That blue gear is still really distracting. I don't know if it is on the actual bike or not, but it sticks out like a sore thumb.
I do like the suspension though.
Does that gear exist in other colors? Black would work much better here than blue
what a shame the old Technic flex system is not still around, would be ideal for those brake cables to the callipers, appreciate they would be hydraulic but working would be better than for show.

I believe this is part 69779 and it only comes in this color so far. But they could have used 18575 instead, and this one has black version.
Lol @ that blue gear. Lego just has to be taking the piss out of its fans by this point.

Yes there was no excuse not to use that one here and I'll be swapping it out on mine.

I see this as an 'obvious but minor flaw', which is a common technique when dealing with clients of designed things. Everybody sees this obvious 'flaw', so they focus on it to point out the 'bad'. If it wasn't there, people would find 20 other things to complain. Because people generally like to complain and like to find 'issues'.

I don't think people are being picky here. I'm sure that even my 70 years old mum would ask what does that blue button do? Luckily is an easy fix like others said unlike replacing all he pins and bars from 10327 to get it just right.

I don't know your mum but I'm way younger than her and i didn't thought of it until reading the comments. Im not a motor guy, but I have soft spot for lego models of Motorbikes. I have zero problem with technic stuff being visible.

Just talking for myself: I don't like to complain, I would just rather see (near) perfect sets. And considering the prices Lego is asking, is it really that weird that people have higher expectations?
As for this Panigale....I do have the small one and despite a few minor flaws I really like that one. I kinda fail to see 3-4 times the value here. Sure, it's bigger, but apart from a 3rd gear it doesn't add much else. At least it isn't such a sticker fest like the BMW.....
Comparing this to the real bike, LEGO has done a great job recreating the shape of the real bike.
Looking at the cowl portion behind the front wheel it seems LEGO should have not left so much empty space. Oh well, still a must purchase for me. Wonder what GWP will be available the week this is released? Overall this bike is very impressive.
Very nice. I won't get it but I know a friend who will.

Yeah I sort of agree. Thats what Icons are for, perfect display sets focused on aesthetics. Where as Technic blends that with functions and mechanics too.
Although it (blue cog) does stand out, it does have a working gearbox and makes construction easier too. Credit where it is due. It looks awesome for technic
Although with an extra 1000 pieces this is at larger scale that 42107, the thumbnail photos appear to give the impression similar size wheels, suspension etc.
To those saying that gear is available in black, that's the beveled version of the 20-tooth gear, which has more side friction than this non beveled version. It will often work just as well, but it's not the same element. The beveled one is a fraction of a millimeter wider, for some reason. Also, there appears to be a slight difference in tooth shape. If you replicate this mesh between a 16-tooth gear with clutch (red) using both the dark azure flat gear in this set and the more common beveled gear (most commonly black or tan), you'll find that the beveled gear meshes less cleanly with the 16-tooth clutch gear. It has a bit more friction and makes noise as the teeth meet. This appears to be due to the tooth profile, not the overall width.
This holds true with normal (usually medium stone grey) 16-tooth gears as well.
For a more significant compatibility variance, use the flat (blue) and beveled black 12-tooth gears to mesh with a standard 24-tooth gear. You'll find that in this case the beveled gear works significantly less well, due to the flat gear once again having a fraction of a millimeter more width.
(These tests done on a regular technic beam grid, not using any system bricks/plates for partial unit spacing. Lock the gears in on both sides with beams to minimize axle/pin flex and get the clearest results.)
tl;dr: the non-beveled azure gear spins more freely in this gear arrangement than the beveled black one would
