Ahead of tomorrow's New York Toy Fair, LEGO has started releasing images of new sets to various websites. This one of 75917 Raptor Rampage has just been published on Mashable along with a close-up of one of the raptors which you can see after the break.

I suspect more will turn up on other 'mainstream' websites later today; let us know if you find any.

Impressed? Probably not so much when you learn that it will cost £50 in the UK, which I'm guessing, will translate to $50 in the USA if the precedent set by other sets with a 'Hollywood tax' on them is anything to go by.

By in United States,

I'm scared to ask what the price is. I'm guessing $40-$50 because it has two dinosaurs.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Great van, but I am really not sure about those Mini-Builds.

Dinosaurs look good though, the same as the ones in Minifigures Online, I should think.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

^^ Just added that bit to the article...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@ Huw: Yeah, you're correct. :-( Au revior, RR. Unless you have a discount.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

City set with dinosaurs? No, thanks.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

That van looks awful :( It looks like something you'd cobble together using just the contents of a pick-a-brick wall

Gravatar
By in United States,

$50 for this set is just a shame, I can't see it selling well for that price at all. If the other Jurassic sets turn out to have such a high license tax on them (if that is in fact what causes that price), then I presume this theme will die out pretty quick.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Why is Star Lord in this set? ;-)

Gravatar
By in United States,

I am ecstatic! It's a pretty good match for the one from the movie: https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2927/14617732213_89ea8e932c.jpg (bottom row, second in from right - google "jurassic world vet vehicle" for more pics)

LEGO Dino was expensive too, I'm just gonna roll with it, because I regret not buying all those Dino sets.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I really like this set but £50 what are lego , looks like a £20 set with 2 dinos added.

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

If the piece count was like 400-450 then maybe....looks to be more like 300. It may be like the exclusive dc sets with the fun house where the price was inflated.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Is this really the only way to get Owen?

Gravatar
By in United States,

I bet we will see these sets sitting in the discount section of Wal-mart later this year. I may pick one up if it is cheap enough, but $49.99 will be a big deterrent for many people when you can get a bigger Lego City set for the same price.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

I'm one of the guys who likes license themes for the realistic vehicles - the details and rare colors you don't find on the City vehicles. Indiana Jones has the best planes, boats and some seriously nice cars. And now this looks just like another police set. A bad coincidence to make something stand out on the shelf, as it is - I assume - this exact color scheme on the movie.

Gravatar
By in United States,

It's license tax AND dinosaurs but still $20 overpriced.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

^ Or ANY 50 £/$/€ set.

Honestly I like the raptors but the truck is horrendous. Too many studs.

Gravatar
By in United States,

These meh license sets always price me away.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Not a particularly great truck and I have to say a poor set overall, with a high price to boot.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

All price-speculation aside, this set doesn't look too bad. The dinosaurs are really well painted. The truck has "Vet Unit" written in small letters along the side, which could mean that one of the two Raptors might fit inside. Other than that, there's a missile launcher and a syringe-gun included. Personally, I would've been happy had this set just included a Raptor and the motorcycle. If I were ten again, I could play for hours with just those two things.

Gravatar
By in United States,

All I see are the two raptors. I will get this most likely since I never got the Dino sets with them and I just LOVE the dark green/sand green one.

Gravatar
By in Hungary,

It is so strange that everyone says "meh", while a person behind a desk wearing a tie said "fantastic!" (since it is released, he/she had to approve it). Why is that person so different from everyone here?

Gravatar
By in United States,

You guys do realize that you could cover up the studs on the truck by placing a flat piece over them?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

^^ I really like it as a set as long as we get buildings too, its just the price. Also we don't know what part the vet van plays in the film.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Also, I like these raptors EXTREMELY more than the 2010 Dino theme. Also, as mentioned above, if the Raptors could fit in the vet van that would be AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gravatar
By in Germany,

I dislike this set not only for it's high price, but for it's overall dullness. Even if the truck may have an exploding actionfeature - it is a boring truck! For gods sake, Lego... I planned on buying all jurassic sets. But now I am more than disappointed. I fear this is going to be a disaster. And not because some dinos go on rampage...

Gravatar
By in United States,

I was going to say that this doesn't look bad. Two cool Raptors, a few good lead characters, and a decent enough van. Really almost don't need any of the other sets... except for the dinos. But at that price... yeah no.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I wonder what those things on the raptor heads are? They appear to be raptor-cameras of some sort, if you don't know what I meant by that I'm referring to how some people will put a camera on a creature like a dog or a bird to see what it's doing and if that's the chase then I love that idea!

Gravatar
By in Puerto Rico,

I will be getting the entire JW collection (depends on the $$$) but c'mon Lego why not $35? The dino and figures look great and the van meh, but the price. Also, I think Lego is just releasing these pictures early because it knows people are going to be on photo offensive here.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I want to stay excited about this theme...but I'm more a buildings person than a vehicle person, so this set doesn't do it for me sadly.

Gravatar
By in United States,

No doubt these will be on perpetual sale on Amazon, just like the other overpriced licensed sets in the past. So everyone complaining about the price...wait a few months, and pick it up at Amazon for $30-40.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I kind of wish they had of made new raptors instead of reusing the old mold. They look okay but they're way too big!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

To quote the Chuckle Brothers, "Oh dear, oh dear."

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Even for a licensed set that's a silly price. The Superheroes sets generally manage to stay reasonably priced.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Super psyched they are using the same dino molds from a few years ago...trained raptors...YES!!!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Yeah, I really don't think it's a licensed tax at all - licensed sets aren't often all that expensive comparatively. It's pretty clearly a Dino Tax. The non-licensed dino theme from a few years back was just as overpriced.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Lego execs must be inhaling ABS plastic smoke fumes or something - pricing is way off. Not sure it's because of the license or whether we're seeing a new trend in LEGO pricing due to their market dominance as the top toy company (greed comes to mind). Unfortunately, this will only serve to alienate many buyers interested in this theme.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Wow, the ambulance is a little boxy but other than that, its EPIC! Love the new detailing on the raptors! $50 seems steep for it though.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

£50?...

*cue laugh track*

Gravatar
By in United States,

That price is awful, and the only thing I like about the set is the female bowl cut in Dark Orange...I will probably pass. I just hope the other sets are worth it, but he Ultra Dino set's bound to be ridiculously expensive with the gimmicky "minifigure sphere vehicles" and the dino itself...

Gravatar
By in United States,

Why is everybody complaining about the price? It's cheaper than buying the discontinued Dino sets... :P

Gravatar
By in United States,

Unimog Ambulance!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Eh, good to know I'm not the only guy who's not impressed. :P Seriously, that looks like a $35-$40 set. Good thing is, I wasn't planning to buy any Jurassic Park sets, but it still is annoying seeing these price hikes. Still, though, is Jurassic Park really that big a property that licensed sets can command such a mark-up? I don't think we've seen sets overpriced this much even in Star Wars and LotR/Hobbit (though, I could be wrong).

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Tbh the only thing I like about this set is the green motorbike

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

Love the dark green raptor and the motorbike but the rest of this is very poor

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Tricky Brick, I too am totally underwhelmed by our first look at a Jurassic World set. The ambulance is just crud. The minifigs and the raptors are really the stars of this set. I guess 24% LEGO profit plus the hollywood tax is really where that $50 price tag came from.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Completely underwhelming.
This set should only be £25.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@StorzN: I'm confused. A second ago you felt the ambulance was "EPIC!". Then you call it "crud." Was that sarcasm or were you simply refeing to the scale of it as epic?

Personally I'm only interested in the dino harnesses and I think they added more painted detail on the dinos themselves. I'm taking a wait and see attitude before passing judgment.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

While you guys all complaining about $50/£50, spare a thought for us Aussies where this set will more likely retail for $69!! Which means I'll be lucky to get it for $50 on a 20% off sale at Target grumble grumble...

Gravatar
By in Russian Federation,

LEGO definetely has a problem with comparing sizes

Gravatar
By in United States,

Cool looking set. But the 2 by 8 plate on the side of the van really looks weird.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I was thinking about buying a Jurassic World set or two, but if all of them are going to be this over priced I don't think I will.
@somnbrik Yeah this set's going to cost $80-$100 here in Australia.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@sharky Yup, you caught on. I love the size, but the design is crud.

Gravatar
By in United States,

^^^^Though with how weak your currency is, it's only 10%-15% more than the US AND UK price.

Gravatar
By in United States,

It's interesting how the price hike could be linked to a "dino tax" even though they are reusing the older molds...shouldn't we get a discount? If they were ALL new molds, the price could be more justified. But even then, it seems too high for what you get. Not seeing the incentive to buy these. Definitely will wait for a sale.

The movie might be interesting, even though it looks exactly the same as any of the other JP movies...Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are fun to watch, but do I need minifigures of them, not necessarily.

I guess I'll wait and see how the sales work.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm just glad it comes with a brick separator.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

£50? Wow. Really? Wow.

Gravatar
By in Japan,

I'm just buying for the raptors, the rest I can use for something else...

Gravatar
By in Singapore,

nice to see the new jurassic set. i don't like any of it though.

the truck is a good likeness to the one in the movie, but the build could have been more aesthetically pleasing at that ridiculous price point. what's with the visibly long, studded piece at the bottom of the truck?

the dinos are fine but maybe they could throw another one in.

Gravatar
By in United States,

This set costs more than a ticket to actually see the movie apparently...

Gravatar
By in United States,

I love it!!!! Can't wait to buy!!! and so cheap too!!! :D

Gravatar
By in United States,

The price complaints seem a little silly and unwarranted to me. The 2012 Dino set Raptor Chase had a similarly sized vehicle, about the same in extra pieces, 1 raptor, and 2 minifigures for $30. This set has an additional raptor, minifigure, and motorcycle for $20 more bucks. Is it overpriced? MAYBE by $5-10 bucks max. Should it be a $30 set though? Hell no. Why would it be priced the same as a non-licensed set when it includes a lot more big chunks of plastic? It IS a licensed set after all.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Like almost everyone on here, this is so overpriced. It's an ok set,but not for the money. I will end up getting this when it's half price in either Tesco or Asda. No way I could justify £50 for that! I think the largest set would probably be worth £50 in reality!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

£50 for a medium sized vehicle, few figures, couple of dinosaurs and other bits?

Seriously Lego that's far too much and even at £25 it would still be a little pricey.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

If this is $50 in the US, I can't imagine the mark-up when it hits Australian shops.

The only tempting part of this set is the Raptors, and I already own a couple of those from the "Dino" line a few years back. I can easily say "pass" to this. Maybe buy the dinosaurs on Bricklink if I'm desperate. Ebay if I'm *really* desperate.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

£20 set yeah, okay, but £50?!?

No, I'll pick it up for £15 when it goes on clearance in 6 months.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I missed out on the dino sets. I really limed them tough.
This is a bit to much lime city for my liking. Not a great match.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

CapnRex01 called this "my favourite of the selection" in the section covering Jurassic World sets in his article on the London Toy Fair Report - Part 2 . That doesn't bode well for what is to come.

Looking at the picture that Sastrei linked to above all the vehicles look fairly dull when compared to the lurid colour schemes of the original film or previous lego Dino sets. Wouldn't be surprised if Mercedes Benz has a licenced vehicle agreement to place their products in the film.
I can't see those raptors fitting in that size vehicle. I'm hoping the equipment on their heads are lasers in the style of Dr Evil's sharks. Every creature deserves a warm meal.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

From the videos, a lot of those other sets are silly prices too :(
