Harry Potter Advent Calendar - Day 14

Posted by ,

There are countless magical creatures living in the Wizarding World, which provides plenty of options to include in 76465 LEGO Harry Potter Advent Calendar 2025.

Let's see which of those options arrives today...

Aragog is a good choice to appear, featuring the same printed eyes and blocky head as the other creatures in the Advent Calendar. I will never be a huge fan of this format, but I appreciate their consistency and the black eyes actually suit Aragog rather well. Also, the mix of reddish brown, dark tan and dark brown elements is effective and the rock texture piece placed on the abdomen gives some impression of Aragog's hairy body.

However, you may have noticed that the model only has six legs. I realise this is a distorted rendition of Hagrid's beloved Acromantula by design, but I think including all eight legs was essential, as perhaps the most recognisable feature of any spider, magical or otherwise. At least the legs are articulated.

Overall - Aragog really needs eight legs, but this is not a bad model of the fearsome Acromantula.

On the one hand, it looks quite cute. On the other, that abdomen looks quite strange with the log piece in front of it. At least the eyes work well for Aragog's pupilless simple type eyes

Everything is crabs. Everything is spiders.

This thing is going to go exceptionally well with yesterday's Spiderduck, from the SWAC-calendar.

Interestingly, you can tuck all the legs under and set it on its back, exactly like a dead spider.

At first I thought I am in the Star Wars post and this is a droid. :)

Nope. Could be one of Aragog’s immature offspring, as its fourth pair of legs haven’t, um, descended. Or it could just be a comical interpretation of Aragog herself, like how cartoon people are always short one pair of fingers.

By in United Kingdom,

Get a few of these and scatter them around one of the full sized Aragogs to represent his brood!

And this is what they thought they’d do with this years HPAC. Horrible.

I'm not sure the could have given him eight legs and kept the model simple enough for an Advent Calendar model, though. At least he has more legs than a Visorak or Spider Droid.

I like this build. Too bad no one count-checked the legs.

Lego balalody strikes again!!
