Harry Potter Advent Calendar - Day 23

Posted by ,

We are now in the final three-day group of the Advent Calendar, consisting of a minifigure, a creature and a magical artefact. The second of the group is expected today.

Let's catch our final creature...

Harry Potter's jumper on day one featured an owl, which followed on day two. I thought creatures from those Christmas jumpers might continue to follow the minifigures and that has finally proven to be the case for our final figure. This rendition of a Mandrake is delightful, making perfect use of plant stem elements for its roots and including a frowning expression, appropriately.

Overall - I thought the Monster Book of Monsters showed great improvement in these creature models on day twenty and the Mandrake is superb as well.

The Mandrake is like the chocolate frog: animal, artifact, or is it both?

Oh, better watch out. Only juvenile mandrakes have wails that are weak enough to survive. This one’s grown a full mustache!

Is it even an animal or a plant?

YES!

Looks more like a beard-moustache than a mouth flap. And it looks like it snorted something from another plant from a hidden chamber...

Eh, I dunno, I’m not as sold on this one as the good Cap’n is, think it ranks with Hedwig and the Sorting Hat as fairly low effort. A shame after the more recent ones looked so good

It's a plantimal, just not as colorful as the ones from TLM2.
