Speed Champions to race into 2015
Posted by Huw,
Brickshop.nl has once again revealed information about unreleased sets, probably before it should: this time it's details and logo of a new theme for next year: Speed Champions.
The theme, consisting of seven sets which include Ferrari, McLaren and Porsche licensed models, appears to be a replacement for the old Racers theme. The sets will cost between €15 and €99 (£10 and £60) so presumably some are small-scale minifigure-sized sets and others are larger, more detailed models.

Please let it be a detailed Porsche 911! Coming from Stuttgart that would make me very happy. (I case you don't know, both Porsche and Mercedes are from here).
How does this fit with the rumoured TOP GEAR line? Sounds more plausible, especially considering TOP GEAR's recent and frequent controversies.
Sounds good, but will depend on how detailed the builds are.
Ooh! Licensed cars - consider me interested! But please, please, please - printed parts not stickers?
@Andhe - I remember that survey that was posted (last year?) about Top Gear, and it seems that several of the concepts are becoming real, (virtual or augmented reality apps with sets, licensed vehicles) but not the brand. I would have loved to have seen TG sets, but I could never quite see how it would have worked out.
Cars - no thanks unless they release a new colour or interesting parts for MOCcing.
Regarding "75912 Porsche 911 GT Ziellinie", "Ziellinie" is German for "finishing line". It's not part of the car name. Should probably be translated.
Looks interesting, but need to see the final product -
Could money be better spent on a TLV-Neo or a Minichamps/AutoArt at 1/43?
Oooh, if the McLaren P1 is a large set, I may be interested...
^^^ Thanks, corrected.
Well, if this is supposed to replace Racers, they're a little late on the uptake... The Cars 2 sets basically killed the theme, because the only sets they've made since 2011 are a handful of gimmicky trucks and the Shell promos. But I'm excited by the sound of this... are these going to be Creator-scale, Technic, or minifig-scale? $13 for a Ferrari seems odd, because microscale is out (40ish pieces) and they've already done a MF-scaled Formula One in a City set... Bring on the pictures, please!
I believe 75910 should be the 918 spyder instead of 18 spyder.
I hope that these are minifigure scaled because I created a LEGO version of me and it would be nice to get a cool car for him.
I think that everyone just assumed that these sets were going to be Top Gear, only because Jeremy mentioned Lego on the show. Just goes to show you can't always believe the rumors.
Le see if Darth Vader can get a cool car.
^HotWheels already built the Darth Mobile earlier this year. They're releasing several Star Wars themed cars this year.
These sound pretty cool. Racing sets always have cool SPACE parts in them.
^Good to know about the parts, but I am referring to Darth Vader having his own Ferrari and dring around until those pesky Rebellion teenagers stole his ride (that will explain why he is always looking at their hagars in case his car turns up).
@PicnicBasketSam: I'm thinking about 140-170 pieces (like the smallish green/white Creator car from 2009, set 6743)
Yes! Mclaren P1! Can't wait to see pictures!
Hope there will be a LaFerrari sometime!
If the P1 is a large set, I shall buy it.
If it's orange, I'll buy two!
Finally I can have my super cars back!I hope this will be a long-running theme rather than something temperary like most of the new themes.
Looking forward to the new Ferrari truck. I have the previous 2. Any Creator type sets would be a must buy for me as well. Dare I hope the McLaren/Mercedes set is another F1 set that is not Ferrari for a change?
CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS THESE!!!!!!!!
sorry everyone, but I've seen the leaked images already. This theme is nothing but a pure disappointment, selling ridiculously overpriced and beefed up versions of 60053-1 Race Car.
This was a huge letdown to someone expecting Highway Speedster or Roaring Power sized supercars
we'll all be better off building our own versions.
