City Advent Calendar - Day 17

Posted by ,

I usually open the LEGO Advent Calendars each day, but I have been in Billund this week, which means I had to open today's door in advance.

Knowing what is coming today, this is one of the best items in any of this year's calendars!

We have already received two costumed minifigures in this Advent Calendar, re-using existing parts. However, this Christmas tree costume is brand new and looks excellent. This is a clever idea for a costume and its execution is superb, with moulded texture on the front and back and printed baubles. Maybe a stud could have been included on top though, ready to attach a tree topper.

It is a shame there is no decoration on the back, but I suppose that might be the case on a real costume. The torso underneath is plain too, which is fine, while the double-sided head conveys plenty of personality. This head has appeared many times before, although typically in relatively expensive sets, so its availability here is welcome.

The minifigure comes with a simple present, using a golden flower for the bow on top, which is effective.

Overall - This is a fantastic costumed minifigure and a highlight of the Advent Calendar!

That makes me laugh!

Much better than the Disney tree.

By in Netherlands,

I'm not a fan of the costume-characters, but come on. This is pretty good.

This is one of the best minifigs ever included in an advent calendar.

Well, now you know what we'll get in the unlicensed CMF-series 2027.

If I'd gotten the City calendar this year, this figure would have been a major reason why. New prints are old hat in ACs, but new molds? That's much rarer.

And this is part of the reason I chased down two copies after everyone had pretty much sold out of them.

Love this fig! Definitely looks like a CMF figure. Best item in the City AC thus far, imo.

You just ASSUME a tree is male or female? Have the decency and ASK for their pronouns!

By in United Kingdom,

what's particularly good are the arm slots so the Minifig can actually hold stuff.

Along with the bear in day one I'm getting Midsommar vibes. Which I'm here for...

A yeti-rocket minifig?

For some reason, I see the tree, but I also see a fur-covered spaceship...

Most plants are hermaphrodites.

Well, some might prefer to go by "hismaphrodite", and where's the harm in that?

I'm glad that they didn't put a stud on the top, and also that the back is not printed. This means that you can turn them around and use them for real trees when doing some forced perspective builds.

Yeah, exactly! Most humans identify as male or female, but you still have to ask...

By in Denmark,

I’m not quite satisfied with the fit of the costume. The lower part of the face opening sits a smidgeon too high and cuts of the bottom “lip” of the minifigure. It makes the singing side of the face look shocked and I can’t stop thinking how uncomfortable it must be x-(

Well, but they’re trees, so even if you ask, they probably wooden respond.

Interesting that it has a 2024 copyright on it.

By in Puerto Rico,

Great, the robot was a 10 but this is a 9 due to the lack of back printing.

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

And this is also the excellent reason there's no other Christmas tree build in the calender

That's nothing unusual. When you develop consumer goods, you want to register brands, logos, designs and the like as soon as ou deem it releasable in the patent office.
Industrial espionage is everwhere and you'd rather want to be safe than sorry.
