City Advent Calendar Review: Day 24
Posted by CapnRex101,
Today marks the conclusion of all three Advent Calendars and City ends as it has done for the last decade with Santa Claus himself! This is a superb minifigure featuring a unique hat, a bushy white beard and a detailed torso design with a belt and fur lining. He is equipped with his trusty sack full of presents in medium dark flesh as well, an element which I really like.
The minifigure looks great from the front but the absence of back printing is somewhat disappointing as I expect it to be included on just about every modern figure. Dual-moulded legs would also have been fantastic to represent Santa's enormous black boots.
Furthermore, a small model has been included with the Santa minifigure in many of the earlier City Advent Calendars and I would welcome a return to that tradition for next year. Santa alone is not particularly exciting if you already have the minifigure so I would like to see something additional included. On the other hand, if this is your first Santa minifigure then it is perfectly satisfactory in my opinion.
Overall - 4.0 - I love the Santa minifigure despite the minor improvements which could be made. However, this is my eighth such figure so I have penalised it slightly for not offering anything new.

wouldn't it be great if Lego made a Christmas set with a shop Santa in it! a change in the Santa Minifig is so needed!
Maybe a green, Father Christmas style one?
^^ How does a shop Santa differs from a regular one?
Besides, this one looks like the same as the one in CMF series 8, doesn't it? Nice touch of course but something different from time to time would be nice.
Is there any difference between this one - the series 8 cmf, the one the 2013 calendar, the one in 10245 Santa's Workshop and 40125 Santa's visit?
Dual-moulded legs is a great idea.
@Andhe: no difference. http://brickset.com/sets/containing-minifig-col122
The only CMF that's been openly re-used. An (Earth) Green one would be a better choice next year, but most kids recognize Santa as someone in a red suit, so I don't think we'll ever get one.
It is a good Santa figure but i had a few already. May be a change in style Next year.
A green or older style one or full printed one had been nice. But since the red one has been the universal style of Santa i think that's we gone get.
Well, there's a *few* CMFs that have been re-used. Some have been reissued in CMF collector sets, and some have been released under different colors (like the man-bat figure also existing in the Monster Fighter and Batman lines). Santa is probably the most commonly reused, though.
HOW CAN YOU PENALIZE SANTA!?
^ If I wake up tomorrow and find no presents under the tree, I will know why! :)
every year I make a santa run. its really fun to ad all the different santas and several snowmen so I guess ill never get enough of them. thanks for the reviews I look forward to them every year
I like this Santa more than last year's one because this one has grey eyebrows to better match the white beard, unlike last year's Santa who had black eyebrows. It's always better when the curtains match the carpet.
