Friends Advent Calendar Review: Day 24

Happy Christmas Eve!

We have reached the end of our advent adventure, and there have definitely been some ups and downs, but I think today's gift is a lovely model to finish off with.

The model consists of a very cute moulded penguin sat on a snowy outcrop, which is composed of a white 3x3 wedge plate, a 1x1 brick and a 1x2 slope. Three trans light blue 1x1 round tiles are used to represent a patch of ice.

The star of the show is indisputably the penguin, which has only appeared in one other regular set and one magazine promotional freebie. I think it is an excellent moulded animal, and is full of character without having been given an excessively twee expression like some of the other Friends animals (*cough*dolphin*cough*). I think you could use several of these penguins in a City zoo MOC without them looking out of place. Of course, you probably wouldn't use the lavender bow included here in that context though!

The question of what a rogue penguin is doing in Heartlake City aside (I'm guessing there's a Madagascar-like back story to this), I think it's a nice choice of model to end with, suitably wintry and I think likely to appeal to recipients. I give this model a score of 4.5.

Nice set of reviews! I love the penguin today, but I absolutely refuse to put the lavender bow on it.

I forgot about the penguin from the stock photo that shows and ruins the surprises. I was expecting some brick-build gift boxes. I can't believe we didn't get any of those this year.

The penguin--lavender bow and all--is a nice surprise.
