UCS Death Star available now!
Posted by Huw,
The most expensive set ever released, 75419 Death Star, is now available at LEGO.com.
If you're planning on buying the 9,023-piece behemoth, you'll want to do so this week because the companion set, 40771 TIE Fighter with Imperial Hangar Rack, is the gift with purchase until the 7th of the month, but only while stocks last!
Additionally, the spooky 40772 Celebration Series: Luminous Ghost is also a GWP until the 7th, free with all purchases over AU$195 / US$120 / £110 / €120.

I hope someone from Lego can tell us a year from now how well the Death Star sold in the first days/weeks, but I think they will be ashamed to tell us.
Its nice starting off the week knowing you'll save $1500
Idk why its saying I'm from america lol
In this economy?

You can look how fast the GWP runs out.
Yes we don't know the numbers of those either but I does give an idea
No thanks
We got a lot thinner for sure! Han Solo was right

If it sells poorly and eventually goes on sale for 30% off (like Hulkbuster & Foosball table) I might consider it...but it's definitely not a day one purchase for me. After taxes its almost $1500 CAD at regular price
This is such a boring set, already given too much attention. Everytime I see something about it I wanna yell BORING like Homer
Only $1337 over here, great!

How is this the first time I'm hearing this joke? I'm surprised no one made this reference when the Death Slice was first revealed, and I'm a little jealous I didn't come up with it first! ;)

They never release sales figures for sets anyway, so not doing so doesn't mean it is out of shame. Remember this set is not for regular consumers so sales will of course be lower than for a $50 set. But this will generate a lot of buzz, visits to stores to see it, and sales of other sets.
This is a hot take but if I had $1000 to spend I actually would buy this
LMAO there's also a limited-editio poster, only 5000 copies and also 5000 insiders points %%$$%@!*&
Looks like I'll probably be buying this tonight.
Only six-and-a-half hours before it becomes available where I'm from. Can't wait (and I'm not the only one, but perhaps the only one who wants to admit it)!!!
And they can keep it, I'm saving for Barad-Dur, the Titanic, the Eiffel Tower... or rather for a house big enough for them
I suspect it may do better than many think it will.
Never have I been more thankful to Lego for releasing such a substandard GWP. Absolutely zero reason not to wait for a substantial discount.
Wake me up when it is 50% off. Not saying the set is bad and I do not like it, I do, but the price is just extreme, no matter if I have the money or not, this would be purely impulsive purchase with zero rationality.
to be honest; I have plenty of extra cash but i would never buy this type of set (or priced item) at full RRP knowing that if I wait there will be a 30% discount (and if it stays at full rrp for its entire shelf life, i will just pass)
Very excited for this one, first set I've been hype enough to door bust my local store instead of just grabbing online in a couple years
This set does have one thing going for it: It shows up in Rebuild the Galaxy: Pieces of the Past. And I don't just mean that the show has scenes set aboard the Death Star, I mean that there are shots where this set is used to represent the Death Star as a whole, and shots that are recognizably in rooms from this set. Speaking of RtG: PotP, any chance we'll be getting a review of 75414?
I like this so much I'm going to admire it through plexiglass in the Lego store over and over again lol
Then buy the Minifigs from it a year from now on Brickowl.
See you at at least 30% off!

You’re not the only one! 12 hours before I get to buy this. I can’t wait! Yes it is expensive. But I am super excited for this amazing set and thrilled/shocked that my wife actually approved.
Hmm....Death Slarce...or multiple high dollar sets on my wanted list.....or almost the entire BLDP Series 6 next week....or a portion of 1 ticket to see Taylor Swift...or 30 sets of Terrance and Phillip dolls...or I guess I could put something away to further educate my boatload of children...

Personally I'm looking forward to seeing the retirement date, if it retires in two years or less we'll know it did pretty poorly overall.
I guess if you’re picking this up down under, you’re gonna have to cut back on vegemite and fairy bread considerably.
Whoa, I hadn't seen all of these negative comments anywhere until now. It's just mostly been similar negative comments everywhere else.
That's no moon.
It's a pie chart.

This isn't a hot take, but I do have $1000 and I definitely am not LOL.
I can't stop thinking about Private Hudson's quote from Aliens....
"Yeah right, man, Bishop [Australia] should go. Good idea!"
What I’m doing is using all the pics of this set as reference to mod my 10188.
Smooth tiled floors, dark gray walkways/paths, greeble the exterior, etc.

Yup.
I think this may be the first time there's a simultaneous seasonal GWP for the launch of a large UCS SW with it's own dedicated GWP.
Yet, that cute lil' ghost isn't enough to change my opinion about his turd-brother tie fighter.
I would rather not own an x-mansion than own a let-down of an x-mansion.
I’m surprised that people still want it at 30% off. Which means there are signs of healthy interest past the initial price, which at 30% off is no doubt still wonderfully profitable.
Those who budget for those personal, specific, favoured sets that are worth their money at any discount or even none, know that this stuff is cyclical. But… perhaps those 30% discounters know that Lego will never offer high quality output and value ever again, so perhaps they’re desperately scraping the barrel ?!
There will be another death star one day… or just the other half of it.
Now to see how much money Lego can squeeze out of this beast... Most likely too much, which means they'll make more $1000 monstrosities. Sigh.
What would be interesting is to see how badly some of the scalpers get burned on this one.

I think you are going to have a very long sleep.
Antipodeans get to buy this first. They also get to display it upside down with the emperor’s throne room at the bottom and the trash compactor at the top without feeling silly.
I remember when the UCS Falcon dropped there was a strict 1 per household limit due to demand. They are allowing people to purchase 5 haha

This doesn't need to sell well. I'm sure it's bringing enough attention (and therefore, new customers) to Lego that it could even lose money and still be worth releasing.

It's actually come in a lot cheaper than expected for us, compared to other equivalent US pricing. Still way more than I can justify but I'd pick it up if I could.

5 slices and still no sphere.
I bought the Millenium Falcon 75192 on day 1, but there is no way I am paying 1000 Euros (or any amount) for this ridiculous slice of Death Star... I am keeping my 75159 without hesitation.

This is fairly standard now.
I'm doing exactly the opposite - I'm going to SELL a couple of my Star Wars sets that I have never gotten around to building. Some of them have appreciated in value quite incredibly, like 75158 for example, where MISB ones regularly sell on Bricklink for 450 Euro and up.
Maybe mine will sell like hotcakes when I offer it for 400 Euro ;-)
I can’t wait for the Star Trek Borg Cube slice…

Pretty much any pre 2020 Star Wars set is selling well, especially if they are pre LEGO Movie era. I sold a 2012 Endor battle pack that cost me £4 on clearance for £42 a couple of months ago. Even used stuff. I sold a used Krennic's Shuttle without any minifigures for more than I paid for it new. I look at SW sets now and I don't think I'd invest in them for resale (too many resellers, buy in prices too high) or for personal use (I have enough similar SW sets bought at better prices).

Nice, hope you enjoy all the builds!
Got one at 01h00 this night, don't know why it didn't came online straight at 00h00.
I heard they already sold roughly 1000 by 06h00 this morning for UK/BE/NL alone.
For me the only real valid criticism is stickers and missing out on dual molded legs. Don't mistake your preference for a sphere as something universal amongst LSW fans. A lot of people really prefer this diorama style set. I hope they continue expanding their portfolio of diorama's and buildings within LSW.
This set is such a scam. You don't even get a conplete set if you buy it a week after launch!
People can buy what they like, but LOLing at anyone who bought this today
I hope you enjoy your amazing GWSBPOTP (gift which should be part of the purchase). I mean, I cant believe this is even still in stock, LOL.
Not that I have any intention of trying to buy it, but I'm tempted to see what the TIE Fighter is going for on Bricklink a little while after it's availability window closes.

Whatever you choose, you can still give your children a lesson about budgeting.
As I said before, this set exemplifies the worst of Lego SW. It shows just how strictly they adhere to their budgets while expecting their fans to blow through theirs.

Sorry, have I neglected to mention how gloriously bright the sun is? How incandescently blue the sky is? How the mountains reverberate with music? How the grass, when you really stare at it, is fifty shades of vibrant green?
Oh, I'm sorry again. I just sent my precious off to (girls-wear-zero-clothing) university.

Any tears I have left, I'm saving strictly in reserve for our prodigiously potent @yellowcastle . He's got a long row to hoe.
I was at the Lego Store 10 minutes after opening and I was the third to buy it. In the flesh the set looked much more appealing than on the photos. Appearantly the personal were instructed to ‘sell’ the model, always having someone present to explain the set’s features.

"These aren't the deals you're looking for." Especially a poster... be still my heart. Not to mention that discount amount equals out to having spent $8000 on other lego (4000 still if all double points). In most places the 25 RakutenBucks will cover nothing besides 1/3 of the sales tax. People are taking crazy pills.
Limit 5 in the US
Is that how many you need to make it a sphere
Lego is delusional
I am very fortunate to own the 2008 Death Star and I have no intentions of ever purchasing this set.
I love this set, and I absolutely want it, which does surprise me as I had no intention of getting it, as I'm not a fan of the previous renditions of UCS Death Stars. However, the GWP is so disappointing, there is no reason to get it today.
I, too am really interested about the price of the TIE fighter on ebay. i can't believe people who DO own the Death Star would want it, let alone people who DON'T. But then there will be so few for sale, who knows what the going price will be.
I imagine five years ago this would have been designed to be $600 to $750 and I would have considered buying it. I've already passed buying about 5 large sets that I would have bought in the past. It just keeps getting easier and easier to not buy these large overpriced sets.

Best you can likely do is a double Insiders points week.
No way I would spend $1,000 on this underwhelming set. I'm probably in the minority here, but I'm still happy with my 10188 and I still have it on display since ~2009. Really do want the Galen Erso and Imperial Dignitary minifigs, but not going to pay the aftermarket prices for them.

I guarantee you that there are people who aren't interested in it as a set, but would consider their Death Star incomplete without it. But, I'm also curious as to what the going price on the secondary maket will be.
Last Thursday I was told that I have been let go from my company after 24 years and 8 months of service. About the only silver lining that I have found to that news so far, is that the current uncertain state of my employment status is prompting me to pass on this. I think if I was still employed, I might have found $1k on a credit card somewhere to squeeze this (and then been angry at myself for doing so).

Great way to cash in those insider points! I can never hang on to them that long.
yawn.....
Assuming this set is not a Lego exclusive in Canada and assuming it potentially get sold in Costco Canada, the best we can probably hope for here, is maybe CAD$1000 (if we're lucky). Then add the taxes.
While I like this set despite its perceived flaws, I have many more sets to get before this one. So I guess I'll just have to have a peek at it when I pass in front of a Lego store. Very happy for those who will get it thought. So far 73 Bricksetters have indicated they own this. I think it will do just fine!
Through 7 bags. Early thoughts: cool set. Huge. Worth spending most of my rewards points. Gonna have to rethink where I’m putting it to be more prominent

Times change. I remember when Helm's Deep came out at £100. I got it at 30% off (I bought two). £100 for a LEGO set, that seemed crazy at the time. Then came the £170 Orthanc. With the UCS Falcon, they had a policy that there needed to be someone home to receive/sign for it due to the high cost. Is that still a thing for sets like this??
I was in the Düsseldorf Store today late in the afternoon filling some PaB boxes at the wall for over 3 hours and not a single soul bought a Deathstar. There were still at least 30 GWP's left.
Then a guy comes to the cashiers and buys 2-3 Christmas train sets and brags about how his company manufactured/colored the SLS trains for TLG, how the parts are colored with dyes and that more 3D parts like that will come in future sets. Said it took 2 years of development to make it series production ready. Some people obviously don't know what an NDA is...

Yes sir. Mind you this is Canadian Dollars (x5 multiplyer). The poster is worth $50 CAD in points. I only use them for these rare occasions when not getting sets at dbl or triple points. Can't speak for anyone else but it works well for me.
Add to that the taxes saved on the Insiders Discount, the fact you get another 5% in points on the current set and the Rakuten % is over the original 1299CAD amount and not the price after discount.
It is a glorious sunny day here on Alderaan...oh wait...too soon? ;)

Well probably the same all over the insiders scoop them all up before they release to everyone else
Bought it this morning online and I already received tracking info for it, though UPS doesn't have the packages in its possession yet.
While I will admit the set has its flaws, like the huge sticker sheet. I thought it didn't look that bad, as it recreates scenes from the movies and would look great next to my 40591 and 10143 sets.
Plus i've always associated the price with the piece count. With this having 9023 pieces, I knew it would be more expensive than the UCS Falcon.
I did have about 31,000 points saved up, so I did get $240 off of it as well.

Yes, there were expensive sets in the deeper past. Train sets with electronic parts and lots of track were expensive too.
My point was that 10-15 years ago, £100 felt like a lot to spend on a LEGO set but it typically got you the flagship set. Whereas now, with the rise in popularity within adults and not just old school AFOLs, £100 is fairly standard for an entry level adult set.

Yeah, anyone saying "I'm gonna get this on discount!" is DREAMING. They are never putting this on any kind of sale, even when it nears retirement date which will likely be many, many years in the future.
Best you can likely do is a double Insiders points week."
here MOST of the UCS sets are on discount after some time, for example:
75192 ucs milennium falcon rrp 850, now for 635 and cheapest ever 560
75355 x wing rrp 240, now 200, cheapest ever 160
75367 venator rrp 650, now 550, cheapest ever 365
"
Yes, discounts are possible especially when other retailers stock the set. But 50% is very unlikely.

Bought mine this morning too. It wont ship till the 4th of this month
Well!!!! I bought mine this morning and got the freebees. So people are buying it cause there out of freebees already.
I won’t buy it, because i’m more on the « sphere team », but after seeing the model in a Lego Store today, i reckon, it’s much more impressive than the just looking at the pictures…

Mine shows its expected delivery is tomorrow. I always have my orders shipped to where I work, as I don't like to have the packages sit out in front of my home for the majority of the day until I get home from work. Plus since were are a shipping warehouse, the UPS driver is there twice a day and is also a big Lego fan, so he always geeks out when I get a box and wants to see what I got.
Good grief - the price of copies of 40771 on fleabay. All but two copies have a price over £150. And the set has only about 230 pieces. The greed of resellers is unbelievable.
Why didn't Lego make 40771 more widely available? If you didn't buy this 9,000 piece monster on the first day then you miss out on 40771 - unless you pay a greedy reseller. This 'gift with purchase' is a perfect example of one of the worst aspects of this hobby.
This set is a wonderful way of telling someone just how much you value their contempt.
Kindly don't get me this set. Nothing I've ever done warrants this.

They are selling for £90-110 on ebay. So £150 is not totally out of line and could well sell if all the cheaper ones sell out and are not replenished. You call it greed, whereas others see it as a 10-15% discount opportunity when buying on day 1. Nobody is forced to buy it. If someone wants the GWP, they can get it free with the set like the people selling the GWP.
Ordered the set last night, all of the GWPs were available (in Europe) so not sure why European readers are saying those gifts are OOS.

In addition to what @CCC said, 40771 is made entirely out of pieces available elsewhere. Granted, the minifigure heads are only otherwise found in 75419, but they're covered by helmets anyway, so if replacing those and not having the physical box and instructions doesn't bother you, you can get your hands on the TIE for much cheaper, just hit up Bricklink and/or PaB for parts.

I have no idea why anyone is paying for those gwps in ebay other than some resellers. If people can afford to drop 200 on a 4+ set right now, they can afford to get the $1k death star. The death star hasn't been backordered in ANY market. Nor has the tie gwp sold out.
Economic conditions are not going to get better. If people cant afford the 1k death star now, they wont be able to afford it later. Lego wont stop spamming expensive sets. And the january 2026 waves look more overpriced than the august 2025 waves
It is over 48 hours and it doesn't seem them death star is backordered in any market. Nor has the tie fighter gwp sold out. Wont be shocked if the gwp lasts as long as the shire one. Where it was basically in stock for whole period. And they even rewaved it. I imagine they might rerelease 40771. I expect sales to significantly crash when 40771 is no longer being offered and lego pokemon is about to hit shelves. You would expect a large star wars set like this to disappear fast along with the gwp. Sail barge barely lasted 24 hours. But based on the comments I am reading, I think a lot collectors called it quits after absurd price increases. Retired sets not really skyrocketing in value. Even ucs sets are listed close to retail used and no one is buying.
Congrats to the people who are buying this now or going to buy this later on. For me however, this set is (possibly) the beginning of the end of my Lego hobby. I’ve been a fan all my life. Was in my dark ages from 1999 until 2007. It’s actually the original UCS Millenium Falcon that pulled me back into Lego. I have every SW UCS set until 2025. All proudly displayed in my attic. But my feeling towards this hobby had been souring for some time. There are so many expensive sets coming out, it’s hard to keep up. It used to be one €400+ set every few years, now it’s at least one per year. This €1000 price tag leaves a very bad taste in my mouth… and I think this is the final drop for me. I mean, what’s next? €1500? €2000? It just doesn’t excite me like it used to, not to mention that Disney killed SW altogether… and the rehashing of sets doesn’t help either. I have 3 UCS X-wings for crying out loud. Where is the creativity? Question is, do I keep my collection? Or sell it all? Or is this just temporary and will I change my mind on all this? I just don’t know,… what I do know is I got a lot more excited with every release 10 years ago then I do now… I’ll have to wait and see…
The UCS AT-AT struggled to sell due to the price and I think the GWP lasted a time. Not surprised that the Sail Barge sold a quicker as it was a lot cheaper.
This set was always going to struggle, I have begrudgingly bought it, not particularly excited though.

One reason 75222 had such poor sales and got discontinued so quick was for most part from 2018 to 2019, everyone was after the ucs falcon. 75222 skyrocketed when covid brought in a lot of new fans. I dont see another event saving this set. Especially since young people are into anime like demon slayer. Lego likely jacked up print runs after the sail barge selling so fast. Just like they jacked up print runs of the shire gwp after barad dur fell beast sold in an hour. Lego probably knows resellers target star wars the first. Especially ucs sets with timed gwp. Explains why we had a queue at midnight but it disappeared fast. And anyone who wants it and saved for it can get it.
This death star after September had a $500 set every week. I think a lot of lot of collectors got burnt out from star wars and just want out. It is only to get worse with rumored super star destroyer. And january 2026 wave looking to be priced worse than the august 2025 wave. Like only way people will splurge on this if they budgeted months to a year in advance, and are able to neglect other sets. So sales are good for first day as the completionists get their copies, then slowly drip and crash once the gwp promo ends. Speaking of the lego at at, I have seen a lot more used at-ats and star destroyer go on aftermarket for roughly retail.

I was like this very close to buying a used ucs star destroyer, ucs venator, the ninjago city modular, some random marvel sets. Then I finally realized it is impossible to collect everything. Now I couldn't be happier I skipped a bunch. People are going to have curate their collections to either specific themes, sub themes, or they will run out of space, money, goodwill with parents, roommates, spouse. Basically planning well ahead of time on their purchase schedule.
I honestly blame lans for creating a culture of you got to collect them all. Most lan collections look exactly the same. Having sets from themes they know nothing about. This leads people to recklessly spending money on a lot of shovel ware sets. The marvel sets are perfect examples
I much rather cut of lego social media from my phone. And just focus on star wars since my main interest.
Reviews are coming in at Lego site. Time to get the popcorn…
