Christmas freebies revealed in brand store calendar

Posted by ,

LEGO has just published the American brand store calendar for November which illustrates the two free Christmas sets, 40138 Christmas Train and 40139 Gingerbread House.

The train will be available October 13 - November 13, free with purchases over $99. The house is free over the Black Friday/Cyber Monday weekend, also with $99 purchases. See the calendar for more information and other offers.

We have seen the train before, but nevertheless you will find images of both sets after the break.

Via TheBrickFan, once again. Doesn't Allen do a great job!

I definitely want the Gingerbread House at least. I do kind of want the train as well but I don't think the money will add up for me this year.

Might just buy these on the aftermarket if the price isn't too bad.

So will this be available in Germany?

The Gingerbread House(or rather, a larger version of it) should've been the Christmas set this year. That would've been an instant-buy for me. They could even do a repaint of the Gingerbread Man minifig to include in it.

Definitely love the Gingerbread house but am saddened to not see any double VIP points offers any time in November coinciding with either Christmas set.

^^ Yeah I agree a larger one would have worked well and gone with last years set as it also moved away from real life. Was hoping this one would come with a gingerbread man or woman, the free sets are really missing figures this year.

So cute, but I would prefer a minifigure scale gingerbread house. Still sad that I won't be adding to my winter village this year....at least I will save some money!

Hello, i saw from October 1-4, LEGO Brand Stores and LEGO Shop at Home will be offering Double VIP points on all purchases. Do you know if it is only for USA or if it is a worldwide offer (= for Europe too) ?

I'd been waiting for the scoop on the Gingerbread house. Hurrah! Now, unfortunately, my only planned purchase is the Toy Shop, and I reckon I'm living dangerously just waiting for till the train promo...

This is as a good a time as any to support one or more of the gingerbread houses up on Ideas. I prefer the design on this one:

But I wouldn't turn my nose up at this one either (which, as a bonus, seems to include indoor furnishings):

I am planning to buy a couple of Lego near the end of year, let's see what happens.

Bleh. They're nice as freebies, but I wouldn't spend any amount of money on either one.

$99 will translate into a small fortune in Europe.

When I saw the train I thought it might be good to pick up, maybe I would try and save my purchases to get it.

But if I had to pick between the two, having seen both now, the gingerbread house wins outright; they absolutely nailed it--Black Friday here we come!

Still no Bionicle Villain Pack. Time to import it...

I would love either of these, but sadly, for the first time since I can remember, there's actually not $99 worth of Lego that I want. Am I the only one who's found this to be a slow year?

These "freebies" are getting more and more lame as time goes by - not minifigure scale? - bah humbug!!

Gingerbread House looks sweet!!!

@jaitheartist -- HA!! I see what you did there.

I'd be willing to bet that these are preludes to large scale versions coming next year and the year after that. A new Christmas train would be perfect for the winter village, and gingerbread house would go well with santas workshop and its fantasy-style Christmas sub-theme ;)

Is the train the same one that comes in the City Advent Calendar?

Gravatar
By in United States,

@HugeYellowBrick, the holiday train is a small minifigure scale train where as the Advent Calendar train is likely a microbuild train, but we wouldn't want to ruin any suprises during advent this year by revealing what is in the advent calendar...

I could see adding the gingerbread house to the Winter Village Market as a meet and greet the Gingerbread man. You add an elf and a line of kids and it would look decent.

"$99 will translate into a small fortune in Europe."
Does anyone remember what the amounts in US/Europe were last year?

So, only 4 days of double points in Oct. and what seems like no double points for Black Friday weekend.
My estimate: 2016 will have only 1 day of double points, then double points will be extinct like triple points. Wow what a change to someone who spends thousands on Lego, but still is so cheap that I only buy during DP, or when thing's are on sale or clearance.

I would prefer these type of promos that are large due to the absence of Minifigures.

I like the Gingerbread House, just hoping I find $99 of other things to like at the right time before they are gone.

By in Germany,

I have already planned purchases and saved money during the year for these two sets. Looking forward to buy them. Love the Gingerbread house a bit more. Guess I can talk my mum into decorating it for Christmas.
