What is your favourite set of 2024?

Posted by ,

LEGO produced 740 sets in 2024 and about 40 of those received multiple nominations as the best set of the year.

The most popular fifteen have been chosen for this final poll. You can vote for your favourite set of 2024 after the break, selecting a maximum of two, which should make the decision a little easier...

Update (04/01/25): This poll is currently incredibly close, with just four votes separating the top two at the time of writing, so make sure to cast your votes!

What is your favourite set of 2024?

(Select up to 2 options.)

10326 Natural History Museum
10327 Dune Atreides Royal Ornithopter
10332 Medieval Town Square
10333 The Lord of the Rings: Barad-dûr
10335 The Endurance
21061 Notre-Dame de Paris
21348 Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon's Tale
21350 JAWS
21353 The Botanical Garden
43242 Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs' Cottage
71819 Dragon Stone Shrine
71821 Cole's Titan Dragon Mech
76286 The Milano Spaceship
77092 Great Deku Tree 2-in-1
910037 Mushroom House

60430 Interstellar Spaceship only narrowly missed out on a place in the final poll, which is an uncommon feat for such a small set! Otherwise, 42638 Castle Bed and Breakfast, 42639 Andrea's Modern Mansion and 76294 X-Men: The X-Mansion came quite close.

None of my favorites are on the list but there were plenty of sets to choose from to begin with.

Gutted that the interstellar spaceship missed the list. That would have been my vote twice over!

Always gotta go modular, although the D&D set had such amazing storytelling it had to get 2nd. And I don’t even like D&D

The Mushroom House is my favorite, I love this set! D&d set is my dream, but I can't afford it :/

By in Netherlands,

I nominated 75375 Millennium Falcon. For me it's the best looking Lego version of the Falcon.
All prints, the stand that puts it in a cool pose and a fun building experience.

Didn't make the list, so I voted:

21350 JAWS, a well thought out set and tribute to a great movie.

71819 Dragon Stone Shrine, looks great and I have considered buying it a few times.

By in United States,

Out of these, I chose Barad-dur and the Ninjago mech. I still remember scrolling through Brickset's homepage and doing a massive double take when I saw the image of the mech from the review - "Oh it's just Ninjago... WAIT WTF???"

A little surprised that the Deku Tree is on here with the outcry over how bad the price is. I guess people still like the model itself? Idk, for me personally I think that the main model is the weakest part of the set, which made the set an easy "skip", but that might just be my own tastes.

Gravatar
By in United States,

My top pick in the Nominations article was 21061 Notre-Dame, so that gets my first vote here.

My second choice is 21350 Jaws. Even though I've never seen the movie, I just thought it was a really cool build and great addition to the Diorama Collection.

Also almost voted for 10326 Natural History Museum and 10332 Medieval Town Square.

Looking forward to seeing what wins — I honestly couldn't say!

Easily the excellent Botanical Garden. Right from the moment that it looked liked the original Ideas entry had disappointingly been thwarted by the inferior Friends effort.

Although I suspect Lord or Dungeons will be an easy win!

I think Notre Dame was the best set of 2024. Not only is the set itself impressive, but the building process of following the stages of the construction of the cathedral over the centuries makes it unique over any other set I've ever built. And to top it off, the manual has so many notes about the building and its construction; it's a history lesson.

By in United States,

I know 910037 Mushroom House probably won't get very many votes since it wasn't a general release set, but I'm thrilled that it made it to the vote. It's such a great set with so many creative details. Finally building this set was the culmination of a long journey of wanting this set, between the Ideas and BDP submissions. This set made up for so many disappointments due to truly great Ideas submissions getting rejected.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The Mushroom House made it, but no Brick Cross Station?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Honestly there were so many wonderful sets released this year.

AFOLers love to grouse about LEGO because we care about the hobby and LEGO isn't perfect. But we should acknowledge how bountiful and diverse the available kits are these days.

There's nearly something for all tastes, and I am having to be more and more selective about my purchases because if I bought every set I liked I'd be bankrupt!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The Museum and the Botanical Gardens for me, but based on the rumours so far, 2025 looks like it's going to be even better. I've already ordered Tudor Corner even though I haven't been able to yet afford the last two modulars (including the Museum, which is, suffice to say, on my want list).

Gravatar

Too bad the price on Zelda is too disgusting for me to select it in good conscience!

Barad-Dur (!!) and Dune Ornithopter were my favorite of this year, although if I had gotten the D&D set it might have been that too...

By in Belgium,

From the selection 10327 Dune Atreides Royal Ornithopter: fun to play with thanks to the wing/blades functionality and great selection of minifigs. As the second choice I selected 10332 Medieval Town Square.

If possible I would have voted for 60430 Interstellar Spaceship, it’s great to hear this small playset only narrowly missed its place in a poll dominated by large AFOL oriented sets.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Tough call cause I really love LOTR, but I went with Dungeons and Dragons. That was a really fun build for me. Maybe my favorite set of all time.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Surprisingly, while having 2 (or more) options on the other polls would've been great, it actually didn't help me with this poll, because there is only One Set to rule them all: 10333. It's likely not my actual favorite set of the year, but it's the only set on this list I actually want. Sadly, much like Rivendell, I will never be able to afford it before it retires.

My second pick was a toss-up between 21061 Notre-Dame and 10335 Endurance. In the end I went for 21061 - both are excellent models, but I remember being more impressed with the details and building techniques used in Notre-Dame. I might've gone for 71821, but the show has so completely jumped the shark that nothing Ninjago can be my favorite anymore (I have built 71822, and I like the dragon on its own, but I only bought it because I collect big dragons and I got it for 50% off).

Side-note: I really, really like 910037 Mushroom House - it was one of the best Ideas projects I've ever seen and the only BDP model I've ever considered getting - but in my mind Bricklink sets don't qualify as "LEGO sets". They're rather "fan models being produced in limited quantities and auctioned off at exorbitant prices (even for LEGO), distributed with LEGO's help". In my mind, those two things aren't the same. No disrespect to the BDP designers - all the models are fantastic - but I can't vote for one of them as my favorite LEGO set when it's not really a proper LEGO set. I'm probably being a bit too pedantic for this poll, though.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I know it's not going to win, but I nominated and voted for 71819. I haven't built many sets this year (still working on renovating the basement after it was overflown with water last June), but I enjoyed that one and found it beautiful. I'm still trying to figure out a way to make it work in my Ninjago City display (which included all four official sets plus custom made buildings).

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

None of the above should really be an option for a more robust survey

Gravatar
By in United States,

Correct me of I’m wrong, but is this the first time a non-Normal set was a finalist?

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

10327 Dune Atreides Royal Ornithopter is incredibly good; It's my favourite set of the year.

And second is 10335 The Endurance which I was extremely impressed with.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Love Barad-dûr and Dnd but Jaws is definitely the set I’ve been waiting so many years for and the execution is fantastic. Dunn dun. Dunn Dun.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Voted for 10332 Medieval Town Square 21350 Jaws. Sorry Barad-dûr, but you're not Rivendell and I still hate that middle section of the build.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I had submitted the Endurance as my favorite set, but looking at 71819 Dragon Stone Shrine I will be switching my vote to it. This will be a good companion set to 10315 Tranquil Garden. There will be no fighting at this shrine.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Had to vote for the Ornithopter as the only one I have, and Notre Dame as the only other one I'm likely to acquire. Both Barad-dur and the Endurance look amazing however, and if I had the space (and a sufficiently understanding family) they'd be on the list too!

I'm quite keen on the Dragon Stone Shrine too. I'm not into Ninjago at all, but purely as a display piece it looks great!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Even though Modulars are the only modern sets I collect, I couldn't vote for the Natural History Museum it just didn't wow like previous Modulars, especially disappointing as it was a anniversary release (15 years) just as the brilliant Assembly Square was 5 years earlier. Can't image the Museum being available for an unprecedented 7 years as Assembly was.....grumble over....
...so Botanical Garden and Jaws got my vote.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm really surprised 60430 didn't make the cut--I'm betting people just assumed you can't have a sub-$40 in the overall category. I certainly spoke up for it in the overall category. That said, it's more fun to have a different pick for overall, so I look forward to seeing who wins this one (I'm already assuming 60430 will sweep the sub-$40).

I don't really love the Deku Tree, but I'm giving it my vote under the assumption that more Zelda is (finally!) coming, and I'm really looking forward to that.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I selected the Great Deku Tree and the Botanical Gardens.

I own the Deku Tree, largely because my partner is a Zelda superfan (tattoos, limited edition everything, etc.) I initially was not happy with the price, but after building the whole thing I think it's justified - the thing is HUGE, colorful, extremely charming and detailed. It's the sort of set that makes people say "WOW." when they see it. We finally got LEGO Zelda and it's great!

Second set was the Botanical Garden. I don't own it, but absolutely wish I did. It makes me smile just looking at.

Gravatar
By in United States,

After some review, 2024 seems to have been a top heavy year outside City Space. Each of these finalists is worthy but oh so expensive. Endurance, Notre Dame and Barad-Dur seem like slam dunks but the cathedral’s size/price and the short handed missing GWPs leave a bad taste in my mouth.

The Botanical garden is intriguing but a part of me is thinking 2 Friends sets might work better for my city. I love (and bought) the Mushroom House but I’m not sure BLDP sets should be in competition against standard LEGO sets. D&D, Snow White, and Dune come real close but for me, it’s the Medieval Town Square and Jaws.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Weeeellll...on the 'one hand' (and more 'accurately') I could/should sat/write 'none', as I have none of these sets...but, I CAN go to "option B", as I do have a 'like/want' on 10332 Medieval Town Square, so there ya' go :D

Also @shedjed and @alLEGOry_HJB2810:
"You got your Dragon in my Dungeon!!!"
"You got YOUR Dungeon around my Dragon!!!"
(Both) "HEEEEYYY!!!"...
and suddenly, I want peanut butter cups:D

While I certainly wouldn't vote for the set based on that, I can understand the sentiment. It's difficult for me to have skipped buying it simply because I want to show Lego and Nintendo that I want more, and I can't really do that if I'm not buying it lol

I usually only vote for sets I own, but since 10334 (my nomination) and 60430 didn't make the cut, I had to go for the two I most wish I had the space for, 10335 and 21348.

By in United Kingdom,

Much like the minifigure poll, had to go for Barad Dur, simply an amazing set which looks really impressive in the centre of my Lego display with the Black Gate set in front and nine Nazgul in front

Second vote was hard to choose as don't personally own any of them, but chose DnD as it simply looks amazing

Gravatar
By in United States,

77092! Yes, the price is high, but a small price to pay for salvation. It's perfect otherwise. My second choice is 43242, but 21350 came close.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Too bad 31152 Space Astronaut didn't make the cut.....unfortunate that it's just slightly too expensive for thr sub €40 category, but can't take the fight to those other sets that cost several times as much. Which makes it all the more impressive that 60430 almost did manage to do so....

From these, my votes go to the Ornithopter and the Endurance, the only of these that I would actually consider buying. That said, I already kinda regret voting for the Ornithopter, as much as I like what Lego did here, those red pins and other color puke are just unforgivable....

Gravatar
By in Spain,

I discard all products limited to bricklink. I refuse to vote for them because of their limited availability.

It is curious that the ugliest layman of the year, Barad-dûr (10333), is a favorite.

It is clear that youtubers and users always overvalue some games (Rivendell,...) and undervalue others (Friends,...). It's like a fashion that everyone follows here...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Out of the list here, its a toss up between the Milano as I'm a big fan of Guuardians of the Galaxy, and the D&D set... for obvious reason.

My two personal favourite this year though were the Piranha Plant, and the Dancing Groot... simply as both sets make me feel happy having them on my shelf.

Gravatar

Gravatar
By in Denmark,

2024 has been an overwhelming year of great sets. Choosing between them is like choosing my favourite author! I voted for DnD, 21348. It stands out from my other favourites because of the integral RP campaign.
(Other favourites are Medieval Town Square 10332, Botanical Garden 21353, Snow White Cottage 43242, and Dragon Stone Shrine 71819)

That's pretty much it exactly--I lvoe that it exists, and I want more, but I don't actually want that set. I also might have voted differently if I felt strongly about the other entries, but I wasn't really into the bigger sets this year. Frankly, I would have voted 60430 again if it had been a choice!

Gravatar
By in United States,

There are a number of sets on the list that make me scratch my head--why that one? Also a number of sets I'm deliberately avoiding, mostly for space reasons, but sometimes not. And yet, being given two votes doesn't make my choice easier--there are five sets I consider to be outstanding, and two or three more that I'd enjoy voting for.

So I wind up voting for the *first two sets out of five* that I suggested in the survey: Notre Dame for the win, with the mind-blowing ornithopter as reserve Best In Show.

Oops. In my survey post Botanical Gardens came ahead of the ornithopter, but the more I think about it, the more the brilliant mechanics of the ornithopter overwhelms me.

What a long, strange, fabulous year it's been....

Gravatar
By in United States,

The obvious winner is 60430 Interstellar Spaceship, but sadly it didn't make the cut. Voted for the set with the greatest surprise factor 10327 Dune Atreides Royal Ornithopter

Gravatar
By in Australia,

The botanical garden.

I will note that the price of BG is a disgrace ($500 AUD means I can't get it) and the interior should be improved, but overall it looks absolutely amazing and has lots of great plant elements and mini builds.

Natural History Museum was terrible. Sorry, but that's just how it is.

Likewise Mediaeval Town Square. Such a let down.

Naturally it's early days yet but I'm reasonably confident the 2025 Tudor Corner will be voted the best set of 2025 by Bricksetters. (unless there's a really brilliant Icons classic pirates, castle or other theme set in the latter half of the year)

Gravatar
By in United States,

I had the opposite problem of the Under-$40 poll. I think there was only one set on that poll that I had any serious interest in buying, but I doubt it was actually my favorite under-$40 set. Here, there were five sets that I wanted to vote for.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Just finished building Barad-dûr and it's a work of art. It and The Milano got my vote, they're two of the best designed licensed sets ever.

True. I dont follow Classic Space so havent been as 'in touch' with the reaction to that set, I thought some people were disappointed but others might love it.

It will definitely be interesting to see the 'battle' between 10355 and Tudor Corner over which is more popular amongst AFOLs or considered the 'best' set.

easy choice: Barad-Dur and great deku tree

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Brickchap:
First reactions can always change. One of the other Blacktron fans in my LUG wasn't thrilled with it, but when he saw the display model being assembled at the local LEGO Store, he realized that the model was significantly larger than he'd originally thought. I'd guess he also got a better look at some of the details. Does he think it's the best thing since sliced bread? I doubt it, but he's certainly warming up to it.

Gravatar

Gravatar
By in United States,

Tough choices here. I actually own 6 of the sets in the poll but have only built one of them so far. I don't think that Bricklink Designer Program sets should have been eligible for this vote as they don't adhere to the restrictions of official LEGO sets. I went with Medieval Town Square & Botanical Garden.

Gravatar

It's difficult for smaller sets to compete with larger ones (>200$). If there was an additional category ($40 - $150/200) Friends sets could really have a chance to win.

Because of the D&D set (and that crazy good d&d cmf series) i finally bought me some fantasy/medieval sets again since my childhood. I got the medieval town square because of it. No regrets here.

The set that i like best though was the X-mansion although all its flaws. But that is more because of me being a comic geek, and i really wanted a X-mansion for years.

I miss choosing best theme. Best theme for me is. Animal Crossing!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I really don't get the love for the Botanical Garden set. I think the Friends set blows away this larger version. It just didn't sit right with me. I don't know what it is, but easy pass. It would likely be toward the bottom of this list if I had to put them all in order.

With that said, I don't own most of these, so favorites are only dependent on how they look. And I'm a castle guy, so that sums that up. (oddly I only build modulars, but I love castle builds, weird...)

Gravatar

As a castle/fantasy fan, there were a lot of great choices here... the medieval town square, D&D, Barad-Dur, Snow White, the Deku tree, the dragon shrine... Plus the Milano is definitely one of the coolest Marvel sets. I ended up narrowing it down to the D&D set and Barad-Dur. If I owned any of these sets yet, my picks may have been different, but based on pure looks those two are my favorite.

Without a doubt, my favourite set for 2024 is 10335 The Endurance although it does bother me that the ship is flying the wrong coloured flag. "

As a nitpicker myself, I completely understand.

This is based on a user poll. Not enough people voted for City or Space sets for them to reach the final round.

Only one will survive, I wonder who it will be? (Okay, maybe this isn't the Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny.)

Ah, ok so Godzilla won as Best Set '24 ;)
Or was it Mr. Rogers? Can't remember the song on who won in the end. LOL.

"The champion stood, the rest saw their better.
Mr. Rogers in a blood-stained sweater."

And the closest thing to Mr. Rogers that I can see in this year's contestants is 10326. If Mr. Rogers did episodes on location (It's been decades since I watched, so can't really remember, but I don't think so), a museum would have been a great choice of place to visit.
