Heartlake Lighthouse

©2015 LEGO Group

Images of next year's Friends sets emerged last night after my bedtime.

After their jungle adventure the girls are back in Heartlake City looking after animals, running pizzerias and getting their hair done.

The stand-out set is definitely the lighthouse, although where in the world do they paint their lighthouses white and pink?

The hot air balloon is an interesting concept but the balloon is way too small and thus looks a bit daft, IMO.

It must be just a really faded red. After all no one in their right mind would paint a lighthouse white and pink. ;p

Love the lighthouse! My favourite set is the Creator lighthouse from a couple of years ago and I'm so happy that I get another one! The balloon is also amazing!

That is a gorgeous set, but wouldn't a pink lighthouse be problematic in terms of workplace health and safety? I mean, lighthouses are pretty vital buildings.

Anyway, Lego tends to hit us with AWESOME lighthouses (I still have the Paradisa lighthouse island set, and that was one of my favourite sets as a kid. I wanted that for years. Found it on eBay in my teens), and this one does look brilliant.

Edit -- and I love love love that there's a boy named Noah, and that he has wicked-awesome hair :).

The lighthouse would fit better with the awesome ice cream shop next to it if it was a shade of purple instead of pink. Still love it.

I hope the Friends go somewhere new though in the summer sets.

It's pretty nice to see the inclusion of minifigure hairpieces. Grandma and Wyldstyle's new colors are nice, but it's abit dissapointing that Kai's piece is not a new color after adjustment.

The sets are mostly like the prototype leaks, so no more addons. Emma's house is too similiar with Olivia's to me, though the french casement looks interesting.

As for the light house, the star building of this wave, to be honest, it's nice but I expect it to be unsimiliar with the previous Creator lighthouse. I miss the Paradisa version more.

I like the store design of hair salon, but its color palette seems very familiar.

I'm still not sure about the "animal care subtheme". The cat from the illegal clinic seems to be a new mold.

Wow! I like the looks of the new sets, especially the house design and color. Heartlake City needs more places to sleep, so another house is quite welcome. How about some condos or apartments, too? Purple-ish colors are flat out wonderful, so please keep them coming. GOOOOOO FRIENDS!!! (Keep on beating the &^^$&^% out of most other LEGO themes!)

I do like that lighthouse; a bit similar to the earlier Creator one in its design, but the nod to the Paradisa one - adding an ice-cream parlour - is a charming touch. There are some very nice parts in the Ambulance and the red scooter showing up in the Pizzeria is a great move, since the handlebars are easily swapped out for minifig ones.

The only thing I note about the Hair Salon though is how the sign is made - nice to see the life ring in black (for which you have to go back to 4856 Doc Ock's Hideout) for making proper black toilet seats; just as we now have inverted white domes to complete the look!

I'm surprised they made new ABS pieces for the balloon. I expected plastic sheets from the preliminaries. This wave has a role reversal. First male minidoll to have a rubber hairpiece: Noah
First female minidolls to have ABS hairpieces: Charlotte and Natasha. And I want those two female hairpieces, since they look good in those new colors. I also noticed Aurora (the princess's) hair in Reddish Brown as a wig in the Salon. The scissors sign is very clever. I like the hint of the balloon on the Lighthouse box art. Its basket is way too big for the size of the balloon, though.

Friends is well and truly beating City to a pulp with housing, recreational buildings, shops, services - just about everything except vehicles. Even the hot air balloon is a huge advantage over yet another tow-truck...

@8BrickMario
I don't have a good eye. What are the hairpieces in the salon? One is from Olivia's mother in black, the dark red one is not identifiable. I think that's not from Aurora.

@chrisaw
A new sportcar would be in this wave, and even though the Friends cars are not comparable with those race cars or large vehicles, they could still beat some small City cars.

If you Google on "pink and white lighthouse", you will find several, such as the one in Happisburgh, UK.

^^ One is indeed Olivia's mom's. The other has to be Aurora's. They wouldn't make a new hairpiece for a wig in the salon, and it has the same appearance, a tighter hairstyle that's loosely waved. The out-of-box picture in the video makes it clearer.

I understand your saying, but my eyes still don't work. We shall see it in more official pics. Of course, it'd be nice if those hairpieces are not licesnesd and could be used for more generic characters.

There's none here that I immediately need to buy, and there's not as many great new pieces as I expected. I still think there's a bit of an excess of the "girls" colours - I know you get pink lighthouses but they're very rare and the pink just seems a bit OTT for me (if they had to include pink, why not make the ice cream shop pink? That would've been more normal).

However I really like the hot air balloon - the individual panels will be much more useful than a single balloon mould. I think Emma's house suffers from the excess purple and pink, and it looks a little messy, but I'm not complaining as any new houses are good, plus it has brown Marilyn Monroe hair! I think the hair salon is the best - we already had a Beauty Parlour but this design just looks so much more interesting. I also think the Vet looks great considering its size. And the new bunnies will be very useful, since they don't have "Friends eyes".

Thanks.

I want them to make a fox. Who can we contact at TLG to make requests (not that they'd necessarily listen, but anyway it's worth a try). I see that they've made what looks like a new cat.

The balloon is really cool too. I agree with Huw that it's too small, but I've got some microfigures so could maybe use it for that scale.

I agree with Castleguy121 on the pink overload. I have a daughter, who doesn't play with LEGOs any longer, but regardless she's never, ever liked pink. This notion that it has to be pink for girls is really outdated. When we bought our house one room was already pink and yellow for the "girls room" and I had to paint a light blue over the pink to make it work. It's great that they have some new colors for the Friends sets, but let's tone down the pink.

I have separated all of my Friends bricks out by color, and guess which color has the one of the smallest piles: pink. White and sand/tan are overwhelming the most used colors in the Friends theme. We have all of the except the jungle ones (they should be here today from Shop @Home), and I'm pretty sure that they are not going to overflow the pink pile.

Pink Lighthouses
1. La Rochelle, Bay of Biscay, France
2. The Miah Maull Shoal Light, Delaware Bay, New Jersey
3. Isle La Motte lighthouse, Vermont
4. Heartlake Lighthouse, Heartlake City

My favorite out of all of these sets is the hot air balloon. The balloon has every detail that could be captured in LEGO bricks, but what I really like is the grassy hill with a picnic spot and campfire. Partner this set up with Andrea's Mountain Hut and the camping set from the Brand Stores and you have a nice camping adventure.

I'm really happy to see that Peter finally has a buddy to watch the game with in Luis. Noah is a welcome addition to Heartlake a City too. He'll be my new go-to mini-doll when I'm playing with my children (Sorry, Matthew. It was fun while it lasted.)

@DarthWalle: It's hard to tell in the prelims, but the animal in the Elves bakery seems like it might be a fox. And if it is, I'm sure it won't be too long before a "normal", non-magical version shows up in a Friends set.

Pretty generic Friends stuff. I like the scissors brick and brick-built sign, but the lighthouse's color scheme and overall scaling is blah, and the balloon is way too small, not to mention the plastic panels are going to be very hard to work into anything else. I have to say, that green structure in the balloon set looks to be there just to make up for a tiny balloon.

I have daughters who love dinosaurs, rocket ships, and trucks (and my Lego), but they also are mad for pretty pink princess things as well. They will enjoy these sets. I will personally buy the balloon set, because I think I can use the 'petals' in an Anime style robot.

When will these sets available? By Christmas?

Love the hot air balloon and the lighthouse.

By in United States,

@Aanchir - thank you for your comment! To be honest, I normally get all my Lego news from Brickset (I'm not just saying that @Huw!), but I did a little search on Google and found some watermarked images (please forgive me...) of the bakery 41074 and it looks like it may very well be a fox, or at least something close enough to pass for one. Hope lives!

I prefer this lighthouse. I didn't pick up the other one. My daughter may like it, but I know I will. I also like the hot air balloon. I hope my daughter does too otherwise I won't buy it. Too many other great sets I don't have money for.

Because it's just for girls and therefore has to be pink!
If it wasn't pink, a boy might like it and then what would happen! *eyeroll*
