Two new F1 helmets have been added to LEGO.com today.

Like their Ferrari predecessors, the pair of McLaren drivers' helmets, 43017 Oscar Piastri and 43023 Lando Norris, look absolutely superb and, like on the first two, all decorations (except on the visor) are printed.

They are available now at LEGO.com, priced at £79.99 / $89.99.

By in United States,

I guess it takes the F1 marketing team to push Lego to produce the sort of printing Lego fans really want

By in Netherlands,

Just in case you want to know what you would see if you ate 11505.

By in Ireland,

I guess we will see these helmets at the Monaco GP this weekend since it is McLarens 1000th race?

By in Malta,

prefer leclerc & hamilton's helmets; they're more authentic than these ones

By in United States,

I'm not having fun anymore...help

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I keep wondering how well these are actually selling? They've proven to be total shelf warmers in my area, and compared to the cars, the F1 stuff in general seems to have low ownership/want numbers here on Brickset.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Managed to bag both these yesterday, local Smyths had them out early

By in United States,

I never want to hear LEGO say "We don't have the capacity to print all the parts instead of stickers in sets" ever again. This is just a finger to all the fans who've been begging for prints over the last quarter century (or longer). It's as if LEGO is saying, "Yeah, we lied. We have capacity, we just don't care enough to print everything."

By in United States,

Pretty unusual to have a set be revealed and made immediately available a the same time, no? Any other examples of this?

By in United States,

Wow, LEGO shadow-dropping sets now? I guess they're really hoping that, by not announcing them, these don't do well, so they don't have to produce so many copies. The printing logistics on these sets must be a nightmare. They certainly make me feel like I'm having a nightmare... the heck are the artists at McLaren smoking?

I suspect it's more like, "We're only doing it this time because the licensor demanded it and paid for the added logistical costs." If I were head of LEGO manufacturing, I'd be looking at these sets coming down the pipeline and thinking, "This deal is getting worse all the time!"

Then again, if I were head of LEGO manufacturing, I would still push for more prints in general, because LEGO can absolutely stand to do more (and better quality) printing in other product lines. Also I'd be taking a hard look at the QA process as well....

I can't think of any other examples. We were not even given images before they were made available at LEGO.com, which is unusual.

All rather silly given they've been available in several stores, Selfridges I believe, for weeks...

By in Germany,

I have no idea who these racers are and I don't watch F1 at all but a can't say no to this much neon yellow. *____*

The closest that comes to mind for me are the Star Wars: The Force Awakens sets back in 2015, which were revealed during the day on September 3rd and released at midnight.

By in United States,

I would like to know why the LeClerc and Hamilton minifigs came in fully decorated race suits while all we get for Lando and Oscar and casual Friday minifigs? I guess they really don't want us displaying these figures with our F! Speed Champions.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I can only assume, given the marketing ties to McLaren 1000, that these were supposed to come out for Miami, which would have been McLaren 1000 before the Iran-linked cancellations? That would have made a lot more sense for the minifigs and the helmet design aesthetics, and probably provided a bit more natural time to build up to this, versus delaying it a month and having it drop in a seemingly rushed/unnatural way

The same happened to 10284 Camp Nou – FC Barcelona; it was both revealed and released on the morning of 1 September 2021.

10271 Fiat 500 is another kind of example: it was revealed on 29 February 2020 and released the next day (though it is quite funny that 77942 Fiat 500 had a similar schedule on the same day as the FC Barcelona stadium).

By in United States,

Why are they in casual clothes….

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

So excited for these. Lando helmet is my favourite on the grid so I'll definitely get that. I'll probably get Oscar's one too. His figure is perfect for Australians and New Zealanders to use as sigfigs.

Gravatar
By in United States,

You know, these could have been stickers and no one would have noticed if we place them askew.

Regarding stickers/prints, I guess I'm back on the fence. These are some fantastic slopes that would be more beneficial supporting MOCs without the prints.

I'm steadfastly now on a wiggly fence.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Sometimes I think I’d prefer fewer prints and not paying eighty quid, tbh.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

I saw one today in my local store. I was suprised that they launched it the same day. It is a regular grocery shop

Gravatar
By in United States,

I got Piastri yesterday at my local store. It was an amazing build. This was the first time I was able to get a set before it was revealed by lego.

I hope the race goes well for McLaren. It would be quite embarrassing if it did not. If it does go catastrophically for McLaren I wonder if they will push for an earlier retirement.

As a F1 and motorsports fan, these helmets are not interesting to me at all. Even though McLaren and Lando in particular are among my favorites on the current grid. I can see the appeal of having a real helmet as a display item, but not a fake one. Cars on the other hand, it's just not practical or realistic to collect real ones. So if you like them, collecting models is more natural. And I suspect many people collect the cars, even if they are not fans of Lego in particular.

I have six of the 2025 speed champions F1 cars, that was enough for me. They are surprisingly unique in their builds, which is great, but they are tedious and repetitive because of the number of stickers used and the similarities in their end-results. I'm not against the use of stickers per say, but when building these cars it actually got boring after a while. It wasn't the usual relaxing feeling I get when taking the time to build a set, it took more energy than I got back so to speak. And by now, the 2025 cars are kind of out of fashion already so I won't get the remaining ones. They also take up surprisingly much space if you have all of them, even at that small scale.

If they made historic cars on the other hand, I would be inclined to collect all of them. I have the larger icons F1 cars and hope they continue that line, and I like the inclusion of unique printed driver minifig helmets there.

Motorsports fans come in two camps, I think. Those who like the cars and the racing, and those who like the characters and the drama. Maybe these large-ish helmets are interesting for the latter? The SpeedChampions cars are probably for the former. And maybe, just maybe, the icons line has managed to balance on the edge between them by focusing on special car-driver combinations?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Same exact size and price as the previous 2 helmets but around 90 less parts. I wonder what the changes are. Did they hollow out the interior or replace a bunch of 1x1s with 1x2s? The Hamilton helmet was such an amazing build that I wrote my first review on here ever for it. One of my large printed elements was way off and didn’t align properly with the 2 adjoining parts. I am still waiting for a replacement to be shipped.

By in Netherlands,

These two are perfect for making a nice colorful skate-park i guess.

Were they really only revealed that day? Or were there plenty of leaks beforehand?
Because I made plans to go to Toys R Us at midnight to get Poe's X-wing and the F.O. Snowspeeder (and did so) and I doubt I would have gone without knowing what would be available.
Also, 10298 Vespa 125 wasn't officially announced until release- though we all knew it was coming.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Annoying that you can’t make a full orange version by getting both.

No, the Vespa was revealed the Thursday before launch.

By in New Zealand,

Cool Pokémons!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Those are some nice minifig parts. They look generic enough to be versatile, but still interesting. Good additions to some style/theme groups that I'm pretty sure are kind of lacking.

...In $90 sets. *sigh*

Gravatar
By in France,

The sets were revealed and made available today because that's when the drivers revealed their (identical) helmet they're going to use for the race (and maybe Barcelona as well ?), if you check MCL's twitter, you can see the drivers revealing both the helmets and the sets at the same time.

(also it was supposed to be Miami but shit happened)(nevermind that the sets have been leaked since forever and were even in shops...)

Not gonna lie, I'm still annoyed McLaren decided to go for that half orange helmet (for the 1000th GP), instead of having their regular helmet. What would I give for a full blob helmet, ugh. Also no race suit like the ferrari ones ? I mean, yeah the LN logo and the 1 on the back on Lando's minigure are nice (And Oscar in thongs ???) but the actual race suits would have been nicer ? (Unless they're keeping it for something else.)

I think McLaren missed out big doing it that way (well, technically, Lego would be the one missing out, since it going to sell less than a regular helmet would, but McLaren is being McLaren as usual)(At least Lando has his blobs but Oscar is just one shade of blue and it doesn't look anything like his regular helmet.)

Also, apparently, the yellow on Lando's Helmet could be a new colour ?

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

They look like their the same design as the Lewis and Charles helmets but they have 10% fewer parts.
Same price if course :-(

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I'm a bit surprised how well that Norris helmet works, I kinda expected this design to be a bit troublesome with the gaps and edges, but looking at this I have no issue with that. On the contrary, the Piastri helmet looks a bit more messy to me. Which kinda annoys me since I consider myself more of an Oscar than a Lando fan....

As for the minifigs though.....I don't I would ever have recognized either of them....

Verstappen and Alonso next? And then a bunch of classics please....

Gravatar
By in United States,

oh cool that's an entire theme's worth of printed parts budget for one set

Gravatar
By in Austria,

That doesn't look like Piastri at all. They did the same with Leclerc where they gave him a tan skin tone for no reason. With Norris you can at least kinda see it.

Interestingly, Lego seems to have discarded their "for consistency's sake" argument here, because the Ferrari drivers have their race overalls and the McLaren drivers don't. That's kinda dumb if you want to put these figures into a race MOC with the Speed Champions cars.
