LEGO ONE PIECE sets revealed!

LEGO ONE PIECE was announced in January and the first wave of sets inspired by the Netflix series has today been revealed!

The LEGO Group and Netflix Reveal a Treasure Trove of ONE PIECE Sets!

Today, the LEGO Group together with Netflix and Tomorrow Studios, set sail for new adventures as they unveil the first full line up of highly anticipated LEGO ONE PIECE products. Based on the live-action show produced by Netflix and Tomorrow Studios, and ahead of the epic return of ONE PIECE Season 2, these new sets bring iconic scenes from Netflix’s ONE PIECE Season 1 to life in LEGO brick form for the very first time, allowing fans to build their own ONE PIECE adventures and unite the Straw Hat Pirates.

Based on Eiichiro Oda’s legendary and beloved manga series, the first season of ONE PIECE sailed into Netflix’s Global Top 10 Shows where it spent eight weeks uniting fans of all ages in celebration of the Straw Hat’s voyage of hope and boundless spirit of adventure.

The collaboration between the LEGO Group, Netflix and Tomorrow Studios invites ONE PIECE fans from around the world to follow the action and embark on their own grand adventures with multiple new LEGO sets, inspired by some of the most iconic scenes straight out of the East Blue.

"Bringing the Straw Hat Pirates in LEGO brick form to fans worldwide has been a dream assignment", said Yi-Chien Cheng, Associate Design Lead on LEGO ONE PIECE. Well, LEGO anime... sort of?

Never really got into One Piece so don't think I need any of these, although I like these. THe WIndmill Village Hut and Pirate SHip look great.

If they ever did Spy X Family, I'd get the whole wave in a heartbeat.

By in Belgium,

Wait these prices are actually… decent?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Only thing I will comment on about the Baratie is that the absolute GOAT Bogard isn't included smh... If you know you know..

LEGO ONE PIECE IS REAL!!!!!

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

Floating Restaurant is very cool, zero interest in the rest

Gravatar
By in United States,

Looks cool, but it's not my thing.

Gravatar
By in United States,

So they HAVEN'T retired or canceled the long, rubbery arms torso. That Mr. Fantastic figure looks worse by the day!

These look great! Not super familiar with the anime/manga/live action, but these sets are honestly better than what I was expecting for the license.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The Going Merry looks fantastic. Definitely one to buy.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Must admit, I’ve never heard of One Piece, however a lot of these sets actually look really good and for once, the prices don’t seem ridiculous. More-so for a licensed theme.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

The way the mouth sword is not a neck attachement but a piece that clips onto the minifigure from the front and can still be used as a regular sword by a minifigure is GENIUS! They really put their all into these sets. I have never watched a single episode of One Piece but these sets are great design, with lots of new molds for minifigures, and very decent prices - this is PEAK and shows us what Lego could be if they actually put effort into a theme. I hope to see my favorite themes get the One Piece treatment one day lol

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm a sucker for "pirate" boats and old wooden ships. But these don't interest me at all. I don't watch the show, so don't have any connection to the underlying story. And visually, these just look more cartoonish than the POC or classic Pirates sets.

Regarding the box-art, I think it's all based on the Live-Action series. While the Anime doesn't do much for me either, I DO recommend the life-action Netflix series, as the have translated the anime-wackyness pretty well!

That said: The Restaurant looks strangely 2d to me. On the other hand, a fully built model would require an insanely high price.

By in Japan,

At last!! I've been waiting with baited breath for these! The sets look awesome and find a good balance between the live-action and the manga in terms of Lego-style. I thought I'd be ok with only a few sets but each have their appeal! (Oh my poor wallet!) The Brickheadz are also a nice surprise too! I'm looking forward to see what any GWP or price threshold will be offered, especially in Japan! WE ARE!

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Wait is the yellow straw hat a separate piece that attaches ON TOP of the hair piece??? Or do they include the hat, the hair as well as the hat + hair combo piece???

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Never watched this anime but 75639 does make a nice pirate ship.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I never watched the anime, but fell completely in love with the Netflix live-action adaption (it was my first ever Netflix show).

They'll be expensive, I imagine, but I'm buying that Going Merry as soon as I see it, I absolutely love it.

I also really like the gimmick of the random "Wanted" posters, and you can buy the small hut to display them. That's cool. I'm okay with that.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I am so happy that I can finally say "never heard of it", which is usually a typical AFOL comment particularly around Taylor Swift, Elvis, Animal Crossing, modern art etc.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Yes, as soon as [they're] released!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

So Lego One Piece isn't an April Fool's joke... Shocked!

Gravatar
By in United States,

These look great, might get a couple of them. But yeah, not to take away from One Piece, but this really makes me even more furious over how phoned in the Fantastic Four set was…

Gravatar
By in South Africa,

These are cool, but I'm more a fan of the anime and manga than the Netflix series, so not cool enough for me to drop cash on them. The aesthetics are similar, but the differences are enough to put me off getting these sets (for one, the Netflix colours just seem more muted to me).
I also think there is a missed opportunity of not using Pinocchio's head mould for Usopp, but I guess that would be more in line with his anime look rather than the Netflix look

Gravatar
By in Germany,

These sets look really cheap. The ship doesn't even have cloth sails. It's all foil pieces. None of the minifgures match the source material except maybe Zorro and Sanji. Then again, this was doomed from the very start because of Netflix.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

looks like there is more than 1 piece in those sets to me....

Gravatar
By in United States,

Can’t remember if the rowboat is new in that color, but I see a new snail body, a bar with hand element, and the dude with the mouth-sword is going to need massive amounts of dental reconstruction.

@GirlWoman said:

That was the question when Jack Sparrow was unveiled, and it was two different elements. Bandana by itself, and bandana with hat attached. They did the same thing for Indiana Jones recently, where you can give him hair or hair-with-hat, but in both cases the hat was not removable from the hair/bandana.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Honestly, I forgot this was even going to be a theme shortly after it was announced. A couple of the sets look interesting.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I’ve never seen an episode of the anime or the live action adaptation, but it’s so good to see a full wave of sets with this much detail packed in. I’m happy for the fans! I might get the circus tent for myself. I like to collect Lego clowns.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Generally, I'm very excited for these! I've wanted LEGO One Piece sets and anime sets for almost ten years now, so seeing they finally pick up a franchise that has its origin in manga/anime is something worth celebrating!

It being based ont the live action is admittedly a bummer, some figure designs feel a little too far from what I want them to be (Usopp, Garp), but others are great (Sanji, Shanks, Luffy). All in all, this is a solid start of the theme, and I'll be getting some sets for sure.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Do these sets include hats, hair and also hats with moulded hair? Wild.

Just look at the pictures where it is not attached to a minifigure, I'm not speculating here.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Yes but for none of these did they include all three versions in one set. They do in 75636 (look at back of the box)

Gravatar
By in Ukraine,

Ummmm... What?

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I haven't heard or seen anything about this franchise before, but the LEGO sets look like the designers dumped together a bunch of Ninjago, DC, Marvel and a few Pirate sets (Maybe a Moana one as well) and tried to see what they could build with the parts. I think I'll be passing on these.

Gravatar
By in United States,

these prices are actually pretty descent, which is very encouraging to see

Gravatar
By in Portugal,

Looks like the US tariffs are finally showing up :-)

Loved the price difference in eur and usd on The Baratie :-)

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Great sets! Luckily i am not into collecting this theme, otherwise i would buy them all (except for the brickheadz). I do like One Piece though, but i got to draw a line with collecting. The builds look super fun, the characters look alike the Netflix version and the prices are good. Great!

And for the people who didn’t have seen either the anime or the netflix version, go watch it. I always read comments like “i don’t know what this theme is supposed to be”, “who are these sets for, i don’t know this theme” just broaden your vision and learn about stuff. You might be surprised and start loving something new.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Ah yes Party's beachside "Store", which has many cups, a bar, menu, and barstools... DEFINITELY not a bar!

These look neat, but most lean towards the upper price points which mean I likely can't get any outside the Not-a-Bar or the Circus tent.

I didn’t want to be tempted by this theme, but these look like a lot of fun. A great balance of play and display. The colors really work for me

Gravatar

Its a bit odd seeing The Baratie Floating Restaurant being a large ship facade play set, when we are just about the get the same thing with the Goonies set. Guess large ship facade play sets, are like busses!

Gravatar
By in United States,

New LEGO themes are always a treat! These sets look great, I know nothing about the show (I've only heard of it and know the main character has stretchy powers) but I would be interested in picking up the two biggest sets for sure. Love the minifigures (new hair molds for the win!!) and I'm happy to see the stretchy arm piece back! It's a shame it wasn't used for Mr. Fantastic but hopefully he gets it in his next set appearance.

What also let me joilt back with surprised reject is the creepy ugly (AI generated?) Luffy in the bottom left corner of the boxes. Jiiiikes!!!!"

That's just Luffy's actor Iñaki Godoy with a filter to make it look "rustic" and "pirate-y" no need to be mean to the guy

The Going Merry is particularly well done. Fans of the series (of which I am one) will like this.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Sets look great, was not expecting this. The 18+ box art for the big set really does not work with the set, especially when the box art for the other sets are this beautifully done.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I have very little knowledge of this IP; the Brickheadz are definitely not for me but I will most likely get the pirate ship in due time (even if it does not seem to have real cannons). I have not made my mind yet on the Baratie floating restaurant but it certainly is eye catching.

My only frustration is: with the tons of sets released this year, none (yet) have the parts recolour I need for my MOCs - last year was good for me on that front, this year, not so much. Ah well, I guess I'll have to wait a bit longer...

Overall, I think most sets of this line look good and/or interesting (but then again I just watched less than 5 min. of it on youtube) and am happy for the fans of the series.

Gravatar

He just looks so completely out of place, maybe I expected the anime characters as I have never seen the life adaptation.
Lego minifigs lend themselves to an association with anime/comic and not real life persons.

And FMPOV he looks nothing like Luffy in the first place.
Luffy has straight hair, Inaki curled hair.
Luffy's hair is jet black, Inaki's hair is dark brown.
Luffy has a flat, "plasticy" face, even when broadly smiling, Inaki has pretty deep face folds.

Seems like Lego just did not get the original license so they had to use the live actors to get the IP to the market."

I think the Netflix show hits that rare mark of “the characters may not be _accurate_but the casting was perfect.” As a fan of the anime/manga, I really enjoy the live action adaptation.

These sets aren’t perfect, but they are pretty great, and some of them are 100 percent destined for our Pirates layout.

As was noted previously, WE ARE!

So does 31109 Pirate Ship for the same price, and has been available for over 5 years.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I know others have already said it above, but, at least based on price-per-piece, as a whole theme lineup, theseare some of the best prices we've seen on Lego sets in YEARS. Every single set comes in at 10-cents-USD-per-piece or LESS, with several of them coming in at well under that. Considering that it's a licensed theme this shocked the hell out of me and it definitely raises my hopes of being able to get a couple of these.

I mean, heck, even with the Brickheadz that I normally wouldn't pay much attention to, I would have expected them to *maybe* do a two-pack for $25.

Instead, Luffy is 136 pieces for $10 flat, meaning a 7.4 cents per piece price (and thus an excellent value for a main character).

But, more shockingly, Buggy is *176* pieces for $10 flat, meaning an ASTOUNDING *5.68 cents per piece* price, *and* he's full of unique colors and pieces, meaning that he can even avoid the usual "less-popular-than-main-character" curse purely on being an INCREDIBLE value as a parts/color pack alone!

Lego has really done an amazing job with the value on this line, and given that we've been absolutely awash in an ocean (no pun intended) of overpriced nonsense for ages with so many theme lines, I really feel the need to give them kudos for how well they've done with One Piece on this point.

Gravatar
By in United States,

These sets actually look really amazing. Which is a nice surprise. I don't have any connection to this show but I know many people who would be really interested in these sets.

Also the sword mouth piece looks awesome and looks like it was inspired by the older Lego katana piece .

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

No thanks, I'll wait for the new Black Pearl in September, though I have one already, so I'm not sure if it will tempt me.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Not the biggest fan of the Live Action, so most of these sets are a skip for me, but I will be grabbing the Going Merry and throwing some classic eyes on her to make the manga/anime version. May also get Arlong Park Nami on BL since that’s my favorite moment in the show.

Gravatar
By in Puerto Rico,

They actually made a new piece for Zoro to hold his three swords?

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Don't know the source material and am not really interested in any of these, but at least the RRPs don't seem as ridiculous as on many other licensed sets.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

It's too bad these are based on the live action show rather than the anime.

I may still get the Going Merry as it looks pretty good. Who knows, that may pull me in to getting more...

The latter (though some sets only seem to include the combined version and some only include the separated versions). You can tell most clearly in the mid-assembly lifestyle photos for 75636 (under "more images"), where the separate versions of Shanks's hair and hat are on the far left and the combined version is on the minifigure.

@Garyslaw said:
"Correct me if I'm wrong, but is Buggy the Clown the first BrickHead to use light nougat instead of light tan as it's skin tone?"

Nah, not the first. That'd be Enid from 40750. It is kinda surprising that this year's Star Wars BrickHeadz didn't follow suit, though. Maybe it's a case where they want to keep older and newer Star Wars BrickHeadz consistent in that respect, but are willing to use light nougat for IPs that hadn't had any BrickHeadz sets of their own previously.

Anyway, I'm familiar with One Piece, but I've never gotten around to reading/watching it myself. It definitely seems like a great IP for LEGO, though, especially with the zany aesthetics and the multi-generational appeal a long-running series that's been adapted to so many different formats tends to bring! These builds all look both fun to play with and attractive for display, with lots of creative functions and building techniques.

Obviously some of the new molds like Buggy's hat and Mihawk's sword seem pretty specific so I'd expect them to be IP-locked, but hopefully some of the other new hair and headgear pieces (like Usopp's bandana and dreads) will show up in other themes so we can get them in more colors! I can also see a number of recolors that I imagine will prove very useful for both future sets and MOCs, like the Medium Nougat rowboat and 3x4 tile four studs (CMF stand). Zeff's hair and new mustache mold also seem like they might be the new-for-2025 color Ochre Yellow (previously only seen on the mane of one of the ponies in 42654).

Looks nice overall! Hopefully the sets will sell well and will lead to future waves of sets with just as much whimsy and excitement.

"Wait is the yellow straw hat a separate piece that attaches ON TOP of the hair piece??? Or do they include the hat, the hair as well as the hat + hair combo piece???"

That was the question when Jack Sparrow was unveiled, and it was two different elements. Bandana by itself, and bandana with hat attached. They did the same thing for Indiana Jones recently, where you can give him hair or hair-with-hat, but in both cases the hat was not removable from the hair/bandana."

Yes but for none of these did they include all three versions in one set. They do in 75636 (look at back of the box)"

And they’ve never done a hat that was molded to fit over an existing hairstyle. Closest we’ve seen is stuff that attaches to the top with hat-pins, like TLBM’s Nurse Harley, or the Steamboat Willie minifigs. Jack Sparrow never got both headgears in the same set. Some had the full hat combo, and others just the bandana. I think they did include a loose tricorne in at least one set, but it was for a different minifig (Cook). Original Indiana Jones either gave you a fedora or the basic male hairstyle, but I don’t think it ever had both in the same set (unless worn by other minifigs, like Shanghai Chase).

What I’m seeing here looks like a straw hat that will fit a standard minifig head, so any character can wear it, and a separate straw hat that is dual-molded with the hair, plus, yes, an additional new hairstyle. The loose hair just isn’t molded in such a way that it should be possible to blend with the hat how it’s shown in the inset photo. Besides that, doing a hat that could separate from the hair creates three problems. One is that it would exclusively work with one hairstyle, and you know kids are going to try to plonk that thing on any minifig regardless of grooming (including bald). Two is that it will work with that hairstyle exclusively in one orientation, which will be an absolute pain to figure out. And three is that there wouldn’t be a secure connection unless there was a groove molded into the hair that the hat could latch onto.

They’re clearly expecting this to be a big seller, based on the range and size of sets being offered right from the start. They’ve molded two new swords that are likely to be IP-locked, and only a couple new parts that could be universal. The Luffy hair (if it’s even a new mold) can be easily repurposed for other themes. I’m not so sure about the straw hat, but it wouldn’t be that big a deal to mold both hat and hat/hair with the understanding that the molds get retired as soon as the theme ends. But I guess we’ll find out for sure with the first set review.

By in Canada,

I like many of the minifigs, interesting accessories, prints, heads and arms colors. Not sure if I'll buy some sets or just the minifigs, I'll wait for a sale and if it's good enough I may pull the trigger.

I watched the series and I enjoyed it. I think it helps me appreciate the sets better.

The clown circus only shows a small section of the tent but it looks really nice.
Imagine a set with a full circus tent, it would be amazing, that would be awesome for a future City or Ideas set :)

Surprised that people are saying these are reasonably priced. Guess they must be going of Price per piece without realising the majority of part in these sets are small and/or common. The size of the sets themselves really don't feel like they command the price tags given to them to me. The Baratie looks kinda flat in the pictures, and the Windmill Hut looks like many of the sub £20 pocket money sets in size.

The sets and prices look really good to me! For a new theme with a bunch of new molds, they seem shockingly reasonable. I'm curious to see how big the sets are though since I seem to have trouble properly visualizing size. I do really appreciate that they have a variety of price points. I would love to get my hands on some of these new molds like the straw hat and new hair as well as the brilliant neck attachment sword.
Overall, I think this theme is a great addition, even if I don't have any interest in purchasing any set. Admittedly, I haven't really been buying sets in general any more due to price and space constraints though. Also, that new beard element would be great for HTTYD...

I tried the Americanized anime, and it quickly became apparent that it’s just not a show I could watch without it ending in violence, so I don’t think I made it more than 2-3 episodes. But there are two members of my LUG who are huge fans of that show (dunno if they’ll echo all the “wish they were based on the anime” comments, but at least this gets them parts they can use for MOCs). However, when I posted about this to my LUG’s Discord, two _other_ members quickly responded with enthusiasm, so I’m pretty sure we’re going to have some of these sets, and/or MOCs asked on the IP, on our layouts going forward. The $655 MSRP may put some of them in the hospital, though (one of the anime fans _also_ collects Brickheadz, so he doesn’t even get a $20 break on those).

Me, I’ve had a stupid MOC idea brewing for years, and considered putting the middle hull section on LUGBulk next year, _except_it_doesn’t_use_any_! Maybe I’ll get a slick of snails instead…

Wow...I actually think all of these are at least pretty decent sets, with some pretty great....I actually want that Baratie, and also the Going Merry! The smaller sets are more play than display sets, but seem pretty good for what they are, especially Arlong Park (though where's Kuroobi?). And I even like the BrickHeadz! And hey, even the prices don't seem too crazy....how did that happen?

This is the third time One Piece managed to positively surprise me: It was the first manga I've ever read and I immediately was sold (and so were the 64 available volumes at the time, read them all within 2 months....). The second time was with the live action, who would have expected it to be actually this good? And now with some good Lego sets? Good job!

10.2 cents per part for the pirate ship with its large sails (which, don't forget, add to the packaging cost, not just the production cost), and less than 10c per part for every other set, for an IP-licensed theme. Very nice prices! Has to be partially because Netflix and the animation studio can't command Disney/Marvel-level licensing fees - but also seems to be some good value designing from Lego.

I imagine a good number AFOLs interested in pirates and such will be snapping up and adapting the set - and I'm also expecting to see a more 3D version of the floating restaurant pop up on Rebrickable about 5 minutes after these sets go on sale. :-)

It 100% looks like a neck attachment to me…"

Just look at the pictures where it is not attached to a minifigure, I'm not speculating here."

What I’m seeing is two inward-facing hooks that looked spaced wide enough to fit around the neck at the base of the minifig head, not the neck post on the torso. I don’t know if it can be popped onto the neck, or removed without pulling the head loose at least a little bit, without causing damage. Now, whether that counts as a neck attachment is probably a matter of opinion, The tsuba looks oval, which is new (the original was octagonal, and PoP was square/vaguely hourglass-shaped), and the choice to make that one sword white and the other two black seems a bit weird (even if that’s how they appear in the series, it’s then weird that someone chose to do that). I agree that it does look like it _can_ be held in a minifig’s hand, but those hooks are going to run most of the way up the minifig’s arm. So, again, it’s going to look weird. But then again, we’re talking about a guy who’s wielding a third katana in his mouth. I think that ship has already sailed.

The ship has roughly the same PPP as the 3-in-1 Pirate Ship from 2020, so adjusted for inflation that was actually more expensive when it was released. So for a licensed theme, this is actually a very decent PPP.

Otherwise, all great sets.

I'm surprised they can use the rubber stretch arms for Luffy, but not Mr. Fantastic. Odd..

Either way, I have never watched or read anything involving One Piece other than knowing about it and it is a long running manga series.

With that said, the sets look interesting. I may pick up the ship just because I like pirate ships, but I can skip the rest. I don't have any affinity to any of the characters so don't need to run out and pick them all up.

Now if it was Hunter x Hunter series, I'd be game. But I know this is based on a live action Netflix show, so I can only hope they do other shows sometime in the future.

3-in-1 Pirate Ship had a price increase twice in Eurozone, it launched at €100 in 2020 , early 2022 increased that to €120 , then about August 2022 increased it to €130 (tracking LEGO.com price graph via brickmerge.de)

In Germany specifically the official price was €97,47 from July to December 2020 due to value added tax rate change from 19% to 16% during 2020 covid.

I don't know much about One Piece besides what I've seen of the very cartoony anime and manga ships in web searches, so I wasn't expecting to have any interest in these sets. But holy cow, the Going Merry is a nice ship. It might even be worth buying when there's a good GWP, instead of waiting and hoping for a 20% discount in a year or two. It's not much of a pirate ship compared to the Black Seas Barracuda, but it makes a fine merchant ship for the Barracuda to raid.

While I have zero interest in the IP, I think the sets here are good additions to Lego.

That pirate ship is great. I really hope it goes on sale so I can buy it and use it as a merchant ship in my 18th century maritime display.

The straw hat piece could be useful for a Girls College (Im thinking the days when schoolgirls wore hats like that and boys wore the older style baseball/flat cap eg Roald Dahl stories)

It will be really good if a spare sail from POBB fits that pirate ship because I dont like the straw hatted skull and crossbones.

As someone that's been a fan of One Piece since the start, it feels so wrong to me see Live Action Luffy on the box instead of Anime Luffy. I never watched the Netflix series because I never felt it was for me, doesn't mean I'm against it.
But seeing Lego versions of all the live action versions feels like I'm seeing the great value versions of each character.
HOWEVER, I'm still getting the sets. That Going Merry is GORGEOUS. I'll probably modify it a bit so that the cannon at the bow of the ship is more prominent like it's Anime counterpart rather than be a hidden play feature.

By in United States,

I watched a good amount of the anime many years ago, but was never much of a fan. However, I really enjoyed the Netflix version.

These sets include a lot of great new molds, parts, and fairly accurate renditions of the characters (live action). I am disappointed that Luffy gets dual-molded legs but not Nami. She will look silly without them. Not Clone Trooper kama silly, but close.

Also, the Arlong Park set seems a little disjointed and two-dimensional. The bar, ship, and ship-bar look like a lot of fun. The price is amazingly reasonable given the amount of minifigs with new molds and prints.

On the whole, the sets seem like they are targeted more towards kids than adults. That is, they seem a bit flat and lacking in more detail and architectural sophistication. This is a bit perplexing as the Netflix show definitely skews more toward adult themes of violence, drinking, and melancholy.

Thus, I'm surprised that these are a bit juniorized. Yet, the theme looks fun and somewhat affordable.

I think its great that Buggy can realistically be separated into 10 separate pieces.

I mean, as much as I love the manga....I also wasn't a fan of the anime. It's so slow (after all, they have to make 20 minutes of anime out of 10 weekly pages of manga), and with so much filler. But also, the humor just didn't click with me like it did in the manga. The live action on the other hand far exceeded my expectations. The only real problem I have with it is that at this pace the actors will be 80 even before we get to the time skip....

"On the whole, the sets seem like they are targeted more towards kids than adults. That is, they seem a bit flat and lacking in more detail and architectural sophistication. Even when it's based on the live action series, I'd say it's all close enough to appeal to manga/anime-only fans just as well. If only we could get some minifig heads with the anime faces.....

While not as old as you or I, it’s interesting to note that the One Piece manga premiered in 1997. So while the Netflix show is relatively new, the source material predates LEGO Star Wars. And … now you may continue to not be bothered by it. :)

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Really happy they went with the Netflix version, personally. It has a much wider appeal due to the lower barrier of entry and is an excellent adaptation of the source material with really fun and tight storytelling. Had an absolute blast watching the first season.

The Going Merry was always gonna be the, ahem, flagship set - and it has turned out really well in my opinion. It's large enough to be instantly recognisable and to incorporate many details, like the interior or the orange trees, which are a particularly nice touch. On the other hand it's compact enough to be reasonably affordable. The play functions don't get in the way of the displayability, a big plus for me. Figures look really good. Only downside so far are the stickers for the horns.

The other sets are not as interesting nor especially suitable for display, in my opinion - not an essential buy.
