CMF Series 12 line-up

Posted by ,

The big news to break yesterday whilst I was out was the release of the Argos catalogue in the UK and an update to their website which revealed the full line-up of series 12 minifigs. Although listed on the site, they do not appear to be available to buy as yet.

The full list of figures is as follows:

Battle Goddess, Dino Tracker, Fairytale Princess, Genie Girl, Hun Warrior, Jester, Lifeguard, Piggy Guy, Pizza Delivery Man, Prospector, Rock Star, Space Miner, Spooky Girl, Swashbuckler, Video Game Guy, Wizard.

It's good to get back to a 'random' selection of figures after the two licensed series, isn't it?

By in Czechia,

I like more than half series. Battle Goddess, Fairytale Princess, Genie Girl, Hun Warrior, Jester, Piggy Guy, Prospector, Spooky Girl, Wizard and maybe Space Miner will be part of my collection.

By in Canada,

Pig suit looks great as do the Jestor colors. Some of the same but you're right Huw - nice to be "regular" figs again.

By in United States,

Space miner!

By in United States,

Looks like I'll be shooting for four minifigures, which is just about par for the course for past CMF series.

Gravatar
By in Czechia,

The piggy guy is must have for me.

By in Philippines,

Speaking of licensed series - my dream CMS will be for a Marvel Super Heroes line - with the not-so-known superheroes. Haha, dream on!

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

Interestingly Argos has them listed as Series 14.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

There's too many gender/colour swapped figs for me. Meh , still gonna try and get the lot.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

They're in the catalogue itself (listed as S12) and scheduled for October release. Just wondering if they'll be selling them at £2.29 like all recent sets (the price increase would have been justified had they made them in Denmark, and not China)

By in Netherlands,

This is one of the better series for me at first look.
Granted there are some figures we have seen in another form(/gender).
But I actually like to have a Girl genie and a new coloured Jester.

I especially like the wizard and the piggy guy (shame it keeps being guys in tose suits). Maybe we should ask Alatariel?

Spooky Girl looks just like Wednesday Addams!

By in Germany,

My thoughts:

- The ratio of historical figures seems unusually high.
- Spooky Girl reminds me of Moaning Myrtle from Harry Potter, but everybody seems to find another reference, which is very cool.
- Dino Tracker looks like a design that was leftover from the 2012 Dino theme.
- a minifigure with the Prospectors hat can be seen in The LEGO Movie (I remember cause I was hoping for it to show up here). That minifigure kept showing up everywhere and was wearing a Santa beard in brown, which I think would work better than the Wiley Fusebot piece. In the movie there was also another lumberjack than the one from series 5 (he could also be a trucker or something), who I am still hoping for.
- there is no new accessory, except the electric guitar.
- I see three minifigures (Video Gamer, Genie, and Dino Tracker; maybe also the Pizza Delivery Guy) using the moulded short sleeves, that were introduced in The Simpsons series.
- generally I love the series and I am glad we're back to "normal". Gotta catch 'em all (as always)!

By in Australia,

Yeah, I'll be aiming for all 16, I think. Love the Battle Goddess (couldn't they have just called her Athena?).

Gravatar
By in United States,

Finally a new pizza print!

Gravatar
By in Canada,

We need a new Pizzaria now. And I only like 5 seriously. Will sell unwanteds locally or try to.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I'll be honest: none of these are really doing it for me. Might be interested in the Rocker for the guitar, but honestly, that is it. Well, I'm just one of those weird people that actually likes all the aliens, beasts and anthropomorphs (and new accessory moulds) LEGO puts out, and their absence here plus the price increase puts me right off this series.

I still maintain that they could have made a little Velociraptor mould for the Dino Tracker to actually track though :-)

By in Singapore,

Nice to see swords, spears and shields!

By in Taiwan,

I think it's an overage series. Rehashings are inevitable, but many of them are still nice. I personally think the very first leaked group are the true outstanding ones. It's alittle letdown not to see six ladies again like what TLM was, but they're still okay.

Rock Star - based on the fact that there have been many other cool hairstyles in Rock Band, I'd say I'm not willing to see a reused Rock Girl hair in this case. Obviously the cost is for the new guitar so there won't be another hairpiece.
Hun Warrior - the best one among the bunch that haven't been leaked IMO.
Lifeguard - an okay figure, but not better than the two from series 2. If TLG want to make him outstanding, I hope that his Club Max hairstyle get some special colors and streaks.
Fairytale Princess - I think it's much more like a contribution to old classic Castle figures, not a more improved and sophisticated princess like those Disney characters.
Genie Girl - she looks okay but I hope she to be more like a counterpart to the Genie Guy who didn't look like human. Is her harstyle as same as the Dino Tracker?
Jester - it's all what we predicted. And not sure if poker cards are appealing enough to FOLs.
Pizza Guy - this kind of figure could have been put in previous City sets that came with Pizza restaurants. Of coure he is here for what he can give us (at hand).

By in United States,

I like all the historical and fantasy ones (3 castle specific which is odd)....and my wife has started collecting the unusual ones like the piggy guy. I think when all is said and done between my daughters and us we will get about 10 or 11 of the 16... never really into the sci fi one

Gravatar
By in United States,

I don't know what the internet will do when these are released, because everyone outside of the LEGO community seems to have branded the TLM and Simpsons series as 12 and 13, even though they were side series, so people will be calling this Series 14, but it's actually 12 since the previous series didn't count.
I like it a lot, by the way. I like the original Castle characters, and the Spooky Girl is oddly the only appropriate one for the October release, but she's wonderful.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

and my favourite is SPACE MINER!!!! HES AWESOME!!!

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

Red binoculars!
Some nice new headgear but overall not the most inspired series...

Gravatar
By in Puerto Rico,

Lego should really integrate these minifigures into their normal sets after they are done with a CMF and introduce the next series.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Lego had a year to be creative, instead we get this rather boring series and a price increase.

No thanks LEGO, I'll be passing on this one.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

@Dorayaki: I think the Genie has a blond bun (same piece as the Geisha) while the Dino Tracker has a long pony tail, which is actually a new piece if I am not mistaking.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Duq, Wait, there are red binoculars? You now what this means, time to modify the old Ecto-1! :)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Genie's hair looks to be either the same as Dino Tracker's, or Slave Leia's from the 2013 Jabba's Sail Barge. Either way it's new in blonde.

Princess isn't as detailed as I'd hoped, but it still looks good, especially the new purple coloured dress (perfect for Tangled's Rapunzel minifigure).

Only real repeats/gender swaps here are the lifeguard and rock star, but I never had a problem with repeats since they always bring new parts.

There's no immediate favourite for me, but they all look great.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Some of these are pretty cool. Shame about the price tag- independent stores have these for $4.49. That's too much for one minifig.

Gravatar
By in United States,

^^
The Genie Girl uses the Sumo bun in Cool Yellow. Looking at the Tracker's hair, it looks very similar from the front, but the hairlines are subtly different, indicating that they are not the same piece. Slave Leia's hair is very different from both of them. The Genie Girl is a gender swap, too, though more different from her counterpart. I can't wait to get her. I wonder if those sparkles on her smoke tail are on the physical minifig.

By in Canada,

Great series!

By in United States,

I'll be getting:

1.) Fairytale Princess - she reminds me a lot of a princess minifigure that I really wanted as a kid but never got (of course, eventually I got various princesses, but that one always eluded me!).

2.) Battle Goddess - I love the Greek themed ones, and this one is one of my favorites. As a Wonder Woman fan also, she'll be perfect as Athena.

3.) Dino Tracker - I liked the Dino theme despite not ever really buying any of them... I guess because I'm a huge Jurassic Park fan (and I love Dino Crisis as well).

4.) Genie Girl - I'm more likely to get a female minifigure over a male, and I admit I don't have the male genie.

5.) Swashbuckler - There aren't very many male minifigs I like from this set, but he's one of them.

6.) Wizard - Any fantasy minifigs are always on my list.

I may end up getting the Hun Warrior and Lifeguard as well. The Lifeguard mainly for his hair piece and chest piece.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'd love to get a squad of space miners, and I can't look at the dino tracker without thinking Hunger Games/Jurassic Park crossover... all that's missing is longer hair.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Lots of fantastic new figures. I really want the barbarian & jester. As people have said before, Athena wasn't blonde, but I'll try to find her anyway.

For those trying to identify the lookalikes, the spooky girl looks the same as Wednesday Addams from The Addams Family and the genie is the title character from I Dream of Jeannie.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Dino Tracker, AKA Katniss Everdeen. Or is that just me? Otherwise a rather out of place figure unless she comes with a little dino too. It seems like she may be popular if others see the Hunger Games association.

Overall I'm loving this series. Even the 2 or 3 clunkers have interesting parts.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@8BrickMario - I think you're probably right about the Sumo bun, though I hope not because I never liked that piece! And I forgot about the Genie's counterpart... It would've been nice to get the tail in a different colour, but at least it looks like this one has sparkles printed.

Also I'm really glad TLG decided not to make a new dress piece for the Princess. I think if they started using more detailed moulds, they wouldn't be as versatile for different styles, and more importantly would render all the old slopes obsolete.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I thought I saw different pictures of Spooky Girl that I actually liked better. Can't seem to find them now. I'm disappointed with this version. :(

Gravatar
By in United States,

@ kmvk83
Actually the bumble bee suit was a female.

All in all, a good series . . . the $3.99 price tag is the worst part!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I hate the price, but the figures look pretty decent.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Let me pretend I have 3x my budget:

Hun Warrior x4
Battle Goddess x3
Dino tracker x2
Prospector, Princess, Lifeguard, Space Miner x1 each
Pizza guy x2 (but all I really want is the new pizza print)
Jester x1 (but I really only want the cards)

But seeing as that means $4x16 figs, I can't justify spending nearly $65 just on minifigs. So, probably just the Hun, Athena, Katniss, Prospector, and Pizza guy. -(sigh)-

Gravatar
By in United States,

These all look great, if some are similar to older CMF series.
I like how all of them have some sort of rare-ish piece (lots of hair, hats, and tools) that would make them worth the money (besides the very well printed minifigs themselves of course) unlike previous CMF series.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

-Is Prospected wearing a Toy Story Stinky Pete hat or was there no Stinky Pete with the TS sets?
-is that Lifeguard holding a red version of a little orange floaty from the Maersk boat?
- teddy bears are a good thing

Gravatar
By in Taiwan,

I guess the hairstyle of Genie Girl doesn’t really look like a Sumo bun since the Sumo bun is more smoothy. It may either be a Dino Tracker or Slave Leia one. Of course I’d definitely get the blonde slave ponytail for sure.

Gravatar
By in Hungary,

ArielHairRaph: There is a Stinky Pete minifig, and until now, I thought they use the mold for the hat. But I just learned that it was a head-and-hat-together mold back then, so it is not the same.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I like the Pizza Delivery guy. It brings back a lot of memories of classic lego and the old Lego Pizza To Go set. But they've made a few pizza parlors in the past 5 years, so it's nice to have a delivery guy. And then kids (or you!) can just make your own scooter or delivery car. Pretty cool. Also like the rock-star. I wonder if these will be 2.99 USD again... 3.99 for Simpson's was a bit of a turn-off for me.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Unfortunately, the Simpsons price-hike seems to be a permanent change. Inflation stinks, but LEGO knows people will still pay for them even without licensing.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I really like a lot of this series, and I'm really excited to have the Minifig series back. The movie figs sold out before I could get any and I was not a fan of the Simpsons, but I hate the price increase. It's simply very hard to justify spending $4.00 on a single fig.
