well, the 7140 homage didn't include the cart. I mean, sure, the X-wing was obviously the far greater part of that set, but a greater part is still a part...
Who cares where the Y wing comes from - no need to start a firestorm over something significant. Put that effort into ranting about how overpriced upcoming start wars sets are, or how the reviews here sometimes have pretty naff pros
