The highly-anticipated LEGO Ideas set, 21359 Italian Riviera, is launched today, and 5009422 Italian Market Van is the gift with purchase for those who buy it before the 14th of August.

21359 Italian Riviera may not have all the charm of the Ideas submission, but it remains an excellent set, and it was much admired and pored over when I took it to my local LEGO meetup last week.

If you've not done so already, read our review, then place your order now to secure the GWP.

By in Australia,

Too expensive at $449.99 here. And GWP doesn’t really interest me. Will wait and see if it’s available at other retailers eventually or double points. I do like it though.

Bellissimo!

Just a bit too bland. The GWP should have been a bag of masonry bricks!

Highly anticipated? I am sure that label can be applied to many new releases, but to place it here is relatively surprising. Perhaps I missed something. That written, I hope it is a successful release and a set that is thoroughly enjoyed by those who purchase it.

By in Australia,

Lacks the charm of the original submission. Shame.

It’s just too expensive for the let down it is compared to the submission. It doesn’t even look like there’s a good place for the GWP to fit. It would take up almost the entire street.

By in Netherlands,

Really loved the build of the Italian Riviera, bought it this morning with a gift card I bought at 7% discount, along with €50 of insiders points, as well as a 3.7% cashback from my telecom provider as I used their link. However, the GWP isn't for me, I find it rather boring, it's like they forgot they wanted one and quickly put some stuff together to get an oversized little wagon.

By in Germany,

Nice, but imho not as nice as the original submission, and for me definitely not worth the money. Pass.

The title of most underwhelming set of the year for me has already gone to the River Steamboat.
I don’t want to provide any competition for it

By in Ireland,

I really like this set but when I see the original submission, I must admit that they really should have left in the little sandy beach along the shore, I think it would have been near perfect and extra charming if they had included it. Well, it is Lego though, so room for customisation.

Its my thing, but it looks pretty nice for people that would be interested

Im still waiting for the Ideas Godzilla that likely comes out next year and hope they don't mess it up.

By in Jordan,

I'm personally looking forward to picking it up at some point. Though there are some details I prefer on the original submission, the official set is an overall improvement IMO.

By in Puerto Rico,

Not that crazy for the GWP, so I might wait a bit before placing this big order, I'll wait until September to get it alongside the sets from One Piece.

But you could have the one steaming past the other! So American-style steamboats probably never go anywhere near the Italian Riviera, so what?

I do hope those who buy this enjoy it. It doesn't make sense to me, its like a modular but not compatible and considerably more expensive. Really doesnt display well even on it's own. I wouldn't know what to do with it after building..

Yeh, so what
Who cares, it’s Lego ;-)
I reckon you could get away with it :-)

No beach to run aground on though lol

By in Italy,

Here's my 2 cents (well, my 200+ euros, most likely): even though I totally agree with other fellow users about the original submission being a lot better than the official one, it is still a great idea and kudos to its original designer. The Cinque Terre "feel" is quite well caught and I'm pretty sure it won't get discounted that easily in the near future.

So I used up all my Insider credit and bought it day-one as planned. I can't wait to build it so I can expand it and create a little piece of Liguria in my diorama with mountains, little harbours, railway track running right above the little seaside hamlet and such. I'm a big fan of this set.

Lego lists this as being 13 inches wide, but when I see a top down view and count the studs it appears to be wider. I have an Ikea Kallax as my display area. Would anyone be able to verify that it will fit in a Kallax shelf space?
