Instructions for Technic B models are now available
Posted by Huw,
LEGO has just uploaded PDFs for the B models of the summer Technic sets:
- Mobile aggregate sorter from 42055 Bucket Wheel Excavator
- Silage plough from 42054 Claas tractor's logging arm
- Volvo L30G from 42053 Volvo EW160E
I have posted pictures of them all after the break.
This looks particularly impressive. I wonder if my Argos has a BWE in stock? :-)

^ That would be amazing to see. Somebody do it.
With amazing B Models like this, LEGO sure knows how to extract money from the wallets of Technic fans :)
I'm very curious about the brick sorter, will it work well?
The logging arm for the Claas is very disappointing, how can it be called a B model? it's like LEGO had no idea. They could have added some other variations or arms.
The Volvo L30G seems smaller than the original model but may be fun to play with.
Good luck to the Youtubers who are trying to be the first to post a B model review. :)
^I think the Silage plough (or pusher) is an excellent choice!
I assume most people today know next to nothing about farming. This farm tool will make you aware of both large-scale modern farming and silage.
This said, this Claas design appears to be very "German" over-engineered. Most silage pushers are much smaller and much simpler in design.
I can't wait for someone to build the aggregate processing plant and make a video of it in action!
The mobile aggregate sorter actually looks cooler than the bucket wheel excavator to me!
^ Agreed. My 42055 arrives tomorrow (£10 off RRP from Amazon.co.uk) and I'll be building the B model first.
Ooh, that aggregate processing plant may actually get me to buy a Technic set!
Do we know how many parts are used for the B model in general and in particular about the BW 42055 ?
Thank you.

I completed my 42055 B-model today and I can say it works fairly well, but not perfectly. Some of the small bricks can end up on the 'wrong' conveyor belt, get stuck in the sorting mechanism and very rarely cause the belts to get stuck (causing no real malfunction, since the contraption automatically stops when jammed). However, The mechanics are quite ingenious; It's a combination of a sorting roster and multiple shaking platforms to do the sorting of the parts.
I counted all the parts I had left after building. There were around 975 bricks left (not yet knowing how many of those are spare parts of the A-model) so I'd guess the model uses a little less then 3000 bricks. That's a lot of the original parts and I don't think they could have created a better B model than this. This is definately the greatest technic set I've ever built and I wonder if the A-model can top that achievement.
There's only one problem; I don't want to break it down to build the A-model. I'd rather buy another one to build and have the machines work together. Sigh, if only my wallet would allow that... ;)
I went and bought a second one. I'm about 1/3rd the way through building the B model so will hopefully post a review next week.
Thanks Evvilspoon for your feedback...
I definitely will buy 2 boxes to get both models.
