2017 Marvel Super Heroes images
Posted by Huw,
Images of three Marvel Super Heroes Avengers sets have surfaced on Amazon Japan this morning, which you can see after the break and in the database.
We now have images for 143 2017 sets which I think must just about be all of them for the sets being released in the first few months of next year.

Detroit Steel looks great! Loving the new shoulder-pad pieces.
So that mighty micros helmet mold for Iron Man carried over? That's a shame.
Those elastic arms are weird... did we ever get a torso without the arms?
What's Iron Man Holding? It looks like a trans blue banana.
Ahhh. Not a fan of that Ironman helmet..
I agree with ArmageddonQuilt. Besides, we've gotten the old Iron Man helmet mold dozens of times already, including several color variations. It's time for a change.
These sets look pretty good, especially the Coulson one! Detroit Steel looks SO much better than in the videogame! XD
@ArmageddonQuilt, it'll probably scratch the plastic of the hands of the minifigure if it's anything like the infamous super jumper.
Loving the Destroit Steel set, and finally we get Coulson!!!!! :D The builds for the set don't look half bad either.
I feel like the minifigure with the elastic arms (no idea what her name is) might look better once they've been positioned better, as the arms are in a pretty awful looking position. I also wonder if they're using these arms on a lesser known character to test the waters for Mr Fantastic.
Not loving them. In fact I'm generally finding this year's sets weaker than last year's. (Which is fine, because I can use my Lego funds mopping up the sets I've missed this year.)
The Detroit Steel set already piqued my interest just on hearing the name, but knowing that it comes with Agent Coulson and Lola it's now a must must MUST have for me :D
Finally get Colson. Huzzah!
@ArmageddonQuilt, I didn't realise there was a new Ms Marvel, as you can probably tell I'm not too knowledgeable about comics, especially newer stuff :)
And yeah, still haven't gotten around to watching the latest Fan4stic, and probably won't bother.
Very excited to get Kamala Khan minifig! I just hope they include normal minifig arms for her in addition to the stretchy arms.
Detriot Steel set isn't bad, but the others... bleurgh... TLBM sets look so much better.
Coulson looks great but these are botín my alley due to the fact that I am concentrating on other things this year.
@merman, No, I don't think there has ever been a minifigure with empty arm sockets before but I could be wrong about that.
@Werbals, I doubt they would include normal arms as well. Normal arms are not designed to be replaceable.
@ArmageddonQuilt, The box art minifigure is the same as the one in the contents picture but with the oversized hand removed and the arm-tubing pulled through. I'm pretty sure the arm-tube is one piece that goes through the torso, not separate arms that are connected to the shoulders by a joint.
@Thebrickdoctor, I was under the impression that TLG couldn't do the Fantastic Four for licensing reasons.
I love the bigfigs and minifigs in the Hulk vs Red Hulk set and will get this set for them. Shame about the vehicles though. I can see how the cars might have play value for KFOLs, but for display purposes they don't add anything. I'm not the most up-to-date person on Marvel lore, but why would a super-strong, furiously angry giant need a car? I'm sure there's an in-story reason but suspect it's so Marvel can sell more toy licences.
Detroit Steel Strikes set looks amazing! I'll get the others just for the minifigures, but those are *good* minifigures.
OMG!!! ITS A LEGO AGENT COULSON!!
Couldn't care less about the jet, couldn't care less about the monster trucks, but COULSON.
All the minifigures look great, especially the new Cap and Justin Hammer, I love the torsos of those two minifigures. Captain America's jet looks like a mix of Black Panther's Jet and 70721 Kai Fighter, but it doesn't bother me that much. Super-Adaptoid looks good, basically Iron Man with wings.
I love the Detroit Steel Strikes set, it looks fantastic. It's awesome to get Agent Coulson in a set. Lola is one of the rare Lego cars that look fantastic in my opinion, althought it looks like it can only fit one minifig.
Hulk vs. Red Hulk still looks terrible, easily the worst Super Heroes set ever.
@Zander I think that TLG can make sets of F4 based on the comics, just like with X-Men.
Is that the Lola?!
I think that the minifigures looks great, i like the new iron man helmet!
But the build looks ok, a bit wierd monster trucks.
^ yes i think it is, LE-GOlas.
The Lola can probably also can fly, i can see a tiny gear on the back!
The car in the Detroit set is in my opinion one of the best vehicles in the overall 2017 set range so far.
I'm not a super heroes fan but am definately going to have to get that car from the Detroit Steel set, that is one sweet ride! Hopefully there will be a few avail. on ebay before long.
Everything in the Capt. America set looks horrible, other than the Super Adaptiod which just looks mediocre. Makes me mad. Unless Miss Marvel has smaller arms as well as the long ones or if the long ones are really stretchy, she is awful. I don't know anything about Detroit Steel so I can't comment on that.
Couldn't care less about Super Heroes, but the car in Detroit Steel looks good... resembles an early 60's Corvette.
Yes! Agent Coulson! Shut up and take my money!
Not interested in any of these. That car in the Detroit Steel set is cool, though.
I can't say I really care for any of these. I would pick up the Justin Hammer minifig...but it isn't a great Justin Hammer, so I'll pass.
I do like this bomber jacket version of Cap but it doesn't make the set worth it. I could possibly see myself picking up the Hulks one on clearance (as a parts pack).
The 2017 Mighty Micros, however, look great.
The Hulks have vehicles... This should not be! Loving Lola though! The sets overall still look weaker than last year's.
"Don't touch Lola"
Haven't been picking up many sets lately, but that's a pretty good official corvette! Coulson is just a bonus. I'll also probably have to pick up that Steve Rogers torso along the way.
when did batman sets became better than marvel sets?
well, that car looks pretty cool at least.
Coulson is the only bright spot.
Fairly certain the Ms Marvel figure only is using a long flexi tube through the torso and then connecting the fists into them. If so, it is a bit disappointing to me. I figured everyone would be excited for a Coulson figure. Did not realize there would be a Lola too.
The Hulk set? Well it would appear that LEGO wanted to do Red Hulk and a She Hulk and just threw something together in order to make it a 'set'. Im guessing the Figures are really the main reason to buy for most.
The weaponry that Detroit Steel is 'holding' looks a bit awkward, just attached to his palms like that. does it flip around to leave his hands more clear?
That Detroit Steel set looks so much better than I thought it would be. The jet pursuit could be a little better, but it's not bad.
Still hate the Hulk- who has no need for any vehicle- set. The figures are great though.
Who is the Ultron/Falcon hybrid in the Captain America set?
Kamala Khan Looks Cool And Super Adaptoid,And Captain America Looks Cool With His Jet
The Detroit Steel Armor Looks Good On Justin Hammer,For Ironman There Is A Weird Power Blast Play Feature Which Looks Better Than A Super Jumper And Ironman Has The New Helmet Mould Like We Saw In The Mighty Micros Picture Off The Ironman vs Thanos,And Finally An Agent Coulson Minifigure With His Car Lola I Like All The Sets And Figs And Hope To Get These Next Year.
You know how threads on the Modular Series and on UCS are dominated by how niche the whole idea of an AFOL cash-cow is...the idea that LEGO is making bank on small sets in the Walmart isle...
Surely all this minifig fan service calls that into question. You've got Star Wars sets filled with named characters nobody's heard of, much less can pronounce. Then you've got MULTIPLE licensed super hero lines supplying nothing but obscure references for fans.
For a non-fan, this is a tiring glut of material. To me these sets are utterly and irredeemably unimpressive.
i,m a big captain america fan so i,ll be getting the jet, love the shield printed discs, not familiar with detroit steel but it looks really smart like a big mixel, it cant beat the hulk buster structure or the scuttler from the new lego batman movie but i like it, also nice to see lola as a lego build too,
now we just need a deadpool set thats not over shadowed by x-men characters a daredevil set with kingpin and bullseye would be great, and fantastic four needs some lego treatment. with silver surfer as a polybag.. give away maybe at comi -con or in lego store.
@Jedijon: Kids have been buying action figures of obscure Star Wars and Super Hero characters for about as long as there have been Star Wars and Super Hero action figures. The appeal of those characters isn't remotely limited to adult fans. Kids EAT UP that kind of obscure lore and trivia. Do you think the hundreds of Bionicle, Ninjago, and Pokémon characters were created for adults' benefit?
Furthermore, each one of these Super Heroes sets has at least one "A-list" character as its star (Iron Man, Captain America, and Hulk). And even the less well-known characters like Ms. Marvel, Super-Adaptoid, Justin Hammer, Phil Coulson, and Red Hulk are not some kind of arcane lore that only intense comic book fans know about — most of them have appeared in kid-focused cartoons like "Avengers Assemble", "Ultimate Spider-Man", or "Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H", not to mention kid-focused video games like "LEGO Marvel's Avengers".
Also, the minifigures are just one part of the appeal of any LEGO set, even in a character-driven theme like Super Heroes. A lot of kids will enjoy these sets just because they have a cool jet plane, or a robot and a flying car, or a giant-size ATV and trike. You could swap the characters out for characters from any franchise, familiar or unfamiliar, and there are still kids who would enjoy them just by virtue of being buildable, playable plastic toys.
I guarantee you that with every single one of these sets, far more copies will end up in the hands of kids than in the hands of adults.
I really hope that the Ms. Marvel figure comes with regular arms as well as the crazy long ones.
Really the only one of these that I want is the Detroit steel strike, and MAYBE cap's jet.
(Edit:) My dream is that they would make sets loosely based off of the Marvel Netflix series, But alas that is all but impossible.
@legoavenger14 I'll be surprised if we ever see another Deadpool minifig/set. As others have stated, I believe there are no specific rights issues as long as Lego can brand it as a comic version and not a specific movie version (like the X-Men sets), but given Lego's child-friendly mandate, I believe the Deadpool movie makes him an unattractive option now.
Obviously the character hasn't changed since the original Deadpool Lego appearance (there were "R-rated" Deadpool comics long before that set and before the film), but the movie has elevated his profile as a violent, R-rated character. I don't think Lego wants that kind of association with its toys.
^ I don't think the power blast is supposed to be load bearing. It seems to be a spring-fire play feature that snaps out of the minifigure's hand.
It's funny that in the official LEGO system, stressing pieces isn't allowed, but both the power blast piece and the minifig hand from which it's shot are under rapid tension-compression forces if the PB works the way I imagine. I wonder how many shots are required to break a PB piece or hand. One thing's for sure: I won't be testing it on one of my minifigures to find out!
I agree with people who think Detroit Steel's weapons look a bit silly. I think I'll build my own weapons based on the ones in the Lego Avengers game.
@Jedijon
@Anchor
Thats a fine theory and all and I don't think I can best Anchor's comment because it was so well worded but I know personally I want new minifigures! If you love are particular theme and they don't come up with cool new characters you'd have kids with many duplicates and that would be no fun. In the old days they would fill the sets up with bank robber 1 and bank robber 2 and the like, but I know I much prefer this. Its much more fun plus it may get kids into the extended universe. I'd much rather have an obscure superhero then an extra random girl in a cute sweater to be saved for sure.
Kamala Khan is a MUST have. One of the best new Marvel comics characters!
Also, no body noticed that Hulk and Red Hulk are actually different sculpts and not just a recolor? Kudos to Lego for making the effort.
@cinemajay: Technically both Hulk and Red Hulk are recolors, just not of each other. Hulk is a recolor of the older Hulk design used in the "Avengers" and "Avengers Assemble" sets, while Red Hulk is a recolor of the newer Hulk design used in the "Avengers: Age of Ultron" sets.
I'm surprised to see LEGO still using the old Hulk molds, since I'd have expected it to be retired once the new Hulk molds were introduced. It's a bit weird seeing the molds side by side in the same set since it means Hulk has molded toes and Red Hulk does not. But I agree, it's nice to have the two characters use different sculpts.
COULSON! LOLA! COULSON! LOLA! COULSON! LOLA! *deep breath* Whew. Got that out of my system.
Seriously, I never thought I'd see the day Lego made a set based off Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D at all, let alone Lola. (Now I want Skye/Daisy/Quake and Agent May minifigs.)
As to the other sets, I like the 2x2 tiles with the Captain America Shield printing. Lots of possibilities for Cap-themed MOCS there.
Am I the only one who thinks a playset would have been better than a vehicle set for Hulk vs. Red Hulk? They could have included so many exploding play features... (I'll still try to get the set, but mainly for She-Hulk and some of the pieces.)
OMG! Ms Marvel Kamala Khan (the one with weird tubes for arms) is one of my favourite superheroes.
