The more I look at it and read about it the more I feel I only want the minifigs.
Yeah, yeah it looks nice (considering it doesn't) but it's way too fragile, so it's only a display piece, and with all the black plates on the surface you'll need a closed and airtight cabinet to not having watch the dust settle after a week on display and accumulate over time.
This one will be a pass for me. :)
This set is a miss for me.
Why is the set more in France than Germany?
@Lego 360 official - The prices of sets often vary across the EU, and Germany is usually among the least expensive places to buy LEGO other than the US and UK.
I will be heading to the Brighton LEGO store in a matter of minutes to pick a Tumbler up.
Had to buy a £1.50 Mini Fig (with £3 postage), to complete my VIP membership, to buy a £160 lego set... What was the point? Just let me be a VIP to begin with!
Link is not working in the USA. Even after loggin in and out several times and re-clicking on the link, Tumbler still not available to put into bag to buy.
Just a heads up.
If you put anything in your shopping bag you will get a note that the Site is experiencing 'technical difficulties'; orders won't be processed for 24 hours, product availability may be inaccurate and VIP points won't be available either (for 24 hours?) which I was counting on.
Glad to say that I am not interested in the set.
I've bought one, but I kind of wish I hadn't. I bet there'll be a polybag threshold spend offer by the time this is on general release, and obviously I won't be getting it.
Which reminds me: does anyone have any news on the Lego.com upcoming freebies?
It is now showing up in the US website.
@CalumHeath Nothing announced yet for UK/Europe yet for September. The US will have the spaceman and Chima sets we had here in July.
Really don't like this set the more I look at it. Which is just as well, really, as it's way too expensive.
While I like the set and am a vip I think I'll wait for double points or a sale/free poly bag to get it. Getting something early is nice but if I have to pay full price and get no other benefits I can wait.
I'm VIP too but I'm not going to pick it up.
A beautiful masterpiece but only for display and far too expensive (IMHO).
Order placed. So excited to finally have a UCS Tumbler!
Order placed, VIP points cashed in removing 64% of the price tag - been saving those points for a while :-)
Can't wait to build this beautiful monster.
@gmonkey76 - You get a free mini Mini Cooper Model and a comic with purchase.
Despite having R2D2, the Sandcrawler, and the Rancor Pit waiting to build, this was an instant purchase. Really need to find some time to build all of these!
The minifigs look great but I'm more interested in seeing the techniques they have used to build this. I've purposefully avoided part 2 of the review to avoid any spoilers - can't wait!
I just visited my local LEGO Store — holly moly, this thing is ENORMOUS.
And I had specifically watched the video to get a sense of scale, and had a quick glimpse at the first pages of the instructions, and counted the studs and all, but I was still way off. It is literally twice the size I thought it would be. A monster.
Going to wait for Double Points (hope it doesn't sell out). I don't have time to build it now anyways.
I am really curious how much the minifigures will sell for. I'd guess like $30 or so for the Joker one for sure.
Got it, building it!
Deep joy.
:-)
The set looks great. I think it would be a nice display piece. I have plenty of other sets that will EOL before this one, so I'll wait, but I do plan on picking it up eventually.
The figures are a great selling point. I can imagine them going for a lot more than people think just because this particular Joker has been on a lot of people's wishlists. That will easily tip the scales. (I hope I'm wrong considering if found cheap enough, I'd just buy the figures).
Its going to end up at £40-£50 for the Joker I'd Imagine.
As much as I want this, black is a color way too common in my tubs as is. If it was in the military camp color scheme as was before getting Batcaved... Could use the wheels, figs, likele the smalls. Windows are a maybe. Price seems high as well. Might be going for an assorted purchase of kit types come September August end. Especially as it seems to reward me the Chi ma bike and that classic space guy poly baggies.
Maybe I should make a faux wallet with all the black in this thing. UCS Wallet confirmed???
gmonkey76 has it right - no benefit to buy it now even if one is a VIP. It's too expensive to sell out, unlike, cough cough, the Idea sets from a couple of weeks ago. Waiting until double points get applied.
@eechiwawa Thanks for the response. I grabbed a few of the retro spacemen, Chima (not a big fan of that) and the mini cooper. I'm looking forward to seeing what we get next.
Got mine yesterday and had a few awesome hours of building last night, will finish today after work. Just wanted to say that my local Lego store got 10 for the VIP sale... when I got there at 2PM, 6 had sold and "the phone was ringing off the hook" for it. For those of you saying it's fragile and blah blah, you really couldn't be more wrong. It's massive, solid, and the techniques used will blow your mind. The store employee felt it would sell out by the end of the day and that it would be hard to keep around. Underestimate the awesomeness of this set if you want to, you'll be sorry you missed out. Got another Mini poly-bag and a pretty sweet comic book with mine as well, just FYI.
out of stock u.s.
^ Out of stock, expected ship date 2 Sep 2014, so it'll ship once it goes on sale to the general public. October seems to always have Double VIP points. I'm waiting.
What is the big appeal for buyers with this set? Is it the build, the Batman theme, the mini figures or the unique vehicle itself? I never liked the vehicle in the movie, so the Lego version is just as goofy, but a lot of people are excited about it, so I just thought I'd ask.
