More The LEGO Batman Movie sets revealed
Posted by CapnRex101,
USA Today has revealed images of two more sets based on The LEGO Batman Movie today.
70900 The Joker Balloon Escape contains 124 pieces and is priced at $14.99 which probably equates to £11.99 in the UK. 70908 The Scuttler, meanwhile, is a 775-piece set which will cost $79.99, likely corresponding to about £69.99.
Both sets will be available worldwide on the 1st of January.
70900 The Joker Balloon Escape - Batman, The Joker
70908 The Scuttler - Batman, Dick Grayson, Barbara Gordon, Commissioner Gordon, The Joker, Poison Ivy
Taking their price points into consideration, I think both sets look very impressive! Let us know what you think in the comments below.

WOW this set looks INCREDIBLE! Poison Ivy looks good and Batman's Scuttler-mech-crawler thing looks awesome too!
Reallly, really like the look of the Scuttler. Will probably pick it up along with the Joker's Low-Rider.
The Joker Ballroom Escape looks like a great parts pack, and that Scuttler looks like a crazy/cool Bat Mech. Can't wait to see the movie!
The macaroni piece in red allows for an excellent industrial piping. Both sets look awesome IMO.
Interesting sets. They look decent overall. I will likely pass on the balloon one ONLY because it is a repeat and not much new. I don't need every variant of the Joker hair/face.
I don't particularly like the use of darker skin tone for the Gordons. In all of the comics I've read they were redheads, so it seems weird to be so tan. (Don't get me wrong, I'd love more variety in LEGO figures, just seems odd with these particular figures).
The sets look good, but the way this theme is going, I'll have to be rich to afford the entire line. I'm surprised there are so many expensive sets.
Oh my poor dwindling bank balance!
I LOVE that Joker Balloon Escape! And not just because of the figures, but the builds are fantastic as well. It's one of the best under 20€ Super Hero sets to date in my opinion. Day one purchase for me. And The Scuttler also looks great, probably buying it too.
That balloon is going to sell like hotcakes...
The Scuttler is ingenious!
The Scuttler looks really interesting and different. I hope it stays well in balance!
@Sethro3: Even natural redheads are not necessarily white. I don't have any strong feelings one way or the other about what the Gordons' skin tone should be but in general I'm glad that this movie's creators kept racial diversity in mind, since that's something that licensed LEGO themes sometimes struggle with. It's getting better as Hollywood starts to acknowledge its own casting biases, but Light Nougat minifigure faces still vastly outnumber other skin colors even in current sets.
Anyway, Joker's Balloon Escape is a great low-priced set, and I LOVE the design of the Scuttler! So very batlike, and yet so very unlike any bat-vehicle I've ever seen elsewhere! Shame it doesn't have a Transparent Yellow windscreen like many of the other LEGO Batman Movie vehicles; I'm sure Spacers would've made great use of that helicopter windscreen in Tr. Yellow!
The Scuttler looks...amazing. There's a little 6 year old in me screaming in delight. If I had cash I would pick it up. Alas, I am broke. ;-;
Am I right in thinking there is a November wave of sets followed these two and more in January?
@Matty8241 - Three sets are being released in North America on the 27th of November but it seems unlikely that they will be available in the rest of the world until the 1st of January.
Can anyone tell if both of Poison Ivy's arms are dual moulded? In one picture it looks like both are but the other seems to only show one being all flesh and the other half dark green.
Her arms look dual-moulded to me, which is great because it looks like she's wearing long green evening-wear gloves. :)
^Ivis arms do look dual moulded. I may get the Balloon Escape due to the small industrial tank that will look great in my factory MOC, could do with regular minifigures.
I'm going to buy the Balloon escape primarily for the Joker and Batman as most of the other sets are much to expensive for me at the moment. ;-;
On a side note it really makes me mad how Lego doesn't release some of their new sets BEFORE Christmas. >:(
Five balloons in one set... must have. And that mech looks really, really cool. The Batman movie might bring me into the super heroes line.
The Joker Balloon Escape I want! I don't have any of the balloon pieces and the macaroni pieces in red will be very handy to have. The bat mech's cockpit is awesome in the other set--and Poison Ivy looks cool.
That Bat-mech-thing seems to be aware of how perfectly ridiculous it is. Balloon set is pretty good, if some cheap Bat-vehicle comes up I'll get that instead though.
I'm so look forward to the mad quirkiness of this film and its sets. So many excellent minifigs!
Ugh, Ivy and the Gordans look awesome but I have no interest in the vehicle.
So Batman gets a bat-shaped giant robot? Of course he does. I actually don't like it that much. I like what looks like a new hair-piece for Poison Ivy, but beyond that, it's leaving me cold.
DANG! The Scuttler looks amazing!
Wow.
My Christmas Plan: By the Joker balloon escape and the Mr Freeze set as they are both cheap and can clip onto each other. Then, using minifigures from the new cmf line, build my own batcave with a "wardrobe section".
I am also waiting for the batwing to be revealed, so I can pick it up in the summer wave.
Will have to pass on the Scuttler as in my opinion it sought of looks ugly and less "sleek" than other bat vehicles.. Will have to wait for better photos though, before I start judging it.
Omg. Nooooooo. The joker set will be available on Jan 1st. After Christmas. :(
Joker's smile is a bit too creepy.
Also please stop putting all of the good figures in the expensive sets.
$15 for LBM Batman, Joker, and 5 Balloons??? Sold.
The Joker's face looks really off with the giant spiky teeth. Part of me wants to believe it's really Killer Croc disguised as the Joker due to this.
Mixed opinions on the scuttler. I love the very bat look to it, and not just a batlogo look like the batwing, but actually based on a real bat. That having been said, while I get that all the LEGO movies are "rule of cool" I have a hard time seeing how this vehicle would be a really good one. All the possible roles it might be good at feel like they are done much better by a more famous Bat-themed vehicle. Still, I guess it's really just to sell more LEGO vehicle sets.
This movie should produce an endless supply of Batvehicles well into 2018. I hope to get a small set with the Batkayak and maybe a plaid and khaki woodsman Batman suit.
@JoshuaMak yes
*these
When do these come out
Stand out fig is Poison Ivy by a mile! Probably the most accurate rendition of her so far, in terms of likeness to the comics. They've captured her hair well and overall sultry demeanour which is part of her power-set (plant pheromones, etc).
They're AWESOME
@capnrex101 isn't four sets getting released in North America on November 27th.
The Batmobile
Joker's lowrider
Batcave
And mr. Freeze mech set.
S
I don't know why but I'm getting Metal Gear vibes from the Scuttler.
^^ Yep, those are the ones.
Eh. I think the Scuttler probably needs a few more stud shooters. :)
The scuttler is basically a bat crawling around on the ground. Neat.
Anyone else notice the bomb in joker balloon escape has a clip on it and can be attached to the mini wall build in the mr freeze set, as there is a bar on that that corresponds with it.
The new trailer has sold me on this more cartoony version of the Joker. Poison Ivy looks the best version so far. Not sure I have room for the Scuttler but with Dick Grayson, Barbara Gordon and Commissioner Gordon in the set its a must buy.
