Star Wars Advent Calendar - Day 5

Posted by ,

The previous two days have introduced a pair of droids and I am expecting to find another brick-built droid behind door number five. There are plenty of options to choose from.

Let's see which is selected...

None, as we receive a seat for C-3PO instead. This is necessary to recreate the scene of Babu Frik working on C-3PO from The Rise of Skywalker, although as an item by itself, it is decidedly drab. I suppose the colours are appropriate for the workshop on Kijimi in the film, but this is very boring, nonetheless.

Additionally, the chair seems awkwardly high with a minifigure seated and there is nowhere to position Babu Frik directly behind C-3PO, which is a missed opportunity. Maybe the black 1x2 plate on the backrest could have been swapped for a bracket, for example.

Overall - This item serves its purpose well enough, but is fundamentally dull.

Richard Dawson: Okay, Peter. Lois did great. You only need one point to win the $500.00. 20 seconds. Name something you sit in.[previously Lois answered "chair" to this challenge]
Peter: Chair.
Richard: Try again.
Peter: Big chair.
Richard: No, that's the same thing. Try again.
Peter: High chair.
Richard: That's still a chair.
Peter: Chair.
Richard: Say something other than chair.
Peter: What if I can't think anything?
Richard: You can pass.
Peter: How do I pass?
Richard: Just say it.
Peter: Say what?
Richard: Say "pass".
Peter: Chair.

Can we get some coercive color schemes, Star Wars? Thus is rough.

Normally I would complain about this being a boring build, but I actually don't mind it a whole lot. It’s perfectly compatible with two of the included minifigures (Babu and 3PO), and replicates something seen in the movie. Definitely not as good as any of the minifigures so far, but kinda fun nonetheless. I do wish that there was actually a place to attach Babu on the back of it, but it's pretty easy just to place him on the headrest, and he looks cute sitting up there.

Coercive? Did you mean cohesive?

By in Italy,

Meh. Looks like a rusty toilet...

By in Switzerland,

This the worst LEGO STAR WARS Advent Calendar since their Start back in 2011. And yes. I have and build them all.

By in United Kingdom,

So no weapon racks but we do have a Babu rack and a C-3PO rack and that’s just so far

By in United States,

I can't not think of the first time C-3PO sat in a big chair. He's now the vengeful Golden God who smites the Ewoks with his magic in the alternate timeline where the captives weren't freed.

By in Puerto Rico,

This really feels like a set for Episode 9 that LEGO split in the Advent Calendar.

By in Netherlands,

How riveting...

Get it. Because droids!

By in United States,

Yes, I always prefer my chairs to have tripping hazards attached to the front like this. Makes you feel like you won when you manage to land in the seat correctly.

"Fundamentally dull" is an understatement. This is awful.

By in United States,

Since I'm leaving home for Christmas I've shifted my days so I open day 24 on the 15th. This chair, so far, is the high point. Gotta be the worst (and last for me) Star Wars LEGO advent calendar ever. No spoilers, but wait till day 9...and 10....

By in Australia,

What’s a model of The Worst Toilet In Scotland doing in a Star Wars advent calendar?

Gravatar
By in United States,

FUN FACT: this build is actually a toilet, which is a subtle reference to the quality of The Rise Of Skywalker.

Honestly it wouldn’t surprise me looking at the pattern of Lego Star Wars sets in the past 5 years. Remember how last years sw advent calendar had each day represent every year in the history of Lego Star Wars? Well none of the years had builds for sequel builds despite the half decade of prominently sequel sets

Ah… auto correct. Yes, thanks."

The vast majority of my posting here has been done from a laptop, and even when I've posted from my phone, I have autocorrupt turned off.

Day 5: Sorry for being late.

0 points (+ 15 from yesterday = 15): SW - Dentist's chair. At least the only entry today, that doesn't poop.
1 (+ 5 = 6): MC - I like how daft the printed face looks, the rest is pixels.
2 (+ 12 = 14): HP - The Sorting Hat is a fun thing to put onto Harry or Cho's heads. A shame there are no more suitable eye designs available.
3 (+9 = 12): Ct - parts come together well
4 (+ 10 = 14): Fr - Love this one equally to Aliyah from day one, but it couldn't winn against
5 (+ 9 = 14): Dy - I can't resist can you? And now, try to unsee the rest of the B1 holding a tiny raindeer tied to a bar.

Yeah, last year’s calendar ticked me off for that reason.
