Definitely the Ford GT's, best of the bunch. Mercedes and Bugatti look pretty cool too.
Ok, definitely getting all of them
Also, is it just me or is the fxx k the first Car to appear backwards on a box?
Neat.
The Mercedes F1 set is just so totally wrong. Otherwise, epic wave again. Speed Champions is really bringing in the goods.
The Bugatti looks all wrong, way too tall.
The green on the Mercedes F1 team doesn't look right either - they should have brought back Teal for that.
(Hi Mark ;- )
I share the same opinion on the Mercedes F1 set.
The cars should be silver/teal instead of grey/green.
I love this theme because I have zero interest in it and do not even buy the sets on discount. Always good to have at least one theme you can completely ignore. :)
Still too many stickers. But that aside, gosh, these are lovely sets.
Time to complete the previously available sets before buying these ones :)
Love the Bugatti and the development center (even if, as Duq stated, the bugatti is too tall)
A lot of people knocking the Merc F1 set, but personally I think that is going to be the best one if you consider what Lego is actually meant for - playing with. It has 2 cars, it has track elements, a garage, podium, TV studio/interview area. I can see kids acting out a whole race weekend with just that one set. Most 10 year olds are not going to care if the shade of green is quite right or not. I like it, I like the whole wave to be honest.
The FXX set has a dyno! Is that a LEGO first? A must buy right there! Love the Ford GTs as well.
Why is there a hotdog vendor in a Formula One set? Honestly.
Want an Aston Martin set please Lego, other than that the sets look great
@kibble ... because who doesn't love hot dogs?
GT's and the SF16-H for me. Does anyone else like the uniformed figures more than the cars in a lot of cases? (And that isn't really a knock on the cars)
^^ The real question is, why wouldn't there be? ;-)
Best Speed Champions line yet!
That Bugatti looks fantastic.
@kibble
F1 fans need to eat too, you know!
The Brickfan site says these images are courtesy of an anonymous fan. Does that mean they are leaked? If so, should they be on Brickset? I once posted a scan of the Caterham 7 taken from a Lego store leaflet (ie a public source) and it was promptly removed. Not complaining, just trying to understand the image policy of Brickset...
@Michel W They aren't leaked. They are public and can be found on Sinqel.com which is an online toy shop.
They are also in the German catalogue linked to in the elves box article.
The caterham 7 image was probably removed because we knew that an official reveal was imminent.
I still can't get over how good that AMG GT3 looks. It looks just like the real thing.
I want them all!
what is the status of, 75880: McLaren Road Car?
I see it is still listed as a 2017 set but no info has been revealed for it (also it is tagged Mercedes, though named McLaren)
@gallardoLU
It's probably been created just to fill the empty set number, and may not be an actual set
Definitely like the Mercedes F1. Just like the real Petronas F1's!! Mercedes definitely has my favorite here. Curious about the Street McLaren too. Lol
Gallardo there is a Mercedes McLaren. It's that 600,000$ SLR McClaren they had for years before the AMG came out. That car too was right up there with best in its days including McLaren F1, and Ferrari Enzo. That's also before Pagani even began to rise up. Their biggest car at the time only cost 300,000$.
I would buy a speed champions mcmerc slr
I'm well aware of the Mercedes SLR McLaren, but I discounted it as being the car in reference since it hasn't been made in 7 years (and debuted 14 years ago) so it's not likely to be the car in a new set.
I was more interested in if anyone knew if the set was dropped (making 2017 the smallest wave of cars) or if was still pending and we might see it closer to the release of all of the sets.
@Mrjay17, respectfully there is nothing that I can say will ever equal the McLaren F1. what it achieved in the 90s was something awe-inspiring. it had been more than 2 decades since a road car turned race car had won Le Mans outright. and it's the only car to do it since Ford won with the GT40s.
and sure there are road cars faster than it now, and that do everything better than it did, but it's been 20 years and it still could compete with the best cars on the planet, and given the right driver win too. the P1 is phenomenal, but the F1... it's the stuff of legends, and it is real.
(I may be a little passionate about the F1 :P )
Funny, when I put in feedback on the Mustang; saying they should do a GT/GT-40...I didn't think they were going to do either, let alone BOTH...happy happy, JOY JOY:)
And agree w/the first feedback: the Mercedes and Bugatti look amazing as well...now I just gotta start imagining 'weaponization', and drag out my old Car Wars/Gurps Autoduel games...:)
Not an expert on the Speed Champions line, but are the contrasting spokes and rims on the AMG a new thing?
@Astrobricks, the rim colors are more dramatic this year, but the insert and rim not matching isn't new (Porsche set 75912 had dark, and light grey the first year) and if you look close the Ford GT set, and the Mercedes F1 set both have double color rims this year too.
