A new Sonic set has been found on the LEGO Builder app by BricksFanz.

The 181-piece set 40781 Badnik: Crabmeat builds the crustacean enemy Crabmeat, a slow-paced Badnik that fires projectiles from its pincers, standing on a section of Green Hill Zone scenery.

Going by the set number, it'll be either a gift with purchase or a LEGO exclusive. We'll let you know we find out.

SO HERES THIS GIANT ENEMY CRAB-

By in United Kingdom,

I dont have any interest in the Sonic sets themselves, but I have been buying the Badniks, and they look very nice on my shelf.

By in United Kingdom,

Looks like a crab that's had its claws blunted, but actually this looks alright. I wouldn't have considered it as recognisable as a Moto Bug though: maybe that was the first choice but they couldn't get it to work?

Mmmm... makes me want to cook up some crab cakes.

By in Ukraine,

If this set starts a subtheme of large-scale Badniks, then okay. But if it doesn't, well then shame on you, TLG!

By in United States,

now that is a great set, for any other theme also

Not yet...

By in United Kingdom,

Never brought any sonic sets despite having a somewhat interest in the franchise. This may be my first if it becomes a lego store exclusive. Hope its not a GWP!

No need to be so crabby about it.

My wallet is ready.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I'm hoping I can pick it up rather than it being a GWP. I don't have tons of space on my shelves to display sets anymore, so don't want to be spending money on other sets to get this.

It's so sad when people retreat back into their shells.

By in United States,

The Green Hill saturation is excessive (even if Lego themselves have slowed down a little since the first year) but it's not a bad build. I like that it's mostly based on the original 1991 sprite instead of the Lost World design that they've been reusing for Classic-series merch.

By in United States,

This is cute! I'm not a Sonic fan, but I see what they're going for here.

Since LEGO (or Nintendo, perhaps) seems reluctant to give us minifigures of Mario characters, I would love to see a small line of sets like this guy to depict various enemies from the Mario games (Goomba, Koopa Troopa, Piranha Plant, Spiny, etc.).

Oxford Reference says the Devil has been nicknamed "Old Nick" since at least the 17th century.

I had the same thought, but maybe Motobug's slated for a retail set while Crabmeat is a GWP? Personally I like this idea, especially if they come with different chunks of the different levels of Sonic.

Maybr you could set up a pincer maneuver?

By in Australia,

I love this so much, god I hope they do more badniks in this style. Honestly might be the best sonic set IMO, or at least the one that most fits my tastes

Gravatar
By in Poland,

This kind of"statue" sets are great.
Small, posable and still can be used with minifigs!

Probably when his starring role in the cheesy, failed 'Galidor -Defenders of the Outer Dimension' TV show sent his toy line figure into the depths of the Bin of Deep Discount.

Oh wait, wrong Nick.
