City Advent Calendar - Day 6

Posted by ,

A second minifigure arrived on day six, so I am expecting some accessories for the character over the next few days, following the pattern from the first five.

Let's open the door and find out...

A toy tractor is not really what I was expecting, but like the bulldozer from day two, the design is effective. I like the red colour scheme, maybe influenced by 60287 Tractor from a few years ago, although the new 60498 Tractor definitely overshadows its predecessor. Regardless, the sizes of the tyres works well too, other than the back tyres being very slim. Black 2x2 round plates could improve their proportions.

Overall - This is another nice minifigure-scale toy, though like the bulldozer, it is small relative to some of those in past calendars.

I don’t actually remember them doing many other microscale tractors before, it’s usually more “exciting” vehicles like helicopters. Nice to see this one’s got the same charm as the rest

Wasn't there a Sandra Bullock movie involving a tractor? Speed 4...?

Also, I assume this is a John Reindeere tractor.

Speed 0.04, maybe.

So, you can build it, but it won't run until it's been digitally verified and signed by an authorized dealer.

The use of tea saucers for the front wheels is quite inspired. The teacup saucer piece in general seems to be going places in general lately, judging from next year's sets using them in trans colors as headlights. Maybe it will become the new roller skate!

Clear has been around for awhile now. It’s the trans-red ones that really got my attention. This year, I made four baby Beholdeserts, in gingerbread, shortbread, peppermint, and spearmint varieties, and the gingerbread one was a bit of a problem at first. I gave it regular eyes, but then decided it would look better with gumdrop eyes. Trans-clear was the only transparent color I could get both 1x1 round tile and teacup saucer in, but then the main eye just vanishes into the face. Except then I pulled up the listing and it turned out the saucer had three new colors added, and one of them was trans-red. So I got a couple, and shifted the eyes one position CCW, so the main eye is now trans-red, and now it looks fantastic. Still have to get some of the light-bley saucers, but I’m not holding my breath on the metallic-silver as they only appear in the 2025 Insider Tour set for now.

It'd be far from the weirdest alt-mode a Transformer's had. I mean, take a look at this: https://tfwiki.net/wiki/File:NikemusPrime.jpg Yes, that's an Optimus Prime that transforms into a Nike sneaker, and yes, that's an official product.

I've got two that transform into WWI-style biplanes.

I have one of those, too. But those are at least still vehicles.
