The Force Awakens Images now available at shop.LEGO.com
Posted by Huw,LEGO has just published an electronic edition of the latest paper catalogue at shop.LEGO.com. In it, you will find full details of The Force Awakens sets including images, prices, minifigs and descriptions.
However, the embargo still stands, and remains in force until the 4th of September, so we won't be publishing them here. Instead we will direct you to the LEGO server where you can ogle them to your heart's content.
Someone explained to us why Disney does not want information about TFA merchandise released until the products are actually in the stores: If you know in advance what's going to be available you can evaluate the products beforehand and rationally plan your purchases. If you don't know, you will head to the shop on September 4, see all the shiny new merchandise and fill your shopping cart with stuff you wouldn't have bought otherwise. So, unsurprisingly, it's all about making you spend more on the day...
Update: The catalogue linked to above has now been removed.

Why are they re-releasing the 2008 Death Star...?
And when can we expect to see the LEGO Ideas Doctor Who set?
Ah, Alemas, welcome back :-)
It's never been retired and must soon hold the record for the set that's been in production the longest.
We'll see Ideas Doctor Who once the Dimensions Doctor Who sets have been bought by everyone who wants a LEGO Doctor Who.
About that last paragraph... I'm pretty sure it doesn't work that way in practice for most people, especially those on a budget. :P
Nice to see a catalog that has all the exclusive sets!
Two of the Scooby-Doo sets are missing from this new catalogue, Mystery Plane Adventures & Haunted Lighthouse are they being discontinued already?
Looking forward to getting my hands on these, especially Rey's Speeder. I'll be picking most of these up in late November / early December on sale.
@ElephantDude: LEGO.com catalogs don't show all the available sets, just a few. If they did show them all, the catalog would have about the same thickness as a magazine.
Ah, Huw, I never left, I just didn't bother logging in until now. ;)
Kinda surprising, that. I mean, it has heavily outdated minfigures and box packaging... why do they continue selling it? Do people still buy it in droves or what?
So I guess we won't see Ideas DW before Christmas?
Link is still working ... What is going on in Billund? Their reaction is really slow in that case
That last paragraph is troubling. If Disney do indeed view their customers as little more than sheep to be manipulated at will then I'm not inclined to give them any more of my money. How patronising can they be?
How much is the x-wing in the UK? The link isn't working for me.
Pagani88 I believe it's £70, with 717 pieces.
^ That's actually not bad for a licensed set, but I don't believe that they needed 700 parts to create it. Its the same size as the last one!
^ I agree, I think it's the landing gear (access ladder, ammo crate and weapons platform) that make up the extra pieces.
I would buy the TIE fighter instead; it's £10 cheaper and just seems more Star Wars-esque
I have to see the movie first before knowing whether or not to buy any of these. I hope none have been discontinued before December!
Strange that they included the Death Star in there.
On an unrelated note, did anyone see that the WALL-E set is now $59.99 instead of $49.99?
With this recent development, I think LEGO is actively trying to work around the embargo.
And even Disney can't fight the power of the internet.
EDIT: Wait, Doctor Who isn't even in here? Wha...?
The more I look at these sets, the less I like them :-/ Is it just me, or do most of them seem really uninspiring? The only ones I like (X-wing, TIE fighter & Falcon) are fairly simple rehashes of very recent sets. Coupled with the increasingly high prices ($90 for the transporter??) I think I'll be giving these a miss. The only thing I would be getting them for is the minis, so I'll probably pick those up off fleabay or bricklink
Couldn't resist. Was gonna wait until I'd seen the film but as the new sets are in an official LEGO catalogue it would be rude not to have a peep. Not sure about the 'value' of buying another TIE and Falcon given they don't look much different to the ones I already have but I'll probably buy them - afterall, by the time you've paid the extortionate amounts expected on the secondary market for minifigs you may as well get a box of bricks for your money too ;-)
Most of these are terrible. The command Shuttle, the snowspeeder, the transporter...They're just grey lumps of mass. The re-coloured classic sets aren't bad, but the prices are insane...Is it just me or has the mark-up gotten worse since Disney purchased Star Wars? There's no way that tie fighter should cost $70. The sets that have a good price-to-piece ratio are sets you couldn't charge more for without them ending up on the clearance rack in a month.
The only thing I find appealing is Rey's speeder, but even then, it's just a speeder and two minifigures for $20...It could really use something else to give the set some oomph, at least BB-8 and some little sand structure or something. $20 sets in recent memory that had a lot more bang for their buck were the Wolverine Helicopter, Shelob's Attack, even the police prisoner van, which had less pieces at a higher price, still had more oomph to it.
Looks like this has been taken down. Or I'm inept.
Yes, its gone now.
And these are some truly awful LEGO sets. Although i now see why some people at Bricktastic thought my blacktron x-wing was a Ep.7 version.
The Falcon is the only big draw to me since my most "recent" Falcon is the original model from the first waves! It's due time for an upgrade. The X-Wing could be good (once again I am with the 1999 model): yet I'll have to see the movie for the black to convince me.
Link doesn't work, it doesn't bring me to the right Catalog. :/
I wish they'd do more UCS from the prequels someday.
Well, I personally find these sets to be be some of the best, most original sets in a long time. I can't fathom how some can call these "uninspired" and "grey lumps of mass"- surely that's a flaw in the design of the film counterparts instead of the actual sets?
Rey's Speeder is a great set with a bold colour scheme that gives us one of the films leads for a cheap price - fantastic.
The snow speeder gives us a look at a never-before-seen vehicle with great playability and awesome figures - fantastic.
The TIE retains the classic feel whilst giving us a new take on the iconic ship, and sine I don't own any previous designs the similarity to the previous version isn't an issue - fantastic.
The x-wing is perhaps the weakest link for me simply due to the lack of collectibility but offers some amazing figures and an accurate-to-film design - good.
The transport seems packed with playability and gives us about as much colour as possible for a completely grey film counterpart. The figures are also some of the best in the last 5 years in my opinion - amazing.
The shuttles landing mode is admittedly ugly but the flight mode looks sleek and intimidating, plus it gives us the films lead villain - fantastic.
The falcon is the falcon, no other reason needed - fantastic.
Seriously, where are the issues with these sets?!
Shucks, got here too late... :-/ Oh well. Looks like they accidentally put out the Late Holiday catalouge instead of the summer one... lol.
"If you don't know, you'll head to the shop on September 4th, see all the shiny new merchandise and fill your shopping cart with stuff you wouldn't have bought otherwise. So, unsurprisingly, it's all about making you spend more on the day..."
What makes me laugh is that people always used to attack Lucas, saying that the only reason he made the prequels was to make billions of dollars from the merchandise. Of course, Disney *don't* want to make billions of dollars from all their Star Wars films and merchandise, do they? Of course not. Not Disney. They don't want to make any money at all from their purchase of Lucasfilm, do they? Ha!
Mymaker Rex: "The falcon is the falcon, no other reason needed - fantastic."
Well one reason not to buy this new Falcon set is that it's not the real Falcon with the circular dish. It's the Abrams Falcon with the rectangular dish. Another reason is that it comes with an old, wrinkly Han Solo rather than young Han. I'll be perfectly happy with all the previous LEGO Falcon sets. I won't be buying this one.
Somewhere over this entire debacle is a really good 'Der Untergang' (Hitler downfall) video to be made...
Well sabreman, change the radar dish. Swap out the Han figure. Done. And there's literally no way LEGO could get around those "issues" since they're not film accurate.
I feel sorry for the Lego employee who put up the catalog prematurely. No doubt his/her boss is gonna be really furious.
Kylo Ren's lightsaber looks meh but at least they gave it an effort. It's more than they did for an Anduril piece in the Lord of the Rings line. Didn't even try. I suppose we're lucky Lego gave Ren's lightsaber a cross guard at all. And I hope he has the mask printed on at least one side of his face as well so that he can wear the hood and still have a mask.
Looking forward to the release of the new Star Wars sets. I shall be at the LEGO Store when it opens on September 4th to pick one or two up!
For those of us who missed the catalog when it was available, where can we see it at now?
It's a bit cynical that Lego themselves is releasing Hi res pictures, prices, names and minifig close-ups officially on their webpage. I'm sorry for whoever made this mistake.
And I'm sad that Kylo Rens Shuttle isn't able to fold the wings into V-shape like seen in the trailer. That's a huge missed opportunity and the whole ship would look way better than it does now. And I wouldn't like to have a ship that looks different from how it is in the movies, no way. That's like owning an X-Wing without foldable wings. And I believe Lucas / Disney made that mistake in their briefing, as the Hasbro diecast model is also in landing mode. And of course the diecast X-Wing is in attack position, also you wouldn't guess that a diecast model would be in landing mode, of course not. Those should be flight mode. Really sad about this one. Cause I also don't think it'd be easy to fix - those wings weight a lot and that's really not easy to make them move.
The latest theory courtesy of the Hasbro catalog is that Kylo Ren's ship is actually separate from the V-wing seen in the trailer. One ship is clearly black in that catalog, while the other is grey. The wings appear to be different to some extent, however, their functions aren't shown.
Wall-e is at $59.99 on the catalog
Have been trying to avoid spoilers for the film (kinda), but I guess it's safe to assume that Poe's X-Wing will engage snowspeeders on the ice world in TFA then!
Is that the same or different to
http://catalogs.lego.com/brandcatalog/brandcatalogue2hy2015/aus_2hy2015/
@Mymaker Rex,
Yes, I'd agree that them looking like grey lumps of bricks isn't a flaw in the set design itself, but the movie, but that doesn't change that that's what the snowspeeder, transporter, and the shuttle look like (The shuttle does look better with the wings extended, as you said.)
And a lot of what you said has to do with the minifigures. I think Rey with Rey's speeder looks like a fantastic minifigure...But look at that Wolverine Helicopter set, that had three fantastic minifigures. It's a good set, it's just one speeder and two minifigures doesn't offer much play or imagination to it.
The colour scheme on the X-Wing is interesting, I like it more on the Tie Fighter...But the Tie fighter is horribly overpriced.
Overall the sets are just totally underwhelming for me.
@tomchiverton: No, they're different
If that is indeed Disney's reason for the embargo, then I am totally unashamed that I looked at the leaked pictures. I'm sure it's a bit of an over simplification, and it doesn't even apply to me because I probably won't be making any major Star Wars purchases soon anyway. (Although based on their logic, I'd bet that speeder would sell well because it's awesome and one of the cheapest.)
Was anybody able to grab a copy before it was removed ?
These prices man...
I found the catalogue but I think posting it here is against the rules... right?
All the new star wars sets are really cool except from the fact Lego commits murder with those prices. I was looking forward to Poe's x wing??
@Starstreak: Click the link under the article (Hoth bricks) then Click the poster and You'll download it.
To be honest I was looking forward more towards the rest of the catalog...
It does seem like the sets with the Disney logo on them are either very overpriced or very, very blah. Or both, like the Sith Infiltrator and that troop transport from TFA. There is one set in the spring wave with an excellent price ratio, the battle droid troop carrier. And that you couldn't make me buy for more than $30, despite being almost 600 pieces.
Personally, re Lego Episode VII x-wing, I prefer the look of the Lego Ideas version.
The only set that looks remotely cool in Rey's Speeder. And why is WALL-E $60???
I love how vague the descriptions of all the sets are. It's all about features of the sets and nothing revealing about the film at all (besides the characters, which we already know from earlier leaks). Very smart
So many complaints about prices. Jeez, aren't we all used to that by now??? You just have to be a smart shopper. I can't remember the last time I paid more than 80% of MSRP. Plus, if you're really hurting for money just use pieces you already have and download the instructions that Lego provides for free. Anything but whining! For Pete's sake they're releasing a new Star Wars movie!!!!! It's time for happiness, people!
Well, I was planning to buy a set around TFA's release date (for Christmas). You won't trick me, Disney.
OK guys I need link to the pdf, can't find it anywhere: garlandop7g at aol.com
thanks
I can't download it, I think the links don't live anymore.
Can somebody write a living link?
A kind gentleman got it to me, thank you for that! :-)
@deephorse
Yay, Disney is starting to get crafty this year with everything the sell. Believe me, it's not just LEGO sets, it's also for Disney Infinity.
Hello,
I shall go to my LEGO.shop on 4th of september, to see the new sets, although i saw them multiple times. And to buy one giant general grievous. :)
My local Sainsbury's is already selling the new Millennium Falcon and Kylo Ren's Command Shuttle.
^Lewis - whereabouts are you. My son got all money for his birthday yesterday so he can get the new MF. Wondering whether it's worth going on a mission to try and find one in store today. Also has price been confirmed is it £129?
@Awkward Customer. I am in Lincoln, price is £129.99, but I think Sainsbury's have realised their mistake by now and are trying to get them removed from all stores.
Lego instagram account has the new xwing on it this morning
