The S17 minifig you are most excited about is...
Posted by Huw,
Last week we asked you 'which series 17 minifigure are you most excited about?" Over 4800 of you responded, so thank you!
The winner is Rocket boy, with just a handful of votes more than the Retro Spaceman.
You can view a graph showing the full results after the break. It's interesting that there are four figures that are way ahead of the others, including the mystery figure.
LEGO has still not revealed its identity which is rather unfortunate because when it does so the announcement will be something of a damp squib: the figures are now being sold in LEGOLAND Billund and purchasers have posted pictures of it all over the 'net already.
I'm still not at liberty to reveal anything about it but I'm sure you won't have too much trouble finding pictures on sites that have not been asked to keep it a secret until the official announcement. I suspect that when you see it you'll think 'Is that it? What was all the fuss about?' and if we ran the poll again it would slip right down the results table.
Rocket boy is indeed a cool figure and I suspect the grey classic space torso did it no harm. There are not too many surprises in the results, although I perhaps would have expected the gladiator to have been higher given its potential for an 'army builder'.

This is rather disappointing. Hot Dog Guy had so many new pieces and was really useful. Same for Gourmet Chef and Connoisseur was funny and cool.
I really don't know whats so good about costume figures. Some are good but they are not all that useful in a diorama setting (like a Lego city), and other figures (this is for all the series) are just better looking and have more interesting pieces.
I hope the reason Connoisseur was not higher on the list was not just because he is a stereotype.
I would love to see more polls such as this in the future!
I mean really! Did no one notice the arm printing on the surfer? I honestly can't remember the last time I saw more detailed printing on a non-liscenced figure. And he has the best surf board so far. I just don't get what's so appealing about the costumed figures. They seem to be effectively useless. Simply ridiculous.
To all those saying "I don't get it" remember that there are a lot of Classic Space AFOLs using Brickset so that torso probably won a lot of votes. In fact I'm just a fan of costumed figs but the torso on that one just made it beat out the corn cob guy.
This one I can sort of see for the torso, plus the rocket can sort of be used as a stand/alone accessory.
But, I generally don't get the obsession that certain markets (*cough*USA*cough*) have with costumed figures. The only ones I liked were the ones I could repurpose, e.g. Gorilla Suit Guy and Lizardman. The others... are either not useful at all, or can be used as solitary figures for very specific dioramas. Give me army builders any time...
I didn't vote for this figure. But: if you buy collectable minifigs for, well, collecting them, I can perfectly see the attraction of these costumed figures. They are fun, stand out, are elaborate, unusual (and easy to find when feeling for them :). So, I don't think there is much to 'understand' here in terms of usefulness, versatility, or applicability for several scenarios.
I just happened to see a real picture of the Highwayman on Instagram. Yeah, he is not PotC figure or anything super special... but he is still a fairly nice figure! He has a new cape and two Pear Dark Gray flintlock pistols. He's mainly dressed in black and he has a small black Ninjago scarf over his mouth.
PS. I'm 100% sure it wasn't a hoax image!
A mystery figure? Utterly pointless.
The Elf girl would make a great Zelda minifigure if it had a golden bow now that I think about it, glad to see the Hot Dog Guy ranked so high in the list.
I still love the highwayman.. His prints are amazing and I love the cape pieces!
Not a surprise that the rocket boy won, I had a feeling he would be popular! :)
Please do more polls like this in the future!
4809 responses, wow that is amazing!
Mystery figure you're not allowed to reveal even though it's on sale?
I think that's what you call a 'Turpin move'?
My guess is Rocket Boy did so well because of that classic Space torso. For one, that's why I voted for him :P
My pick was Hot Dog Guy for all the new and useful pieces, although I do see the appeal of Rocket Boy. He will make for a great Trick-or-Treat kid. Might be tough for him to do a lot of walking in that costume though... "Take tiny steps Timmy, lots of tiny steps!"
I found what the highway man looks like, so I will review it soon on Brickset.
Why did you put the poll up now when nobody knows what the mystery figure looks like??? He could be the best on and be no.1, I'm surprised he got 13% when nobody doesn't even know what he's gonna look like?
Why do people get upset about poll results? They have no effect on what gets produced, sold, etc.
I'm just glad I didn't waste my vote on a mystery Minifig that turned out to be fairly unimpressive.
It was pretty easy to figure out the mystery figure long before anyone revealed it. I'm just curious why it was made mysterious.
I love the costumed figures. I don't do dioramas, but both my kids and I love to play with those figures the most. So I'm really happy to see LEGO doing more of those :D
Could someone please explain to me why the highwayman was a mystery figure?
I'm not complaining about the figure itself, and I'll probably get him to fit in with some of my pirate stuff, but why?
PofC would have made sense as a goofy movie tie in.
Why not then have made Rocket Boy the mystery figure? The shape would have been hard to guess and it would have been a cute surprise companion figure with the retro space dude.
I don't get it. Someone please explain...
Has anyone found any of these for sale in the US yet? Pondering a drive to the Lego shop this weekend...
I want the Dennis Moore figure! But he should come with lupins.
I found two cases of these at my local Wal-Mart today, and purchased two. Ended up with Corn Cob Guy and the retro-'80s fitness gal.
