What is your favourite minifigure of 2024?

Posted by ,

The nominations for your favourite minifigure of 2024 were closer than ever before, reducing 998 possibilities to fifteen deserving finalists.

Based on the distribution of nominations, I think this poll could be extremely close, so make sure to cast your vote below...

What is your favourite minifigure of 2024?

Other minifigures that narrowly missed out include Gambit from 76294 X-Men: The X-Mansion and ARC Trooper Fives from 75387 Boarding the Tantive IV.

Which minifigure did you vote for? Let us know in the comments. The results will be published in the New Year.

By in Austria,

I missed out on the Vampire Knight :( had the old figure as a kid and tried to find this new version but didn't manage to do it…

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Very CMF and licensed heavy selection, kind of a shame there are not more figures from more "conventional" themes like Ninjago or even Dreamzzz.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Nien Numb, but i do like the dragon born figs and the humanoid eagle fig. I hope they make more of them in other colorways.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Ice Planet Explorer might've gotten my vote if it had the proper Neon Orange for the accessory, but alas...

Gonna give this one to Ocarina of Time Link. The minifigs (and minibuilds) of that set are singlehandedly the only thing making me doubt my choice about skipping it, and this particular minifig is the most enticing of them.

A lot of excellent choices in this poll though! Film Noir Detective, Jedi Vader, Sauron, and Orion are also choices that I had considered.

Gravatar
By in Albania,

Wow, so many CMF made it to the final poll! Speaks a lot about this year’s quality of all three series.

Since my nomination was Orion, that’s where my vote goes :-)

Gravatar
By in United States,

As a lover of film noir movies like the Maltese Falcon, I went with the detective.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Had to go for Sauron but it was really hard to decide between him and the Vampire Knight

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Noir Detective all the way! Our first proper Trilby hat, and also proper trenchcoat print.

I just wish hed been a normal yellow minifigure to be more versatile. Like that face couldve been cool if it was regular yellow.

The grumpy older colleague of Ace Brickman perhaps?

Gravatar
By in France,

not an easy choice with my 2 favourites in here

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

None... The only minifig with any purpose is one with a chain screwed into their head!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Really hoping Ice Planet Explorer wins. Not only because that was my primary nomination, but because redheaded ladies won the last two "favorite minifig" polls, and I want to keep that streak going!

Gravatar
By in Finland,

Blacktron 2 mutant? (not in the list)

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Sauron really should have had long arms and legs, but I still think he's the best minifig this year.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Happy to see the detective appear in the poll.
That's the one I voted for.

You can easily swap the head, but it's nice to place him as is in any scene and be on the case. :-)

Had he been made for 10246 Detective's Office, it probably would have given the final push to buy it as my first modular building.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I don't mean to be a downer, but ... WOW ... this is selection is LACKING.
There are so many great figures in Dreamzzz alone.....

Gravatar
By in United States,

Sauron by a mile for me. If you couldn't tell by name I'm a massive Lord of the Rings fan.

I'm personally not very bothered that he doesn't have long arms or legs, what others me more is the inability to move his head due to the single piece.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Ice Planet Explorer for me.....I usually don't care much for minifigs, but that Space CMF series still is very tempting....

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

A shame the red fish is not in the picture for the detective. That aspect had me ROFL.

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

Surprised the City "remake" of Johnny Thunder didn't make the cut.

Gravatar
By in United States,

So many great choices, but like the one ring my vote kept finding its way back to Sauron.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Too many to choose between. The CMF's this year were top notch. Though one of my personal favourites, the series 25 'Fierce Barbarian', forever known as Red Sonja to me, didn't make the cut.

Also surprising that the Alien Beetlezoid and The Lady of Pain didn't make the list.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Sauron and Nein Nunb are both long overdue, but Sauron is more critical to his storyline.

But then it wouldn’t be noir…

@rslotb:
Fish is part of the set, not part of the minifig.

Exactly. A perfect minifig is one that makes you wonder about its backstory. The Blacktron 2 Mutant is a great example of this, as is the Tourist Alien from the same CMF series.

The M-tron minifig in this series is good, but it's just a regular minifig.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

The CMF have been outstanding this year but I want to shout out the D&D line in particular for going above and beyond and making sure you can mix and match and reuse the parts to make your own figures. Please do more of that!

To me the best minifig is the most well designed, detailed with balance, and desirable. I have no idea why the alien tourist would be any of those as it reuses parts and is a direct rehash of an earlier minifig. Sure, it's a fun idea for a minifig. But compare it to the Imposter, who introduces new parts, does something never done before (except maybe the Kraang minifigs arguably) and has a similar humor to it.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

YES! Glad to see Nüwa on the list, for those moaning about not enough non-licensed figs on the list, Nüwa is by far my favourite figure from this year. The elaborate stone mounting is also really cool. I implore you to consider her for a vote.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Any from Animal Crossing gets my vote.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

No Lady of Pain? Bummer. Sauron for the win in her absence then.

Gravatar
By in United States,

With two Link Minifigures in the poll, I don't think either will win, but I'll be curious to know what place the two would take if their votes were combined.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

Amazing year for minifigs. Voting for Nüwa, which I don't have yet but planning to snag in 2025 <3

Gravatar
By in United States,

I want to vote for Sauron, but I'm still stuck on that minifigure being imperfect. He looks cool but desperately needed the taller leg piece, and I don't love how making his shoulder armor and helmet all one mold kind of makes it look like he's melting.

Had to go with the Vampire Knight, I've had him sitting on my desk since the start of the year and he's just perfect!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Dang, this was a great year for minifigs. Every one of these is great and I can think of probably a dozen more I'd add.

Ice Planet Explorer gets my vote, but know that I wish I could *also* vote for Film Noir Detective and Aarakocra Ranger, and also New Johnny Thunder and Knuckles and the criminal from 60415 and...

Gravatar
By in United States,

The Vampire Knight is excellent and it got my vote. I do love the detective minifig as well.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

M-Tron Powerlifter for the win for me; great printing, use of parts, slips to a 'A-' for the fact it doesn't have a visor (printing a visor doesn't count TLG). Runner-up (and NOT on the list): Android Nurse, as I've wrote before, the character looks great whether or not the kids 'in tow'...but really most of the SPACE CMF should be applauded, and even copied for other themes...although maybe that might dilute what makes CMF set so fun...Now if I can just understand how 'Orion' got on this list as:
a) He doesn't have a bow, and
b) they should've just made this guy:
https://dc.fandom.com/wiki/Orion_(New_Earth)
(DC CMF2 in 2025...)

While I like it and own a pile of them, the Alien Tourist doesn’t make me wonder about its backstory. I’ve seen all four MiB movies.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Link. Ocarina of Time. Vote accordingly.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Not a single X-Man in here? Ö Aw...
In that case, Jedi Vader gets my vote :)

Gravatar
By in United States,

I’m glad that we got a Sauron, truly I am, and I bought the set, even was one of the lucky ones to get a Fell Beast before it sold out. But the figure could have been better, could have had long arms and legs, could have separated the helmet from the shoulder piece to allow for turning, it was good just not great. Had to go with ol’ Basil, long live the Fright Knights!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Vampire Knight for me. It's just a great minifigure design, and the fact that it's a remake of a classic figure is the cherry on top! I was lucky enough to find one out in the wild.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Tough selection. I'd vote at least 10 of them as first.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Nuwa for sure, she's so cool and elegant. And I'm a sucker for that light green and teal color combo.

Link (Ocarina of Time) is my second choice, as I adore the franchise.

FYI, before the Pick a Brick service paused, I had her torso and snake legs added to my cart! I'm unsure if the head and hair pieces were also available, but that would probably be the ideal way to get her.

Really hoping that they're still available when the service returns!

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Huw - You forgot to add one: "all of the above" :-)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Dragonborn!!!

I am bummed that the upcoming ninjago sets aren't using the same mold but instead the weird head gear piece. Why?

Would love to get dragonborn of many different colors. Maybe down the line?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Nien Nunb was my first choice; glad to vote for him here (long overdue, like others have said)!

That being said though, sad to see my easy second choice (another long overdue character) was not one of the finalists, https://brickset.com/minifigs/idea199/belle-minifigure

Already predicting Sauron's going to win.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I have to go with Ocarina of Time “Link - Bright Green Tunic.” The number of dual-molded pieces for this figure puts it on such a higher level of craftsmanship than any of the other figures listed, without relying on a “cool headpiece” as the main draw.

Gotta give honourable mention to Alien Tourist, Orion, and Breath of the Wild Link.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I voted Vampire Knight, but there were quite a few fantastic choices! I considered Link and the Dragonborn as well. I loved the ice planet explorer, but I didn't think it was detailed enough as much as I love the helmet. Noir detective is one I skipped and mildly regret now. Lastly, I find it interesting we had no superheroes and only one Star Wars minifig. I would have considered Jedi Vader if he had contrasting colored lenses. Regardless, this has been a fantastic year for minifigs.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Several very worthy candidates, but I have to vote for my boy Sauron.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

None of these are half as stand-out amazing as Aloy was in her year. Very hard choice.

Further up the line. The head was used previously for two Vidiyo-figures, one in red and one in medium blue."

And there is a green one in 21348. We just need black, white, silver, copper and bronze.

The City Johnny Thunder is a fine fig, but not particularly groundbreaking... he's not even the first Johnny Thunder redesign we've had, with The Lego Movie and the CMF Jungle Explorer both featuring takes on the same theme. Some of the other retro-inspired figs this year go a little farther by expanding upon past factions (like the M-Tron Powerlifter and Blacktron Mutant) or refining old characters with newer design features (like the arm and leg printing on the Vampire Knight/Basil the Bat Lord).

Personally my favorite fig of the year isn't a retro-inspired one at all, being Nüwa from the Monkie Kid theme... I feel like her design is really both dramatic and elegant in a way that really impressed me.

I just opened one the other day, and that was bothering me. I hadn’t really thought about it until I actually held the constellation shield in my hand, and I was pretty sure from the stick figure design that he was shooting a bow. I’d guess the bow just doesn’t work in trans colors (isn’t it made of polyethylene?). Looking through all of Ptolemy’s constellations, Hercules did wield a club. Perseus is just wielding a sword as depicted (he’s carrying Medusa’s head in the other hand), but historically he used a shield to defeat Medusa. Cepheus is a king, so there are possibilities that don’t involve a bow.

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

Series 26 space is my favourite collectable minifigure series ever; I voted for the Ice planet explorer.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Oh I'd forgotten all about Link! I was going to vote one of the Space figs, but I think finally getting Zelda after all these years, even I have to recognize how great that is. What a year it's been--Space everywhere, and Legend of Zelda, too!

I’ve always “known” the Orion constellation to be wielding a club in his raised hand. Hence the minifigure is pretty perfect. Is there a different traditional interpretation?

Gravatar
By in United States,

I honestly would be happy for any of these to "win." That being said, I am never sure what my voting criteria should be. For some of these, the accessories really seal the deal so the figures seem lacking to me without them. Should I be concentrating on the intricate detailing and look for arm and leg prints? Perhaps the goal should be novelty or conversely most accurate to source?

I like Nien Nunb a lot and hope we see more Sullustans as they are always ruining my Battlefront blast battles. :o) Only now did I realize how similar the Bat Knight is to the Jun Horde antagonist from Beast Master, my favorite guilty pleasure. I never played Zelda and don't imagine I'll get the set but I voted for Link because it just seemed the right thing to do.

The accessories don't affect the overall minifigure. That goes to you too @Robot99

Gravatar
By in United States,

@ForestMenOfEndor:
And I had always understood it to be a bow, because it’s clearly shaped like a bow. If you look at the constellation print on the shield, the line in the upper right is curved like a short bow:

https://rebrickable.com/parts/92747pr9998/minifig-shield-ovoid-with-grip-and-silver-border-orion-constellation-print/

And if you look at a star map of the constellation, it even looks like a recurve bow, with a bend right above where the arm connects to it:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orion_(constellation)/media/File%3AOrion_IAU.svg

But apparently that really is supposed to be a shield, and the forked line in the upper right a club, with a sword hanging from the belt. So, yeah, the CMF team apparently got it right. It was Ptolemy who guffed it up in the first place!

Anyways, I was thinking maybe there was an Orion film logo where he shoots a bow, but all they ever did was have the stars of the constellation spin out in a circle to form the first “O” in the logo. I was probably thinking of the TSG logo that has Odysseus shooting an arrow through a line of axe heads.

Gravatar
By in United States,

OoT Link is licensed and therefore not the most "imaginative" or "extravagant" figure. His new mold for the hair & hat is nothing to sneeze at though. But anyways, he had my nomination and he has my vote, as a lifelong OoT fan. I hope he wins it. Some may groan about a licensed IP winning. But Lego Zelda was awaited for so many years, and they pulled it off with perfection. He's so iconic, it'd be like if we never got Lego Star Wars until 2024: in that alternate universe, of course Darth Vader would win this year!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

None of the new Sonic figs made it? Come on guys!

Gravatar
By in United States,

You're really going to sit there and make me choose between Ice Planet and M-Tron?

Fine, I'll give the edge to Ice Planet, just because of the complete lack of trans-antifreeze on the M-Tron fig.

Gravatar
By in United States,

And the "Sauron should have long legs" thing rears its head again. To properly represent Sauron's height, you'd need legs that are longer than standard ones, but shorter than the long ones. He wouldn't look imposing with long legs, he would look silly.

Iceman - finally! Spider-Friends, go for it!

A lot of great figs this past year! I got a ton of Aarakocras, as well as one of each of the Space CMFs. And we finally saw my beloved Nien Nunb! Nuwa gets an honorable mention, but I have to pick Ice Planet Explorer. Excited about many more minifigs in 2025!

Gravatar
By in Austria,

I was really torn about this. But as much as I like the new Ice planet fig - the lack of trans-neon orange made me dock some points.

Therefore my vote went to the CMF Alien tourist - very original and fun figure with nice prints and dual molding on arms and legs.

Arc Trooper Fives all the way!!! I wish he made it here.

Gravatar

Heh, some of the choices from the CMF range were not the ones I would've personally picked, but still a good selection to choose from.

LEGO LOTR is such a long game, truly the "elder scrolls of Lego games," but fantastic nonetheless. Every moment of that game feels special. Fun fact: the only original voicework for that game was the loading screen dialogue, which was actually Christopher Lee's final performance.
