LEGO has unveiled The Simpsons Kwik-E-Mart today. You may have seen images pop up at Yahoo! earlier as it was given a one hour exclusive window ahead of us being allowed to publish them, but somehow it managed to publish them erroneously early this morning. Although the page was quickly removed they could still be found in Google's cache which is why they've been appearing on other fan sites and forums this morning.

Anyway, it's 3pm GMT so we can now publish full details here.

71016 - The Kwik-E-Mart, 2,179 pieces.

US $199.99 - CA $229.99 - DE 199.99€ - UK £169.99 - DK 1699.00 DKK. Available May 2015.

Visit The Kwik-E-Mart—Springfield’s favourite convenience store!

Welcome to The Kwik-E-Mart—your one-stop shop for convenience foods at inconvenient prices! This highly detailed and iconic LEGO version of The Simpsons store is packed with more rich, colorful details than a Mr. Burns birthday cake has candles! Walk under the huge Kwik-E-Mart sign and join Homer, Marge and Bart as they browse the aisles filled with beauty products, diapers, dog food, pastries, fruits, vegetables and more—including Krusty-O’s and Chef Lonelyheart’s Soup for One. Then head over to the refrigerated cases where you’ll find Buzz Cola, chocolate milk, various other drinks and snacks… and frozen Jasper!

There’s also a Buzz Cola soda fountain, juice dispensers, coffee machine, arcade games, ATM and stacks of Powersauce boxes. At the counter, Apu is ready to tempt you with a variety of printed magazines, comic books, cards, tofu hot dogs, freshly expired donuts and his ever-popular hallucination-inducing Squishees. At the back, there’s a storage closet complete with rat and an exit. On the roof you’ll discover Apu’s secret vegetable garden, while outside this amazing model features bright-yellow walls, 2 phone booths, a stack of purple crates, and a dumpster area with ‘El Barto’ graffiti, opening door and an iconic blue dumpster that also opens.

You can also remove the roof and open out the rear walls for easy access. This set also includes Snake (a.k.a. Jailbird), who loves nothing more than stealing cars and robbing the Kwik-E-Mart—but this time Chief Wiggum is hot on his tail in his police car. Capture this bandit and return peace to the town of Springfield and the amazing Kwik-E-Mart. This fantastic set includes 6 minifigures with assorted accessory elements: Homer Simpson, Bart Simpson, Marge Simpson, Apu Nahasapeemapetilon, Chief Wiggum and Snake (a.k.a. Jailbird).

Amazing job

By in United States,

I think the Lego designers did a fantastic job bringing this iconic set into reality... I now must purchase the Simpson's House...

Gravatar
By in United States,

I WANT THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you take the Simpsons out, it would be a great addition to ANY CITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Looks amazing. Now can I have this without the Simpsons branding, non licensed price and normal minifigs please? I really want a huge stand-alone supermarket...

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I've read that this model will already be available for VIP's in April. Can anyone confirm that?

Such a great model!!! Hopefully we'll also get Springfield Elementary & the Nucleair Powerplant.

Gravatar
By in United States,

This set has to set a record for number of decorated elements. There are some great references to the show. Even if you are not a Simpson's fan and just a Townie, a convenience store of this detail is a must have!

Gravatar
By in Hong Kong,

This big yellow cuboid looks like a Lego house from 1979 with a 10x price tag.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

I don't care about the Simpsons. At all.
But the set still looks great, and seems to have a lot of interesting elements.

By in United Kingdom,

Marcos Bessa has done a fantastic job! I really like it it looks better than the Simpsons house but that's because the Simpsons House hasn't got much to it in the actual TV show. The number of Easter eggs for fans is impressive. I really hope they don't have any stickers on the tiles and smaller pieces. At least the police car has a roof this time! I don't like that they have existing character variants that they already released last year. Yeah I hate when LEGO makes a quick budget cut like the Jasper printed or stickered, I would have preferred him as a minifigure instead. The interior detail is just mindblowing, this could be are next Green Grocer! I like the fact that the building has piping details on the walls and roof, that's what is missing from the Modular Buildings.

I hope next year we get the 'The Android's Dungeon & Baseball Card Shop' with loads of comic books and super hero references!

By in Russian Federation,

Now..that's a lot of stickers :)

By in United States,

Beautiful set! I've never watched the Simpsons (well, I've seen short snippets, but never a full episode), but as with the Simpsons House, I'm amazed by this set's level of detail. A convenience store in LEGO City or LEGO Friends would be lucky to get an 8x16 footprint. This set has a 38x28 footprint (not counting the alley or sidewalk), and as a result it is able to pack in all kinds of humorous and distinctive details.

The set really has all the details you might expect to see in a convenience store — well, besides cigarettes and alcohol! But I'm sure customizers will fill in those gaps for the sake of authenticity. If nobody's selling printed Duff beer cans yet, I'm sure they will be soon! The set also maintains the show's colorful cartoon design language, just as the house did. And some of the printed details convey the show's trademark humor even for somebody who's never watched it.

Oh, and I've got nothing against the Simpsons, just so nobody gets the wrong idea. It's just not something I watched growing up and have never really been interested in getting into it. I think it's good to clarify because I know sometimes people turn up their noses at this show and I don't want anybody to think "I've never watched it" is a point of pride for me.

Holy ...
My god is this an impressive set. I think about the only thing missing is a case of Duff, some Skittle Braü and Side Show Bob dressed as Krusty the Clown. Nearly every major (and minor) element a Simpsons fan would was included here. From the food brands, to news papers and comics and even a frozen Jasper and roof top garden it's all here. This makes the Simpsons house look a like an amateur effort. I can't wait to get this.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I really had no desire to get the Simpsons House, but this is impressive. Even to somebody like me who hasn't really been a fan of the show in about a decade, I am seriously considering finding a way to get this.

It even has a pretty generous price-per-part ratio; granted, lots of those pieces are small, but many are also printed...with a large number of stickers as well, no doubt, but that doesn't faze me. The number of details from some of the best episodes (I remember) is staggering. This is possibly one of the best licensed sets LEGO has ever made.

Gravatar
By in Venezuela,

It seems to have a lot of new printed parts, or a lot of stickers

Gravatar
By in Poland,

Everything looks great.
Except the price...

Gravatar
By in Austria,

What I keep asking myself. Is it all printed, including the KWIK and MART or is it all stickers? From the high rez pictures I thought it was printed but I'm not too sure anymore. Would be a shame if there's hundreds of stickers for that price!

Gravatar
By in Canada,

The Sticker of Jasper is already peeling off in the promo pic. :( wish he was a real Fig.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I was curious how they would sidestep the alcoholic beverages issue, and they did, not a bottle in sight...haha! This could be a good source of parts, I need to see the parts list when its available. I got the Simpson's House set and used it for parts. Great source of tan bricks!

> Snake (a.k.a. Jailbird) is exclusive to this set for fall 2015

Does this mean he is exclusive to this set. Or does it mean he is exclusive to this set for now (well, in autumn 2015) but not for after that?

That is, I wonder if he will make an appearance in the CMF series 3.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Not a fan of this set or the Simpsons, but does't this seem a little over priced?. :P

Gravatar
By in United States,

Who needs the Kwik-e-mart? I doooooooo!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Although I'm 99% sure that most of the decorated items are stickers, it's still an amazing level of detail.

@Monkeyflyers, I don't think Jasper is peeling off, I think the decoration is on a half-cylinder inside the cooler. I'm guessing the budget would't allow another unique minifigure, so this is the compromise. I think it's pretty clever and definitely a step above just having the decal stuck to the door.

I also notice that there is some kind of secret compartment under the roof tiles. Someone more familiar with the show may know if that's an homage to a scene from an episode.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Who needs the Kwik-E-Mart?......I do.
even if you take out the simpsons and use regular minifigures it's still the best set ever.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Explain how $199.99 is overpriced for a 2,200 piece set, licensed or not. Great price, great looking model.

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

Ill buy too,but annoying because as usual we are fleeced and America gets it for 199.00 dollars.

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

^ I'd normally agree with you here, but isn't the euro doing really badly against the dollar at the moment, approaching equal parity? I think we're actually lucky to be getting it for €200 :)

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Wow! It looks much better on those pics than the Simpsons House! A much higher detail density. Can't wait to order it :-)

Btw, R.I.P. Sam Simon
(And on a sidenote R.I.P. Terry Pratchett)

Gravatar
By in United States,

This is so great!
Any idea when the Simpsons House will retire?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

All I can say is....£170 worse off....but a Kwik E Mart better off. This will be an instant purchase. What level of detail, loving Jasper in the freezer :D

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm in the super minority but I'm not too impressed... I like how it opens, the mini-builds seem cool but otherwise I'm just not into it especially with the stickers. I'll save the $200 for the next modular.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Great job on the store - I love the significant detail. EPIC fail on the included minifigs. We don't need another Homer, Marge, and Bart. Wiggum makes sense since Snake is included. This was the PERFECT set for the bullies - Jimbo, Kearney and Dolph. That would have put It over the top. That being said, I'll still buy 2 :-)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

170 quid ! Geez !

Gravatar
By in United States,

This looks amazing! Exceeds expectation. I like it a lot more than the house. I agree, they could have had more new characters than just Snake, but at least the mini-figs are more like the collectables aka don't have the weird lowered eyelids that made them look so angry/bored.

Love the addition of Jasper (wish that was a mini-fig. Missed opportunity to add some functionality). But points for including copies of Angry Dad and the Springfield Shopper. When does this come out?

Gravatar
By in United States,

15 April for VIP members. 01 May for everyone else.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The dealbreaker for me will be whether or not any of the decorated bricks are stickers. None of them appear to be (even Frostillicus!), there's usually a telltale border on the bricks that I fortunately don't see.

Stickers - no buy. Printed - buy. Voting with my wallet on this one.

My favorite easter egg is the "You're Ape-eling" card, nice!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I like the myriad of colors and tiny details.

I don't like the 1970-something exterior, those heads, stickers, or the fact that it costs $200. One big fat PASS.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I am not a Simpsons fan and had no interest in the house but this set is tempting on pure LEGO merit alone.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Passed on the Simpsons house ( so far ) but this set makes me want to have both... Stupid brain!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I really really would like to like the Simpsons sets because I grew up with the show; but the prices are just too prohibitive.
I was hoping the Kwik-E mart would be cheaper than the Simpons house but it turns out to be just as expensive.

I agree with some posters above that for something that looks like a box, I'd rather spend the next 200 dollars on a modular.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Oh my god, I want this so much. Move aside, stupid whatever-superhero carrier, you were cool two days ago.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

aaarrrgh...Kwick mart count on me (my poor wallet...sigh...)! Excellent set, the designer needs a big congrat and thank you!

and @jaybee, thanks for mention!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Two words.

Hell, yeah.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Eeeeexxxxxxcccceellent! (Burn's voice) and I'm glad I can pre-order one from ebay for only $275 too! haha.....do people really fall for that?

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I would love to see a City or modular building version of a supermarket with this much detail.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Has anyone else noticed that all of the images are renders, not photos? Is this something that LEGO is doing for all official releases now or just this one? Makes it impossible to tell which decorated parts use stickers...

Gravatar
By in Germany,

@jazlecraz

You sure those are rendered? Looking again and again, i'm not sure. In case, those are good renders :-)
OTOH look at this pic:
http://images.brickset.com/sets/AdditionalImages/71016-1/71016_BackE.jpg
The white sign top left looks like a sticker on a tile. See the slightly different color? Same on the "dry diapers" in front of Marge.

j.

PS
Checked the EXIFs. Only interesting fact is the creation date: 03.11.2014 15:54:33 (11/03/2014) but no traces of a camera or renderer. Was created using Photoshop CS6 on a Mac and was converted from a tiff. Could be anything...

Gravatar
By in Australia,

@Jaybee

They are good quality renders, but there are some things that give them away. Firstly you'll notice that all of the 1x1 pieces are perfectly aligned - way too good for a human builder. The close-ups on some of the smaller pieces also show that they are too perfect - especially the pearl coloured pieces. But the most clear giveaway for me is in the top view with the roof removed, you can see the 1x1 circular tiles on the shelves with cookies, strawberries etc. printed on them and the print on all of them is aligned in EXACLY the same way - no way anyone is that OCD, not even me haha!

The bad feeling I get from this is that most of these parts that look printed are probably going to be stickers.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

@jazlecraz

Guess you are right. Both ways: renders and lots of stickers. Maybe the 1x1 round tiles are printed (never saw a sticker that small). OTOH: since i learned how to apply stickers wet, i'm no longer afraid of them. But especially in expensive UCS sets there should be more printed pieces. But to be honest, we buy them anyways :-)

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Besides a small sticker issue, well done lego, well done.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The set looks terrific, I love all the printed elements and the mini-builds but I'm left wondering why Homer, Marge and Bart look identical to the CMF versions.

Gravatar
By in Switzerland,

what do you think: will the "Lego - The Simpsons" Sets will become an investment performing like the modulars or other big sets, after they haft left the shelves?

Gravatar
By in Germany,

> will the "Lego - The Simpsons" Sets will become an investment

1. I think so – like almost every set with a price >=200
2. I hope so – own two houses and one is still MISB :-)

Is it just me or does the car look too big. It's almost like he could walk right into the car. His neck is even with the hood.

Who needs the Kwik-E Mart? I Doooooooooooooo!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I really want this set. LEGO has done an amazing job with this, and I hope that someone will post a good review, seeing as this is beyond my budget.

And I thought the House was good. Now I think it's stupid compared to this.
