The Summer Olympics are going to be taking place in the city of Rio de Janiero, Brazil, from August 5-21, 2016. As we previously reported, LEGO has partnered with the games to release a set based on its two mascots: Vinicius and Tom. These two are named after Brazilian music icons.

40225 contains 197 pieces and, according to a new blog post published, will only be available in official Rio 2016 shops as well as Rio de Janiero and São Paulo airports. Read on after the break for some more photos, including box art!

I think they both look absolutely adorable! However, it's about time the Mixels ball joints are colored something other than shades of grey. Wouldn't you agree?

By in Germany,

I'm a huge fan of the Olympics, so I'm a little bit sad that they won't be available here. But maybe they turn up on eBay or elsewhere. I bought merchandise from the Vancouver and London games long after they happened.

My London 2012 bus is actually driving on the LEGO Tower Bridge. ;-)

By in United States,

The faces remind me of Adventure Time. I don't feel the need to have these...

That sticker placement in the second photo .... oof.

By in Belgium,

Excellent, not polybags, I can safely let these pass on by :)

By in Poland,

Not my cup of tea. But yes, definitely agreed on those ball joints.

Looks like some adventure time thing.

By in Canada,

Not really excited about these either. Agreed on the ball joints as well.

Awww. I think they're cute. Definitely getting that Adventure Time vibe, too. Too bad I don't know anyone headed to the olympics. (I don't care enough about them to try to get them via secondary market.)

By in Germany,

Never heard of something called adventure time, must be something regional.
Yet to be honest, these figures to me look like something my daughter would quickly throw together using pieces from our Mixels/spare parts bin. Don't mind that these aren't available here. I'll pass.

By in Australia,

Provided its priced like a 197 piece set (and realistically, it probably wont be), this is a fantastic ball joins dump. I always need more of them. OR AT LEAST IT WOULD BE! If it were available to me!

Ugh, living in Australia has given me a really bitter view on exclusives. Stop doing it. Stop restricting access to things, its annoying.

By in United Kingdom,

I wonder if the ball joint pieces are 'locked' to certain colours, a bit like the technic axles and pins are?

@tyresoflaherty, his sticker placement is probably better than yours. ; )

By in Brazil,

Personally I think they're pretty ugly, a deservice to Tom and Vinicius' memories...

I'll be going to the games, but will probably check them out sooner, next plane I catch. 'In person', though, they'll really have to overcome my first (bad) impressions from the press and art releases before I agree spending anything on them.

FYI that 130 BRL is about $40 USD... taking into account currency fluctuations and the time/effort/risk on it plus paypal costs, I think $50+shipping is about as low as I'd be willing to sell them for.
Is anyone interested at that price? I was thinking we'd get 5 or 10 up to the USA as a first run and then see what overall demand is. Arrival could be within a week if POA or BSB have stores in the airports, otherwise I'll personally be through GRU the first week of July.
