The Freemaker Adventures trailer and promo

Posted by ,

A trailer for the new LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures TV series, announced just before the NY Toy Fair, has been released.

You can view it after the break.

I find the English accent of the narrator jarring: I guess it's because I'm so used to hearing American ones on cartoons like this...

And here's a quick promotion for the series as part of the Disney XD "Animation Presentation" ad, first aired during the Gravity Falls series finale.

Excited?

...that accent is 100% American. No English person sounds like that.

Looks kinda funny, guess I'll give it a try...
Anyway I am slightly disappointed that the 'Friendly Battledroid' we saw in the Toy Fair images is non-canon (at least I guess?). I thought Roger would appear somewhere in Rebels, that would have been somewhat funny xD

No news about Lego Star Wars: The Resistance Rises short that was shown after the wonderful Gravity Falls series final? Or did I miss it?

Not bad! The sets have a little bit more appeal now...a little.

It might be an English voice actor doing an American accent, but it's definitely more along the lines of 'generic movie trailer voice' than English.

Voices aside, cartoon looks fun. A nice to see a family group in a change from the usual ragtag group or smugglers/mercs/outcasts etc.

That's the most American "English" accent I've ever heard! Anyway. it looks like a fun show, and another way for TLG to crowbar some new Star Wars sets onto the market.

More of LEGO's obsession with Kyber crystals...
Ah, well, they brought back the "fun" battle droids. :)

Yeah, that sounds like an American movie trailer voice to me in regards to the narrator, not an English accent. I skimmed over the part where you specifically noted it was the narrator and had to listen to the trailer a second time, as I couldn't pick out any English accents at all!

interesting that they use the "old" 2012 tie figthers and x-wings.

Agreed that the voice is intended to sound like a typical American movie trailer voice. But something is quite off about it. I currently live in a part of the US Midwest where our "lack of an accent" is an advantage to students taking acting classes.

Come on people - haven't you ever heard of a Transatlantic accent? That's what the narrator is using. Its association with the entertainment of the early 20th century is what's calling to mind old movie trailers and news reels for people.

"A Mid-Atlantic accent, or Transatlantic accent, is a cultivated or acquired accent of the English language once found in the American upper class and taught for use as a standard in American schools for actors as late as the early 1900s. It is not a vernacular accent typical of any location or any natural variety, but a consciously learned blend of American English and British English, intended to favor neither." - Wikipedia

It is a Star Wars tradition: "Carrie Fisher had an on/off Mid-Atlantic accent in Star Wars (1977)." !!

I love how Leia talks like a British person in front of Tarkin and Vader, but the moment they threaten to blow Alderran up her voice switches to an American accent. One of the funny parts of old Star Wars movies.
