Friends Advent Calendar - Day 24
Posted by MeganL,We've made it! Christmas Eve! It's been an interesting ride with this calendar. Friends advent calendars haven't always been known to go out on a great note. As a result, I'm opening the last door of the calendar with a little bit of trepidation.
I'll also share my thoughts on the overall calendar, as well as how everything looks on the placemat.
This is a fine way to finish the calendar! The reindeer plushie is adorable, and contrary to Churro earlier in the calendar, actually comes with a build! The sleigh is quite cute, and is even outfitted for a minidoll (though only one, so the Friends will have to fight as to who rides it, likely another entry for another time).
The red and pink colour scheme persists with a lavender top. I'll take it as a nice finishing touch.
For those who are curious how this looks on the play mat, here's my take:
And of course, you know the sloths have been partying the whole time behind the scenes. They think it's not a coincidence that there are five beds in this calendar - same as the number of colours that they come in!
(Note: sleepover crashing sloths not included in this set.)
Overall thoughts
This advent calendar definitely had high points and low points. I love that there are five minidolls included in the calendar - that might be the most! (I still wonder why we haven't seen poor Zac in a calendar, though....). The festive pyjamas that the Friends were wearing were definitely some of my favourite parts of the calendar, with my favourite being Nova's on Day 18.
All five Friends brought their pets to the party as well, though I was disappointed to see that none of them came with any festive printing or accessories like they did two years ago. I don't think there could be too many smiling Churros! Speaking of Churro, a low point in calendar was on Day 13 when he was the only piece found behind the door.
Other than the Friends and their lovely nightclothes, there were a few nice builds. In particular, the writing table on Day 9, today's reindeer plushie, and easel with painting on Day 7 were my favourites. I enjoyed the hobby horses in Day 16, just because they were different.
I think this was a pretty solid advent calendar, though I still would have liked to have seen some more festive builds.
Thanks for joining me for my tenth (tenth!?) Friends advent calendar, and I'm happy the Friends have staved off the bird-who-shall-not-be-named for another year. I hope all of you find presents that rattle under the tree tomorrow (it sounds like there is one waiting for me!). Until next year...
Merry Christmas!

My favourites were Popcorn and his realm on day 6, the Christmas tree painting on day 7, and Nova with her sleeping bag on day 18.
That looks like a Christmas Pudding beast. There's a lot of food-themed animals in this one.

Hush children, off to bed and switch the lights off. Or else you might hear the pitter-patter of murderous webbed talons...
(gosh I love these calendars. We always have such fun. Merry Christmas all!)
Megan, look at how the side-builds are perfectly lined up to form five severed toes. I know I've brought that up before, but it does suggest that He-Who-Flips-Dreadfully is still around. Is it BETTER that he does his dark works unseen, in the shadows or just plain hidden from mortal eyes? Is it BETTER to know that he can still act, and sever toes, whether we can perceive him or not? If a giant gets their toes cut off and there is no one seen to do the cutting, does this still demand urgent medical attention?
If anything, this removes our agency, and grants only uncertainty. And that will be the TRUE final gift of this Advent Calendar. Merry Christmas, everybody!
Together these things look really quite nice!y!
It would've been fun it the backdrop would resemble the inside of a house, so it wouldn't look as if these friends are hibernating in the snow.
Damn, everything looks so small when it’s put together like that. I feel like in the City and Star Wars ones we often get taller pieces of scenery, trees or lampposts and the like, that make everything seem more open. Here everything’s so flat and low to the ground, even things like the painting and karaoke machine. I mean, I guess it makes sense since this is a sleepover in a room (a very very big room…) but I expected to be less underwhelmed by the grand set up
Oh, look, a rotundeer.
I like the final scene. The matching furniture does a lot for the sense of scale and cohesion. But everything looks so dimunitive

Also known as a cariblob.
Thank you so much, Megan, for leading us through the calendars! I have also noticed how underrepresented Zac is in sets; I’m trying to design an advent calendar to feature him.
Merry Christmas Megan, et al!
Last year’s Friends AC was the best one from the theme, imo, so it was gonna be hard to beat that one. Does this one succeed in doing that for me? No, it doesn’t, but it gets close!
This calendar was really solid, and I liked the overall theme it had. The pajama prints on the minidolls were cute, and there were some great animals included.
Merry Christmas, @MeganL !
What a great plush.
Thanks @MeganL for your reviews! See you next year, merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas to all, and, MeganL, thank you for the fun ride through the days!
Finally sloths!
Thanks for the reviews and Merry Christmas to everyone!
Thanks so much for your wonderful entries everyday @MeganL. This was my very first Friends Advent Calendar (I have been getting more and more into the whole Friends theme this past year) and I think it was definitely one of the best ones this year. Great mini doll selections (and their pets :) ) and I like how overall the theme of the slumber party was present in all the items. Have a very Merry Christmas!
Merry Slothmas, everybody!
