San Diego Comic Con is now underway. Allen over at The Brick Fan is in attendance and has posted images of, and more information about, the Brick Headz that will be available to purchase -- if you are lucky -- at the show. I have straightened them out and added them to the database.

If you are attending I wish you luck with getting hold of them, and the Atom and Captain America minifigures. I suspect that you will spend more time stressing and queuing to get them than you will enjoying the rest of the show. If you are there, let us know how you get on in the comments below.

Could it be the case these have to be sold in packs of two to avoid them being classed as "action figures" or something for licensing purposes?

40 USD per pack? That is 20 USD per figure or 21.7 ct per piece? How do they justify that price?

Relax, the normal ones will be cheaper. Everything LEGO sells at Comic Con is $40.

The minifigure giveaway was a bit of a disaster this year. This is probably the 5th year I've tried for them, and it was the most frustrating yet. I got in line over an hour early, but once they opened for some reason we all moved at a snails pace- probably 10 feet every 10 minutes. After almost 3 hours of waiting, they ran out of figures and disbanded the line before even half of us got a chance to get to the raffle. The last few years everything moved much more quickly, so even if they did run out you didn't waste more than an hour or so of the day. Finding a quarter of the day gone without even a chance at the figure was pretty disappointing.

I still say the best system was from a few years ago when Lego would scan badges at their booth throughout the day and put the winning badges on a screen at the end of the day. This way you never had to wait and everyone was guaranteed a chance at winning

It shouldn't be a case of having to win -- LEGO should produce enough to give one to every attendee that wants one. They cost cents to produce, after all.

That would be ideal, but i wouldn't even expect that of lego. There are, afterall, hundreds of thousands of people showing up to this thing, so even pennies add up. The thing i dont understand is that they had a system that worked well, but changed it.

As somebody fortunate enough to attend comic con regularly and has had pretty good luck getting figures overall, i wouldnt be disappointed in the slightest if they did away with the promotion or even made it timed exclusive (similar to how they gave away Frodos in special cases a few minths before the Hobbit sets released a few years back.) As much as I like collecting these figures, it makes me uneasy that only the privileged few who attend and scalpers seem to be making out well on this deal.

I don't have the first Headz but I was lucky enough to get Atom after 4 hrs in line in the hot sun (we were moved from the place in the shade). After they open the line is moving quite fast. You just tap and see a Bad Cop (no prize) or the Good Cop (:D).

Huw, if they did that, the figures would lose some of their their exclusive resell value. After all, pleasing collectors and investors is what LEGO is all about, right? (Kidding!)

According to somebody on Eurobricks, the problem is that there was little to no monitoring of the line up near the raffle, and it was very easy for people to cut in at places where the line was divided. Typically when there are breaks in comic con lines (they often keep gaps clear to allow foot traffic to pass through) there are line monitors in place to make sure people aren't cutting. This was true for the entirety of the line outside the pavilion, so I'm not sure how they dropped the ball near the raffle itself, the most critical place for this kind of security.
