LEGO Nike Dunk and summer LEGO+Nike experiences announced!

Posted by ,

LEGO announced a partnership with Nike last summer and the first results of the partnership have today been unveiled, including 43008 Nike Dunk, which is available to pre-order now! The press release follows:

NIKE and the LEGO Group Celebrate Global Multi-Year Partnership with New Products and Engaging Experiences This Summer Based in Active and Creative Play

Nike and the LEGO Group today announced that their global multi-year partnership kicks off this summer with a series of immersive experiences and co-branded products designed to inspire kids everywhere to embrace the joy of active and creative play.

The partnership brings together the "Just Do It" spirit of Nike with the imaginative power of LEGO bricks to invite all kids into sport and play. Over the upcoming months kids can enjoy the opportunity to engage in immersive experiences across different cities around the world, as well as a full collection of products, including LEGO sets and Nike footwear, apparel and accessories.

In addition, three-time WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson will support the partnership by helping to engage kids through a reimagined world of play that will come to life across digital channels. More information on this will be announced in the upcoming weeks.

Wilson said: "I have loved playing with LEGO bricks since I was a kid and know that my creativity and play helped me not only in sports but also at school and in life. I’m thrilled to be part of this partnership with Nike and the LEGO Group and know we can help to make a positive impact with kids and adults alike."

Winning Products for Kids

43008 Nike Dunk
Rated 10+, 1,180 pieces
$99.99 / £89.99 / €99.99
Available at LEGO.com from 1st July

The first LEGO product goes on sale on July 1, with the LEGO Nike Dunk set. This 1180-piece set, for LEGO fans aged 10 and up, features a Nike Dunk, rotatable brick basketball toy and iconic 'Dunk' slogan that sports fans can build, rebuild and display. Hidden within the Nike Dunk model are stash compartments to safely store championship rings or other essentials, as well as extra laces for custom colour swap-outs. Inspired by the iconic sneaker, first born and worn over 40 years ago, this set is a celebration of sneaker culture and LEGO creativity that blends the worlds of building and basketball. The set also comes with a unique basketball minifigure - B’Ball Head. Additional LEGO sets will go on sale in September, with more information to be released this summer.

The first Nike products will go on sale starting on August 1 beginning with the Nike Air Max Dn x LEGO Collection as well as a line of apparel and accessories, followed on September 1 by the Nike Dunk Low x LEGO Collection and more, all celebrating the lifestyle of sport and play. The design of these products was inspired by the unique LEGO design aesthetic, from the iconic stud to the stylised LEGO Minifigure, combined with the power of sport culture and DNA that Nike brings. Additional Nike footwear and apparel will be unveiled through the fall. More information will be released at a later date.

Experiences Rooted in Active and Creative Play

Both brands are committed to enabling access to active and creative play for communities around the world and have backed efforts for the United Nations to designate June 11 as the International Day of Play.

Over the coming months Nike and the LEGO Group will bring play and fun to communities with unforgettable, experiential activations. From 7-11 June 2025, the Nike and LEGO Play Arena will be open to the public at LEGOLAND California Resort. At this basketball-themed experience children and families can design their own LEGO Minifigure athlete trading card, showcase their creative spirit by building their very own mini basketball jersey and test their skills by shooting for the ultimate 3-pointer. Access to the Play Arena is included with general admission at LEGOLAND California Resort.

Against the backdrop of summer football in Europe, from July 19-July 27, fans are invited to take part in a creative world of play at Nike’s and the LEGO Group’s football activation in London. Families will be able to see and participate in programming geared toward kids that centres on and celebrate football, with energy days in partnership with nonprofit organisations that will focus on building girls’ confidence.

In Greater China, Nike will amplify the energy of the partnership across Shanghai, Beijing, and other key cities with a number of co-branded community events and in-store displays and activations at the Shanghai House of Innovation. In the fall, Nike will unveil a multi-functional playground made of recycled shoes in Shanghai. Igniting active play in kids, the court is part of a commitment Nike made to build 100 Nike Grind courts across Greater China, with 42 already built as of this year, creating tangible social impact while helping ensure the future of the planet and sport. More information on this event will be released at a later date.

The rollout of Nike and LEGO co-branded products, athlete content and immersive experiences will be supported across Nike and the LEGO Group’s channels, and will feature through-the-line marketing support.

The LEGO Nike Dunk set is available for pre-order from May 29th at LEGO.com/Nike, and available for all via LEGO.com/Nike and LEGO Stores from July 1st, priced at €99.99 / $99.99 / £89.99. Products will also be available via Nike channels, including in select Nike stores across the globe and via Nike.com. The Nike Dunk Low x LEGO Collection and Nike Air Max Dn x LEGO Collection will be available across Nike channels, including Nike.com and select retail partners.

LEGO previously produced 10282 Adidas Originals Superstar, which was an interesting idea, but its execution was questionable. I think the Nike Dunk looks better, but what do you think of 43008 Nike Dunk? Let us know in the comments.

Will you be buying this set?

Yes, as soon as it's released
Yes, eventually
Yes, if it's discounted
Maybe, I haven't made up my mind yet
No, it doesn't interest me
No, it's too expensive
No, it's too big
No, but I like it

By in United States,

Those alternate lime laces aren't printed? Yikes. I dunno...it's not for me but it's kinda fun, i guess. I can see sneakerheads liking this? Maybe. Eh, whatever.

Gravatar
By in Norway,

Kind of like the minifigure (nice legprinting) but the rest? Not for me.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

The minifig is neat, but I ain't no sneakerhead.

Gravatar
By in United States,

At first I thought of Tex Richman at the end of The Muppets, "Will you please stop singing? You've already sung this song." But, this is different enough to hold my attention for a few minutes. That minifigure is interesting, with dual-molded legs that have front and side printing, and an unmistakable head. The fact that it fits in the shoe plants ideas of a HHGG "Heart of Gold" spaceship modification. With a spherical head one could swap the legs for short legs and repaint it to turn it into Marvin the Paranoid Android.

PS: Can we leave out the mention in every single press release and product description that "This Lego set promotes and enables creativity"? Sets that are designed to be assembled according to exactly one set of instructions promote as much creativity as an IKEA bookcase.

Ok, the basketball head minfig is a great move. Well done Lego.

@Murdoch17 pretty much sums this up entirely... Why?

Just who is the target market for these? Even people who collect trainers seem to be dying out and willing to pay far less then they used to be for a pair, so a lego version is appealing to just who exactly? And when theres hundreds of the previous Adidas attempt for sale on bricklink, brand new and sealed for far less then they cost to buy originally, so there isn't even a secondary market for those scalpers who'll buy it to sell on in future.

I dunno, the brick-built basketball's pretty cool.

not sure if I will pick it up, but as a graphic designer, I have definitely been nerding out over the recent brick built typography with the Marvel and Star Wars logos and now this.

I imagine enough time has passed for LEGO to assess the performance of 10282 Adidas Originals Superstar and consider this set worthwhile, but it does surprise me. This is only anecdotal, but I have never seen a set clog the shelves like the Adidas Superstar did around Christmas in 2021, especially in UK supermarkets.

whatta mess

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Reminder before you continue reading the comments that the crossover between the target demographic of who this set is likely to appeal to and the demographic of Brickset commenters is likely to be vastly different, and so the comments and poll will reflect that.

This should do well with sneakerheads and hopefully interest a few more kids and teens into joining (or rejoining after a dark period!) the LEGO hobby.

I like the minifig, it’s pretty cute (I wonder if the old NBA figures can hold the head?) and the basketball is charming in it’s blockiness. The shaping of fonts and letters in LEGO sets recently is very impressive.

Same reason why Fortnite characters started to wear Nike shoes recently. As I recall, it's called — Brand Promotion, or something like that. It's espicially effective with the adolescent audience.

Interesting that this is a display Icons 18+ set, rebranded as 10+ without the boring black box art.

Lego please learn and make 18+ Icon set boxart more colourful.

By in United Kingdom,

Quite a lot of Negatives. Its on my wanted list already... Im not a "Sneakers" fan, I dont watch Basketball. It just a great design, Nice Figure, little storage locations for figure and alt laces. A ball, even the Dunk looks good. Very Clever.

Just wish that Lego would release accurate sales figures so it's not such a mystery as to how well they've done, or why so many of them seem to sell so well/poorly in places. I don't remember seeing very many on shelves when they were out, probably due to lack of interest blanking them from my mind, but as said, given the huge number on the secondary market they must have sold to someone in the first place... Still gotta question just who though?

Gravatar
By in United States,

The bit of the instagram video where the minifig rips his own head off and dunks it will haunt my nightmares. Otherwise, seems cool!

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I wonder how that head compares to other sizes of existing spheres. Might be funny to see that rolling around a GBC

Gravatar

@CapnRex101 The discounted Stuntz sets also made nice shelfwarers
Sets like 60339 and 60361 are still being sold

In the words of Ogilvie Maurice Hedgehog (AKA Sonic):

"Whoa, that's interesting! But I sure don't care!"

Gravatar
By in United States,

I think it's a cool and unique (and reasonably priced) display model, but as a non-sports person I would never buy this.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I preferred the LEGO Adidas partnership. I even have one pair of the shoes.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I do like the basketball head guy.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I've never been a fan of Lego sneakers, either as MOCs or official sets (e.g. 10282) and the Dunk isn't a silhouette I've ever liked, but I kind of like the DUNK sign for this one and it's cool to get a minifigure with real sneakers on!

Gravatar

The actual Nike Dunk Low looks good.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Another easy pass. Thanks LEGO.

Gravatar

I guess there will be an audience for sets like this.....I'm clearly not part of it. But guess it is effective though: I now know of the existence of a Nike Dunk sneaker, probably would never have otherwise.

Doesn't surprise me. I mean, who buys just one shoe...? ;-)

Also, someone's not technically a 'scalper' if they buy and (try to) resell items that are readily available. Some might call them opportunistic, or 'investors', but the Adidas set certainly isn't one you're likely to flip for anything over its suggested retail price. You're better off reselling an actual pair of Adidas or Nikes. There is quite a bit of scalping going on with CMFs though.

On topic: I like the build and the fig's alright, but I'm not interested in getting this. This looks purely like a set made for cross-brand promotion and nothing else. If it doesn't sell, it ends up being a write off. Corporate hussle.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Not the first collaboration between TLG and Nike. Anyone remember the BIONICLE shoes?

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'll echo a bunch of other comments here and say that I like the basketball minifigure.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Another perfect set for my podcast setup that I totally have.

Gravatar
By in United States,

More people would have bough this if it was just the shoe for like $30. Nobody will buy this.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Another day, another press release of a new random licensed Lego display slop-item.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Did anyone else notice the number on the basketball guy's torso?

Gravatar
By in United States,

That's a hard no for me. Maybe if it was an early Air Jordan, maybe.

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

The poll speaks volumes.

Gravatar
By in South Africa,

Another dust collector retailers will dread having in their stockrooms, destined for big discounts just to get rid of them.

Deeply suspect that the set itself won't turn a profit and it'll be Nike footing the bill for what is essentially a glorified ad

Gravatar
By in United States,

Not interested

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Same. Easy pass. The poll needs to be mult-choice; doesn't interest me, too expensive.

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

This should've just been a pair of the shoes. The shoe looks pretty good, certainly a lot better than the Adidas one from years ago. The rest, ehh... the basketball looks like something LEGO made 15 years ago, it is too small and crude to look good in 2025. The DUNK logo means absolutely nothing to me, just a waste of bricks. I like the minifigure though. A pair of shoes with many colour customisation options plus the minifigure could've been a pretty good set.

And yes, we here aren't the target audience, but what sneakerheads are going to shell out $100 for this when they could spend it on their actual hobby instead? I know I probably wouldn't spend $100 on a regular Optimus Prime figure when I could spend it on the LEGO Optimus Prime instead.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I think it looks pretty cool, but I'm not really a sneakerhead so not planning to purchase.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I think the set looks really great and the price doesn't seem bad either especially compared to some other sets this year. Won't be personally buying the set.

Gravatar
By in United States,

While I’m not interested in the product itself, it looks like we’re getting some new 1x3x2/3 bows!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Not at all of interest to me - but I think it looks very well-designed and beautifully shaped.

It was only when reading this comment that I realized this was a different brand than the other brick-built shoe.

Gravatar
By in Japan,

While I'm not that much a fan of Lego display sets (i prefer more the playable kind), I'm very much a fan of Nike shoes and have constantly owned a pair among my footwear since my secondary school days. However, the minifigure is a very nice touch and i hope one day i can join it with 40486. Pricewise it's a little steep for what it is so I'll wait till the price goes down. Just do it!

@EtudeTheBadger said:

Bionicle shoes!? Now that i have to see!

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I like the set. Shoe is very recognisable as a Dunk, the letters are greatly done, a basketball, a weird cool looking minifig, what’s not to like here.
I am not the biggest sneakerhead, but a lot of friends do and maybe i’ll grab this set after all. But i believe there are still two other upcoming nike sets in the pipeline, so i’ll wait for them first

The way I see it "scalpers" are the ones solely buying stuff with limited availability to quickly resell it at a massively inflated price (concert tickets.....), while "investors" are in it for the long run, hoping that stuff that's indeed readily available and maybe doesn't even sell that well now becomes sought after in the future. Which I can very well see happen with either this or the Adidas set. I don't mind that. But for the scalpers....may they step on Lego bricks with their bare feet every day of their lives! Gravatar
By in Canada,

Hope this goes cheap and gets parted out, I'd love to get the minifig for a reasonable price.

Zero interest in the rest of the set. Several sets now that are logo words, I really don't see the appeal.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Add another set to the list of "Made to look good in the background of a podcast" sets.

It's not for me, and I don't really get who it is for. Sneakerheads, maybe? Is there sneakerhead/Lego crossover fandom? That said, it doesn't look bad. I dig the 'bumpy' basketball at that scale. The shoe and logo look good for what they are. And the minifig is great. For the people who like this kind of thing, this is the kind of thing those people like, I guess.

I LOVE the box, though. Not a fan of the "It's black, so you know it's for classy adults who buy classy adult things" 18+ boxes at all. This box looks great, in my opinion.

While we agree on the definitions, I wouldn't wish stepping on a LEGO brick to my worst enemy -- not even scalpers. That said, there are companies out there who have a better grip on scalping, although there's always the chance that it'll devaluate (the perceived value of) the product in the long run.

Yes, Im guessing you are you referring to the first 32 rows of Pascal's triangle reading as single binary numbers representing the 32 divisors that belong to this number, which is also the number of sides of all odd-sided constructible polygons with simple tools alone (if the monogon is also included). Cool reference.

Or may be just a reference to a certain famous sportsman.

This minifig should be right at home in Lego Fortnite.

I have both 10302 and 10338, and while they're easily the most expensive Optimus and Bumblebee figures I've bought, if I were still able to get out and about as much as I did before my stroke, I would continue buying figures of both of those characters. Not sure...actually, quite sure...you don't know that demographic well. As an avid sneakerhead- with Jordan brand and Nike comprising about 70% of my collection- AND an AFOL, this is a day one buy for me. Of course I have the Adidas, but I don't actually wear the shell toe sneaker. I've owned Dunks since day one and still have my original pair. DAY ONE.

What a tone-deaf racist grievance, but not a surprise from someone who made that choice for the latter half of their username. Showing non-white people doesn't mean white people are excluded. Brickset didn't post every photo from the press kit, but I don't think anyone will be surprised to learn there are also images with white kids in them.

Be a better person and leave that kind of garbage off this site, Michael.

By in Colombia,

Why is there a feature to store the minifigure in the sneaker? What purpose does that have?

By in Canada,

Judging from the set ID (not the usual 10xxx in Icons, and not as a 40xxx GWP either), the recommended age (10+), the arrangement of placing the Nike logo next to the Lego logo, its own themed box design language, I think perhaps it is more appropriate to categorize this set as the first set in its own theme - theme Nike?

There will certainly be more Nike-themed sets releasing soon.

By in Poland,

What shade of green is used here?

By in Germany,

What a mess of a set. If the Minifig came with a micro built sneaker, I might have bought it.
P.S. Looks like the M&T Olympus Basketball Hoop is being shown in the last image.

By in United Kingdom,

Never heard of Nike or basketball before. Why do Lego keep doing niche themes?

...hm. I wonder if they're to scale? Wait, no, shows come in different sizes. I wonder if they match?

Storage, presumably.

I understand that but when will you ever want to store the minifigure away but not the whole set?

By in Netherlands,

Just a good idea for people out here with big city lay-outs: you can use it as big advertising on top of a building. It’s big and you need a big building for it, but it does look great!

I showed a sneakerhead friend this set. His only answer was: When?!

By in Poland,

Very interesting poll results, is it worst result ever here? :D

Thing is we are representing "advanced" Lego fans if we are reading Lego news not average folks.
Yes, it's another "weird thing display set" but actually it's executed in interesting way, looks quite good, price is fine, it's not exclusive, so I think many young ppl (maybe not even sneakers fans) will want it or will get it as gift.

No, it doesn't interest but not every Lego has to be for me/AFOLs :)

Yes, take "all parts are Space parts" to its logical conclusion. All sets are Space sets!

I like it - I don’t want it at all, but it seems good fun and a step up from the last trainer.

By in United States,

I was looking for a shoe with stiffer soles, and this might just fit the bill…

Gravatar
By in United States,

Too bad they had to pick such an ugly shoe to legoify (not talking about the set talking about the nike air max dn shoe)

The minifig from the set looks really cool, might pick that up, but definitely not the full set unless on deep deep discount (which seems likely tbh)

The sneaker fandom is truly something I will never understand.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The sneaker is going to be made in sweatshops for pennies and then sold for overinflated price to dumb kids? I don't get it. LEGO, stick with unlicensed normal affordable sets.

By in Netherlands,

Who exactly is this for?
