All the SDCC exclusives in one list
Posted by Huw,
Once again the LEGO PR team has done a good job of spreading the news around about the SDCC exclusives, and Matthew has done a good job keeping up with it all and re-posting it here.
I've now added the items to the database so if you want to see everything you'll never own in one place, here's a list of all SDCC 2014 exclusive items.
If you go, and are able to secure some of the items, we'd very much appreciate better pictures for the database, so please get in touch, thank you.

That particular Batman was only really in one recent story, and I love that he comes with a little baseball bat. Hah! He couldn't come with a little Bat-radia? Or would that have been too obscure?
They sriously have to stop making SDCC exclusives. I would love most all of the stuff they've revealed so far! This is ridiculous.
So, would the thing he's holding be called a "BatBat"?
I REALLY want the Unikitty. I collect all of them, and not being able to get this one drives me crazy!
Yeah, I'd love a few of those but my chances are pretty slim.
That said, I've managed to get a knock-off Green Arrow, Captain Marvel (ssh, we have to call him Shazam!) and Green Lantern that are pretty good quality for less than a fiver, so I suspect the Zur-En-Arrh Batman will show up in the next few months.

@MOCDoc:
The Batbat. You have a point there : )
As I'm not familiar with this character, why is he holding a BatBat? ;)
Thats one silly looking Batman. He's not wearing black or very very dark grey!
SDCC has become an arms race. Just a few years ago, toy companies might have a couple exclusives. Now companies like Hasbro and LEGO are rolling out 6-8 each. It pretty much underscores that all these exclusives are ilttle more than a status competition among the toy companies.
@evil pixie It couldn't be further for 99% of SDCC attendees. Attending SDCC does not guarantee anyone these exclusives. 130,000 attend, but only 1000-1750 are given out. Everyone has an opportunity to own.... EBay. Big Lego fans will get these if they really want them.
More than any other exclusive TLG have done, I want this. This isn't going to be cheap...
What really annoys me about these exclusives is that fans who DON'T have thousands of dollars to burn through, can't afford them. It'd be one thing if they were released through Shop @Home, or as some other method of exclusiveness, but releasing them at SDCC and NYCC is extremely unfair to people who don't have either the time or the money to travel that far.
I was personally looking forward to possibly collecting the whole Marvel Movieverse theme. Now, with the release of the Warbird, which I am in the middle about, but especially the Collector, WHO IS A CENTRAL CHARACTER*, I am going to not be able to do that. Congratulations, LEGO, you just lost hundreds of dollars of potential revenue.
To everyone who keeps trying to silence the completists, there is nothing wrong with wanting to be a completist. Everyone has their own feelings about their collection. Yours are no more right than theirs.
@vwong19 No, everyone does NOT have an opportunity to own. Ebay caters to people who have money to waste. I do not. I am a hard worker, but I do not have money to waste. They won't get them if "they really want them", they get to watch other people get them.
*He IS a central character. If there wasn't a Collector, there wouldn't be someone to gather the Infinity Gems. Without someone to collect the Infinity Gems, it's hard to say exactly what A2 would be about, but it would quite likely be a lot less "Thanos attacks Earth", and a lot more "Hank Pym sits through domestic abuse charges". And so, they only release a central character like that as a "Not really an exclusive, since only fans who have money to burn are ever supposed to have him, but we'll call him that so we look fair."?
I only see 7 items listed but aren't there supposed to be 8? (4 minifigs and 4 sets)
@lindwisperer - wasting money is relative. I believe we all prioritize our money and there have opportunities to use it however we please. Some people like to spend money on coffee, I prefer toys. Some people like to travel, I like to spend my time in San Diego. These exclusives are likely going to be in $100s not $1000s so we all have our limits. I haven't bought the NY toy fair iron man or capt America yet I want to be a completist. I have my limits. I also don't think buying these rare figures are a bad choice. They retain their value unlike a cup of coffee or traveling. Do I buy mutual funds and invest... Yes, but that's boring. Buying toys is a small part of my portfolio but I enjoy the heck out of it.
Most of these are perfectly fine picks as SDCC exclusives, because they're corner cases and variants. Collector, however, is a terrible pick.
The classic Batman set gives me hope that there may be a UCS '66 Batmobile at some point, to add to my large-scale Batmobile collection. In the meantime, I'll try and reverse-engineer it. It shouldn't be hard.
The items at comic con are much more diverse than previous years.
Whenever I'm feeling these same sentiments, I look over at my Azog minifig that I bought for $53 (Amazon) in the Battle of Dol Guldur. After SDCC last year his exclusive fig was trading around $1000 if I remember correctly, and generated much of the same hysteria. Not necessarily a scenario that will happen here, and completists won't find solace in this, but it helps me laugh a bit at the ridiculousness and enjoy the pieces I was able to get.
I saw that Batman figure in a picture on Lego's Facebook page a couple of months back and wondered if it would be coming out in a set. Guess this has blown the hope of that out of the water or has it.........
Hasbro releases their exclusives through their online shop following the convention. It would be great if Lego did the same.
@mlhammer: The difference with Azog is that he was not announced as an exclusive minifigure, and people should have known better than to assume he could have been one anyway (since he included not one but two brand-new molds). I wouldn't be surprised if there's another preview fig like that at this year's Comic-Con, which isn't announced prior to the event.
Good point @Aanchir...I guess I looked at the price tag at the time and assumed exclusive.
It's not fair that only the US always gets these exclusives -_-
@vwong19. I think the fact that you have a portfolio suggests you are one of those who has money to waste. Many of us are not that fortunate so the exorbitant prices on eBay do bar us from ever owning these figures. Not everyone is like you, a good rule to remember when offering advice
@jsworpin - I don't pretend to be poor, but you also have to acknowledge that Lego is not a cheap toy. Anyone seriously collecting Lego should know that by now. Also anyone who collects know there is value in these bricks. Perhaps let go of some of those valuable bricks to buy other sets. I've sold off some of my sets to make room for new ones. Make room and free up funds.
LOL. So much hate for the exclusivity of the SDCC exclusives. It's like listening to children who have never been told 'NO' their whole lives...
So are those new minifigs in all seven sets? The batman and robin look quite familiar, but there are so many slight variations on these figs I can't keep up!
@vwong19 I happen to have several valuable sets. And I know the values of them as well as anyone. If you're buying them to sell them in the future, you're not a collector, you're a re-seller. Don't mix the two up, they are not synonymous.
@lind_whisperer - not everyone is classified as a reseller or just a collector. Is being a reseller even a bad thing... Anyway I have a finite amount of display space and I choose to get rid of some by selling them while keeping others. I try not hoard too much. I admit I buy some for future investment, but I enjoy collecting also. Sometimes i get tired of owning something.... What is wrong with selling it? Is hoarding a good thing?
@vwong19 I'm simply saying that not everyone follows your opinion. It is your choice as to what you do with your own bricks, and it is mine what I do with mine.
Also, don't go around calling collecting hoarding. There is a difference.
Every year they release promos, every year people complain. I know, I used to, too. But, it will never change and complaining about it won't help.
Instead, I made the decision to build the sets I wanted from NYCC, SDCC, and the Star Wars Celebrations on my own. Bricklink was a starting point, as they list the inventory of the sets. Instructions can be found easily here or with a simple Google search.
I bought all the pieces and figures on Bricklink recently for a total $120 and that was including shipping. I built, Jek-14's Starfighter, Boba Fett's Slave 1, Luke's Landspeeder, and Darth Maul's Sith Infiltrator, again, for $120 total. Instead of $500+ for the real sets.
As for the Exclusive figs, as "you_will_forget" said earlier, for most of us, knock-offs or customs are the way to go.
When set inventories and instructions pop up for the Rockets Warbird, The Batmobile, and The Ghost, I'll buy the pieces for them and build them with instructions provided online.
Jamie
The tricky thing is, knock offs are becoming better and better quality. Not necessarily LEGO quality, but better than they used to be. Customizers are getting better and better. Possibly buying a custom Collector for $50 instead of an official LEGO one for multiple $100s makes a lot of sense. The problem will be telling the two apart since most customizers use official LEGO products as a base.
I'd love to pick up most of these figures, but I don't see that happening at current prices. You basically have to just forget about them and pretend they don't exist.
It's the same with collecting anything. I used to collect trading cards. A handful of years ago they started releasing ink plates that they used to print the card with. Each plate was 1/1, meaning only one was produced. Meaning you will more than likely never have all of them. I surprisingly do have a few of one player, but I'll never have the complete set. It's tough for a completionist. You just have to forget about that unattainable idea and collect the rest of the stuff you DO want.
Having eBay around does help with people who couldn't get it for "free." But the convention costs money, travel to get there cost money, so nothing really is free. But having a higher total given out may help lower the cost.
So now Lego is not only giving away figs that are almost impossible to get, they are now making small sets that are almost impossible to get, AND they are ripping the few lucky ones that go to Comic-Con 50 bucks for under 200 pieces???
Well...that's just shameless, isn't it? And very disappointing.
Just thought to mention; the SDCC Unikitty is NOT double faced. The package actually includes two separate printed bricks that you can use alternatively. See here: http://youtu.be/eJYz0yRYEYU
I SHARE ALL YOUR OPINION ABOUT FAIRNESS,
BEST THING TO DO IS DON'T GIVE IN TO BUY THEM ON EBAY OR AMAZON OR ANY OTHER SITE AND THEY WILL DROP DOWN IN PRICE.
PLAY THEM AT THERE OWN GAME,
MY OPINION
These mini sets are easier to buy online then to go through the hassle of attending SDCC and attempting to buy one there at retail. If you experienced what it actually took to ATTEMPT to purchase these sets at SDCC, you would agree. A 200% markup from retail seems fair to me. The LEGO booth was a mess this year as is every year.
Just think of it as paying someone to do your dirty work at SDCC.
