LEGO Dimensions year two - what you need to know! (everything so far)
Posted by TheBrickPal,
All of the exciting upcoming content for year two of LEGO Dimensions was officially announced yesterday, as we reported on.
With 16 franchises from Cartoon Network, original LEGO properties, 80s classics and more joining the game/set roster, it's hard to properly take in and analyze all of the new stuff (beginning to be released from September 27th) without some kind of organization.
Luckily, I have made it easier for you all with this list after the break...
Cartoon Network
Adventure Time
- Finn the Human (with Jakemobile and Ancient War Elephant); 71245 Level Pack
- Jake the Dog (with BMO); 71246 Team Pack
- Lumpy Space Princess (with Lumpy Car); 71246 Team Pack
- Unknown third pack character(s).
Teen Titans Go!
- Beast Boy
- Raven
J.K. Rowling's Wizarding World
Harry Potter
- Harry Potter (with Enchanted Car); 71247 Team Pack
- Lord Voldemort (with Hogwarts Express); 71247 Team Pack
- Unknown third pack character(s).
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
- Newt Scamander; Story Pack
- Unknown second pack character(s).
80s classics
The Goonies
- Sloth
Gremlins
- Gizmo; 71256 Team Pack
- Stripe; 71256 Team Pack
The A-Team
- B.A. Baracus (with B.A.'s Van); 71251 Fun Pack
E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial
- E.T.; 71258
Miscellaneous
Ghostbusters (2016 reboot)
- Abby Yates (with Ecto-1); 71242 Story Pack
- Unknown second pack character(s).
Mission: Impossible
- Ethan Hunt (with IMF Scrambler and IMF Sports Car); 71248 Level Pack
Sonic the Hedgehog
- Sonic (with Tornado and one other item); 71244 Level Pack
I have not listed The Powerpuff Girls, The LEGO Batman Movie, LEGO City Undercover, Knight Rider or Beetlejuice as no characters are confirmed for any of those franchises yet. It is highly likely that for the first, we will be getting at least one of the girls; if only one, then probably Blossom. For the last two franchises, it's logical that their titular characters will receive their own (either Fun or Level) packs.
We can also deduct that the LEGO Movie universe version of Batman will be available (with the new utility belt!). You can't have a pack for that movie without Batman himself, right? For LEGO City Undercover, I am guessing Chase McCain and Rex Fury will get a Team Pack together; the latter of whom has never seen a physical variant!
Finally, we are still unaware what the significance of the rumored "Connectables" are, but I expect we will hear news about them soon enough.
So there you have it! The E3 Expo is next week, from June 14 to 16, and TT Games should be showing more packs and have demo gameplay there. We will keep you guys up to date on any more news. What do you expect to happen next? What do you think of what has been revealed so far? Sound off your thoughts in the comments...

In the picture shown, aren't Jake's hips/whatever the wrong color? The Dimensions pack shows them as matching the legs.
^ Yep, that's definitely an error.
@hjarzab Finn's ;)
I am a HUGE adventure time fan and even though I don't have the game yet I'm going to get the adventure time packs for the figures. By the way "ancient war elephant" is actually the "Ancient psychic tandem war elephant" Search it up its pretty cool.
^ I know that's the full name, I'm just going by what it says on the box.
Will LEGO/Warner Bros. release a new Gateway, like Skylanders does almost every year?
Love all the sets. The only thing I'm unhappy about is the Tom Cruise character as that will mean money indirectly being funneled to $cientology. I could just about let Bart Simpson (Nancy Cartwright) slide, but Tom Cruise is $cientology's chief figurehead / recruiting icon and has had the head of the criminal organization as his best man at his last two weddings. If I were LEGO, I'd steer a million miles away from anything Tom Cruise related. Mission Impossible doesn't even seem like a great fit for the game anyway.
^^ Nope, everything is compatible with last year's Starter Pack!
But where are green arrow and supergirl in all this?!?!?!
I hear a rumor that disney is buying warner bros. does that mean star wars could be a possibility?
Bad News Everybody....still no Futurama! No where's my What If Machine & Finglonger.
I don want to live on this planet anymore
These new minifigs look great can't wait to pick them up.
Newt Scamander story pack? I am so happy! Can't wait to get a hold of one. I wonder if this means Fantastic Beasts sets...
It's interesting that a couple of these are characters from lego ideas projects that didn't pass approval(Goonies & Adventure Time).
I'm so stoked for these new packs. 16 new franchises!!! The amount of content in this game is going to be insane, I'm so glad year 1 and year 2 packs are fully interchangeable to create some crazy combos. I cannot wait to see the Harry Potter, A-team and sonic adventure worlds. I'm not too familiar with the newer franchises like adventure time but I still can't wait to play them. Roll on Sep 27th!!! Having said that I've still quite a few gold bricks to get in the current game. Looks like the money I was going to spend on assault on hoth will be going here instead.
Also, if we are really going for 80s nostalgia how about if they did He man and transformers!!! Although the ultimate would have to be Star Wars.
So just making sure... Sonic is coming THIS year correct?
Do we have confirmation that Sonic's pack is a Level Pack? Because at this point, it really could be any of the four (There's apparently a Sonic Movie in the works...).
@Brainslugged I'm pretty sure no money from this will go to Cruise or Scientology. If anything his likeness as Ethan Hunt is owned by Paramount so they will get the money.
^^ I know via a source (can't say) that it's a Level Pack.
I read that there are two TTG numbers71254 and 71255.Are Raven and Beast Boy fun Packs or is Raven and Beast boy from a team pack?
Wait a second, I don't recall the A-team to be an 80s' movie
I thought Chase McCain did have a psychical variant inside of the High Speed Chase set, or are you talking about Rex Fury?
^ Rex, yes.
In the picture near the bottom I see a pirate ship... Probably Sloth's vehicle; The Inferno! :D Super cool!! I also see a Biplane. I'm guessing that's Sonic's second vehicle! And also a LEGO® CITY Helicopter for Chase McCain, most likely. :0
I am so excited for these new packs!!! I will most definitely be getting Finn, Jake, LSP, Harry, Voldemort, and Sloth!
And hopefully E.T. and Sonic too! And some of the others too if I have enough... o_o Because I'm also definitely getting The Yellow Submarine! :D I am so excited!!!
Also, my imagination is big enough... :P
It's my wallet I'm afraid of... o_0
A-Team was an 80s' TV show. B. A. Baracus as portrayed by Mr. T
^^ The ship should be Metalbeard's Sea Cow.
Certainly an exciting announcement, and amidst the recent Disney Infinity shuttering, it was a bold reveal to show that WB and LEGO are nowhere close to being done with this format just yet.
I was so excited when I saw Beast Boy... And then I suffered a pretty big letdown. It was Teen Titans Go :( NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! If the Raven Minifigure has a big goofy smile I'm going to cry.
^^^ Or maybe the ship from The Goonies
I cannot wait for the gremlins stuff!
Right Mr t’s hair for axl from nexo knights.
But where is star wars?
^^ Disney only just cancelled infinity it takes time to develop these things.
I expect the 3rd adventure time pack will be princess bubblegum and marcy. Would be very disappointed if not. I am very close to starting to collect dimensions but I still need to hear something about a PC version, I'm not going to buy a console for it as well thats money better spent on more sets.
I hope we will see Ben Ten ( generation 1) in any any of the pack variants
Raven is highly useful (and wanted) for DC fans as it will allow them to complete the team, I have to see her to be a judge but I am aiming to get Mr. T for sure.
I was very excited by these reveals. So excited that I went to Amazon Canada and found everything available for pre-order that is known so far. So I ordered everything except Adventure Time because I have to have something to get at the stores when it hits.
I am a bit disappointed in the pricing for the Story Packs, it would appear they are 59.99$ CND, which is pretty much the price of a brand new game for the latest consoles. This to me seems a bit of a bad pricing choice for digital content granting LEGO bricks, it's the highest price point outside of the Starter Pack and may hurt Dimensions ability to maintain itself going forward. Mostly due to the nature of the controversy surrounding the reboot. I'm all in, regardless of story, but there are some who may not be inclined to pick up something full price that doesn't include a game disc due to the perception of value.
If these are 60$ in Canada then I must surmise that they are 60$ in the US based on pricing trends in LEGO Dimensions across the boarder. You're essentially paying for an entire TT Game without the disc. What are your thoughts on this? Will you be willing to pay the price of a brand new game for however many story packs we are getting? So far there are two confirmed, it's possible we could see as many as six given the large number of franchises being included and I think The Goonies might be a full story pack simply because it could happen.
Also I have to note that so far most of the revealed products are expensive Level, Story and Team packs with only a single Fun Pack shown so far. Granted this is the launch of a new Phase or Series of the main storyline in a sense, so naturally we should expect to see large support for all packs, but why is The A-Team the only Fun Pack confirmed and available for purchase right now? Prices on those Level and Team Packs have always been complained about and people prefer to wait for a sale for these things.
Anyway sorry to be a bit of a downer in bringing up prices and things again, it's simply observations I've made concerning what we know and what hasn't been shown yet. I certainly hope the number of Team and Level Packs doesn't increase to the point where we see the Fun Packs being phased out or sacrificed due to in-game content requirements. I also theorize that we will get Ice King in the third Adventure Time set as a Fun Pack, I'd prefer Princess Bubblegum or even Marceline, but based on popularity alone Ice King will probably take the final Minifigure slot for this Series.
What's the creature with glowing blue eyes next to Harry and Gizmo?
Am I the only one who's super excited for Lego City Undercover? It left off with a huge cliffhanger, so I'm hoping we'll get to continue the story. Are we sure that it will be a team pack, though? As much as I'd love to get a team pack with Rex, I would also love a level to finish the story of the game.
^^ that would be Lord Vortech, the villain of Dimensions.
I've been holding off getting any Dimensions stuff so far in the hope that I could stay strong.
I thought I might be able to do it too.
But this? THIS IS JUST TOO AWESOME!
***Wallet empties rapidly***
I'd like to see Sonic in a race with the Flash. It would be 108080 fps.
^^ Ah, got it. Thanks!
Story Packs (Ghostbusters, Fantastic Beast) will contain a new base plate build, like the one included in the Starter Pack, that will be interchangeable on the base unit, that is why the $60 price. This is in lieu of a whole new starter set and a better option than forcing every consumer to buy an upgrade reader unit like Skylanders and Infinity did. These packs will open up "Parallel Worlds" that will have affect on the main Dimension world. I feel this is a smart move as it encourages some who might have been afraid in investing into the LEGO toys to life system for fear of having an obsolete game pad every 9-12 months, to jump on board.
We can also expect packs (Story, Level) based on The LEGO Batman Movie.
Matthew Ashton has also revealed, over on Twitter, that The Powerpuff Girls will also be coming to Dimensions as well--we are getting plenty of material from the new LEGO/Cartoon Network deal.
Though there hasn't been mention yet, I'm sure we can also expect packs based on LEGO themes like Nexo Knights and such.
If you look at the picture, you can see the Raven figure
Perhaps... since Disney infinity is basically gone...maybe we will see Star Wars and Marvel... I would love The Doctor, Batman, Homer, Gizmo, Chewbacca and Hulk to team up
Connectables? Could they possibly be talking about these old things? http://www.vintagetoysillustrated.com/vintagetoy/forsale/january/2011/MATCHBOX_DIECAST_CARS_TRUCKS_BUSES_SEMI_RIGS_LOT_CONNECTABLES.JPG
Oh please let it be true!
I know... probably not. :(
It would be great if connectables was those!!! Chewymurphy I am also hugely looking forward to seeing what they do with Lego city undercover.
@JD3779lego "The Inferno" is the ship from The Goonies. ;P
Mr. T!! I don't own the game, but would like to buy the A-Team set when it goes on sale.
I'm surprised and kinda excited that Fantastic Beasts will have a Story Pack. That should be pretty fun.
Lots of good stuff coming down the line, hoping that there are not any new special abilities tied to the new waves outside of the Arena stuff because I'd hate to have an ability tied to a character/vehicle from a franchise I care nothing about.
A-Team? Sweet! Hopefully we'll get a Magnum PI pack next.
Harry Potter!!!! Voldemort!!!! Excuse me I need to go to the store now.
^ @RyanK05: Hope you're not too disappointed when you get there :P These don't come out until September.
Arhur Parsons (one of the developers) said that the LEGO Batman Movie will be a story pack, and Marceline from Adventure Time will be a fun pack!
I don't like the looks of this game. It seems too scattered - one minute they have Simpsons, the next they have the A-Team. It just seems too weird.
