75827 Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters set description
Posted by CapnRex101,
We recently reported on the rumour that a Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters would be released early next year after paperballpark found a URL at shop.lego.com which indicated as such. Thanks to Hoth Bricks we now have a set description, originating from the Canadian Toys R Us website, to accompany the rumour along with a price of $399.99 CAD. That roughly corresponds to £269.99 or $349.99 based on the price of 76042 SHIELD Helicarrier, a currently available licensed set which is also priced at $399.99 CAD.
You can read the full set description after the break.
Note: The image is not of the official set, but is instead DrDaveWatford's creation.

No mention of an Ecto-1 in the description. Which means the http://brickset.com/sets/21108-1/Ghostbusters-Ecto-1 will surely fly with demand for it.
Too bad it's unavailable for ordering from LEGO.com in Europe... :-(
I'll wait to see the final product, but so far I think the price it outrageous. 400$? tsk tsk
Surely the higher the better: higher price = larger, more substantial building.
With the rumour of 3500+ pieces it seems a reasonable price
Can't wait for this set, I hope it's dark orange, like Daves.
A lot of 2016 set descriptions are up on there.
It'd be fun to integrate this with the modular sets.
ill have one :) , Ghostbusters are nostalgic
Cool. This might be the most expensive Lego set I ever buy.
Presumably that "zombie driver" has some sort of vehicle to drive. I recall a zombie taxi driver from the film I think?
For that price Ecto-1 should be included
I personally think it's rare these days to hear about a set to really get excited about but this is one!! Think I need to start saving!!
OMG!! this is the best news for a drab Monday! the price is a little OUCH though.... but have to get it to go with Ecto-1. Can't wait to see the photos! and stay puft marshmallow man in Lego dimensions next year too!!! awesome!!
Can we expect the LEGO Lawyers to come a-knocking again?
Given the size this seems to be modular size. Even the Pet Shop is only 10.5" high. I hope it is able to integrate into the modular buildings.
Oh man, decisions, decisions... I don't care about Ghost Busters, but am a modular buildings collector.
But $350 dollars, I can buy 2 and a half modulars for that price alone!
I'm bouth a modular and Ghostbuster fan. I want to buy this but the price may stop me.
So I have to see when it comes out.
Lego prices are getting silly. Very hard to keep up with the latest sets. £270 for the Helicarrier made sense as its huge. But this is just a modular, so should be £130*1.5, 50% for the fees. So maybe £200, but not £280
Huw, pls remember parents who will want to get this for their kids. Higher price = less kids that can built and enjoy it
Slimer in an official set!!!!!
^I don`t think this set is aimed on kids as the main target. More likely AFOLs that actually had their childhood in the 80s.
@ Eastwood
I would also add - higher price = more knockoffs
I don't have small salary, but this is half month of work for me.
I am extremely excited about this... Can't wait to see some official pics!!!
Ha! At that price, they can keep it!
Gaaagghhhhhhh $400? Unsane.
@Eastwood: It's not confirmed to be a modular. It's more likely that it'll be a dollhouse like the Haunted House set. If it were on the same scale as the modulars, more people would be complaining that it was too small.
I am very excited about the minifigures. All of the main/iconic characters, with a few bonus ghosts. Was not expecting the zombie cabbie or librarian ghost!
I imagine that part of the rationale for making this set so big/expensive is the upcoming new Ghostbusters film. Without that, it would seem to me a stretch for this theme to merit such extravagance, although its semi-overlap with the modular buildings increases the interest pool.
Extremely excited about this!
Disappointed by the price—more disappointed at Ghostbusters II reference...
(Possibly the greatest good-first-movie to bad-sequel ratio in movie history.)
At least there's no Janosz and Vigo minifigs...
Definitely saving up for this one.
£270 for the rumoured 4600+ pieces seems pretty fair to me. Sure, it's expensive, but they're not forcing you to buy it. Plus if it was half the size for half the price, people would moan that it was too small, or didn't have enough detail.
If the rumoured piece count is correct, it'll be the third-biggest Lego set ever made, so of course not everyone is going to buy it. They'll have factored that into their sales projections though.
So I'm betting they are using the Ninjago ghost molds for the pink and blue ghosts. Slimer might be the same as Dimensions? Which saves me some money there.
The price is the killer here. Yes, it is surely be detailed, but that is ridiculous amount of money. I don't own the Helicarrier either.
The set description doesn't really wow me..I hope there is more to it? It seems like there isn't much there to get the excitement going..although plenty of others seem excited. They are really playing up the new figures...but then again, that is all LEGO is anymore.
I had plans to build my own Modular scale HQ, of which I have the first floor done already, so I guess I'll continue on with that and save some money...
You can see also get the info for other 2016 sets

@dmetcalf: I don't see why a Ghostbusters II reference is a bad thing. I like how the set could be used for both films, while still being first-centric.
@ Sethro3: I'll bet anything that Slimer has an exclusive face print to make him more desirable here.
Can't wait to see what this looks like. I love the idea of it though.
Expectations are going to be extremely high for that price... Will have to check Rebrickable for how many pieces I will be missing...
Not a huge Ghostbusters fan, but I like it enough that I might snap this up if it is a modular or could easily be made into one. The timing is key though; this would need to be out around tax day, and there would need to not be a more tempting 'Star Wars' or Marvel UCS catching my eye.
I need to watch that movie again!
Seems like this could be a "must buy" for me. Sign me up for one or two.... :)
I'll have to get this, but ouch at the price !
I expect I'll end up getting this, but I would've been fine if they'd split it across the center and just had the front half as a modular. Perhaps incorporate technic bricks at the back as well so that someone who can afford two can snap them together and have the full building if they're a dedicated fan.
Still think they should unveil this at the Hook & Ladder No. 8 in New York City, the actual (and still working) firehouse which was used for the films. That, or the Flatiron Lego Store in Manhattan which is probably the closest store to H&L No. 8--but invite some of their guys out for the unveiling.
wow! Another Lego Ideas that became a set outside Lego Ideas. I'm starting to see a pattern here. Of course Lego is free to do so, but I wonder if someone whose idea was rejected by Lego will sue Lego for this.
The more expensive the better, means more details. A definite purchase for me. Hopefully there will be a stay puff available as a separate set, to scale with this.
Sounds awesome, and yet the trend continues.
I won't buy it for $350, but minifigs of Dana and Louis would be nice.
A lot of money for a really booorrrrring looking building. I suppose it's what's on the inside that counts! 10197 Fire Brigade Modular is way nicer (and i have one!!) so won't even entertain buying the ghostbusters firehouse.
I'm ecstatic. As a SUPER dedicated Ghost Busters fan this is great news. Great price point if it's done right. Glad to hear about the slime, I really prefer Ghostbusters 2.
I still don't get the appeal of a $350 set for a 30 year old movie, so it's not for me. if the building was more architecturally interesting, maybe I would bite. but it's a bland box
Day one buy! So excited! I wonder if the slime will be trans-green or trans-pink/purple
Can't justify that price to the wife. $199 probably, but not $349.
@8BrickMario You don't see how a reference to Ghostbusters 2 is a bad thing? Have you SEEN Ghostbusters 2? ANY reference to Ghostbusters 2 is a bad thing.
No way i'm getting this!
too expensive
And fingers crossed Stay Puft is also coming! The one on Ideas was awesome. Lovin' it!
@DanRSL: Unlike many people, I'm okay with GBII. I don't like it, but I think including ties to both movies improves the playability.
I'm in. I don't really need a roof over my head anyways. *shrug*
The price makes sense in the world of Lego but let's not fool ourselves into thinking it's "reasonable" in any sense of the word. I'll almost certainly be getting one but I won't be happy with the price. There's a fairly simple way to determine the true value of a product, it's in the profit. If, after all manufacturing costs, marketing costs, salaries etc TLG is making net profits of nearly a billion pounds a year, the consumer is getting royally screwed. Where is the value in that? Is a billion pounds a year fair profit? I guess it's the price we're willing to pay to make our children or inner children happy but it's not fair or reasonable.

I believe that the intended marketplace for this set is directed towards collectors and much less the average child which, I would not mind seeing more often. I would speculate that the average household would not be able to liberate the funds for this project even for one child considering all other expenses for gifts. In saying that, I assume that the profit margins are warm and fuzzy enough that, Lego could retail for less while maintaining the same quality. That seems to be the theory that repeats itself.
So the description, height and depth and play features seem to point more to a Simpsons house style model, than a modular building, no?
In particular, the description says, 'Two storey model,' not three like the ideas version.
hope the previuos ECTO-1 may be parked into this building... smaller ECTO-1 also is a good choice, but i prefer the first option.
