Christmas Build-Up: Day 7
Posted by TheBrickPal,
Happy seventh day of December, everyone! We are officially one week into both the month and the Christmas Build-Up.
Crack open the box today and you'll encounter a cute little airplane model to make. Not Christmassy? Think again! The light on each wing has the traditional festive colors of green and red. There is also a bright red tail fin and each side is striped with blue in-between each of the 1x1 translucent windows.
Overall - 3.0 - A wonderful LEGO representation of similar real life craft, and it looks good from all angles. I wonder where the plane will take us to tomorrow... metaphorically, of course.

I think it is also referencing the fact that many people travel around this time of year, often on aircraft.
... but almost all Lego aircraft have red and green lights on their wing-tips or rotors?
I like how the fuselage has used the alternating 1 x 1 pieces to give the impression of a line of windows. That's cool.
@Zordboy that might be because all real aircrafts have this as well (or should have it)...
I agree that this is a very cute little plane, which is really well designed given the number of parts used
Planes and ships all carry Red and Green navigation lights - Red = Port/Left Side and Green = Starboard/Right Side. Still Xmassy colours though.
Another good thing to this is: You don't have to destroy the nice fireplace!
A nice little plane, and another vehicle - although you can't build it at the same time as the boat without extras.
Extra pieces needs for the plane (keeping all previous models intact):
2x Transparent Plate 1x1 (although there is a spare 1 in the box);
1x Bright Red Roof Tile 1x1x2/3
1x White Left Plate 2x3 W/Angle
I never said real/LEGO aircrafts don't have them - I just said that the colors are a subtle way to connect an airplane to the holiday theme. Mrlegoguy1200's idea works, too!
One of my favourite models of the Set so far!!!
Thanks again CoffeeBrickMan ;) you have been outstanding!
Yes, CoffeeBrickMan is providing an excellent service by pointing out the extras needed. This is a daily chore that I do (and enjoy!) so my daughter doesn't have to take the preceding models apart. Thank you!
Also, I really like the airplane and the sail boat. I think these could be used as 'toys' for Lego children in my Winter Village display. I'm not a big fan of the animals created thus far in this set. I know some like them, but it's just not my thing.
red and green are standard international aviation and naval colours for port and starboard (left and right) respectively. it's not meant to be christmassy but sure lol the coincidence works haha
