These look awesome!!!
Why are there 2 vacation Garmadons though??
Update: fixed
^ There are 3 versions of Garmadon, including yesterday's volcano pyjama variant.
They all look amazing. I love the Zane Hill Walker.
Wow, 3 Garmadons in one series. And is that a 3x3 tile?
Oooh! I like the references to The LEGO Movie and TLBM! Great figs. I like the variety here.
is that AC/DC in some ninjago letters? :P
Holy heck, 3 Garmadons in one series???? Also, love the Unikitty and Batman refrences to the previous LEGO movies. And that Cole at the top looks SO MUCH LIKE RODRICK from Diary of the Wimpy Kid. (The good one, not the new one...)
I would guess it's a 2x3 tile, just looks a bit distorted in the image.
@nicola80 yes it is!! :)
Love some of the printed torsos (Zane's jumper). Why GIT on the scientist's top though? Ruins it.
Too many Garmadons for me (and I read there is another set due out in December called, Garmadon, Garmadon, GARMADON! so I guess he's a very big character in the movie?). Not that interested in the warrior figs, I just like useful civilian parts.
N-POP girl is my favourite minifig EVER.
N-POP is well groovy! Love her hair!
This has been more than confirmed in my eyes that the Ninjago culture is taken from the modern Eastern Asia culture and more specifically, the Japanese. Question, are there text of ninjas in the Chinese culture as well?
The first one should be: AC DC Fan
I don't know why... but I feel disappointed.
At least there aren't as many that I'm interested in from this batch, though I do really like the first 4 and will likely get multiples.
That black hairpiece has to be one of the coolest ever.
Cole looks... different. Not in a bad way, though. A little disappointed by Lloyd and Garmadon, but I get it, as it provides a cheap way for kids to get the protaginist and antagonist. Like all the other ones though!
OMG I want the M POP girl so badly!
La-Loyd????
I can happily pass on most of this series. The noodle bowls from the last batch were great, though.
Just testing my knowledge here: the picture Garmadon is holding reads "home", right?
Man, Cole is so rad!
Oh I see they included Lloyd's hairpiece too, nice. :)
6 minifigures of these are a must have for me. Cole (much better hairpiece) Shark army angler, Shark army Octopus, gong and guitar player, sushi chef and Shark army great white. The rest are great but Lloyd, Garmadon and spinjitzu training nya are to common especially Lloyd! Only one exclusive print on a 2 x 4 tile...
N Pop looks gr8.
unikitty torso is the standout for me!
First I've ever heard of "GIT" being slang! Back to the English English vs. rest-of-the-world English!
@Exetrius yes! I am pretty sure about that.
This is the week of the Lego Ninjago movie news!
I like how all the ninja are in their normal clothes; perhaps this is how thye looked before they became ninja???
Why are there 3 Garmadons?
I'm actually sad that they didn't use Cole's hair piece from the Temple set. The minifigs were the thing that attracted me most to that set. Though it is nice to get even another new hair mold...
I never got into Ninjago, know nothing about it really, beyond the trailer for the movie. But having seen the trailer, and now seeing these minifigures, these are a must.
I was assuming "Git" as in the character is a programmer. Maybe I'm missing something.
Absolutely loving the one with the Unikitty t-shirt.
Interesting seeing these after yesterday's Ninjago cipher article and being able to confirm that the t-shirt does say AC/DC. I guess Lego was wanting people to crack the code after all.
Honestly after the LEGO Batman Movie Minifigures and the sets we've gotten for the Ninjago Movie, these are a bit disappointing to me. I was exacting a bit more. The only figures I really want to collect are a couple of the Garmadons.
Ha, Cole has an ACDC shirt? I though he liked soft rock?
Anyone know the price?
Love the references to the other lego films. Thanks for the update Rex!!
These are brilliant through and through.
Another great wave, although I've gotta say I was more impressed with yesterday's release. There's not as many must have minifigures in this wave but I'll still have to get 1) Cole - that boombox is really cool, is that a new mold? 2) N-POP Girl - she's just too cute, and the teddy bear puts her over the top. 3) GPL Tech - a lab coat with Batman t-shirt underneath is awesome! 4) Zane - I'm loving the retro video game sweater. 5) Shark Army Angler - that angler fish hoodie would be great for a wacky Halloween costume.
I really like Garmadon's staff.
I hope i'll get him and Lloyd in his hoodie.
Really good minifigs!
Guys....guys....this is an amazing lineup. You can now get all of the ninja hairpieces with just the minifig line. To be honest some of the best looking mini figures in the entire wave are right here. In fact after looking at this line of mini figures, it becomes clear that what will drive the sales for the actual movie sets are the excellent models themselves, not the minifigures selection as much. For example there doesn't seem to be any exclusive must-have mini figures in the fire mech set, but the model itself is beautiful. This is how you sell LEGO products imo. My guess is they will see a lot of success with this wave.
The LEGO Ninjago Movie is one of the most robust, most detailed, and most entertaining waves I've seen in the last 30 years. Looking forward to the movie even more now! One question remains: what is the release date on these minifigures? August 1 like the sets?
There are a few I like, but prefer the ones from the batch revealed yesterday much more. I am not a fan of the new Cole (he looks cool, but he doesn't look like Cole). And the "Flashback Garmadon" gives me hope that my theory yesterday about young Misako might actually be true! I guessed that maybe that version of her appeared as a flashback in the movie when her, Wu and Garmadon were all young. Anybody? Anybody?
^ yea but we don't have young wu... or old misako. But I am still hopeful!
@Lordmoral - "Ninjago culture is taken from the modern Eastern Asia culture and more specifically, the Japanese. Question, are there text of ninjas in the Chinese culture as well?"
No. It's a Japanese word that literally means "stealthy one", derived from "ninjitsu" (the art of stealth). I'm sure there were assassins & similar mercenaries in China too, but would be called by a different name. Ninja & Samurai are exclusively Japanese. Kung-fu and many other martial arts are from China, Taekwondo from Korea and others from still other East Asian countries. But yes, Ninjago culture (as well as the made-up Ninjago writing system/cypher) is without a doubt primarily taken from Japanese influences, which makes since considering the origins of "ninja", but is a mishmash of other psuedo-Asian cultures and languages too.
What's odd to me is that Master Wu (even if you call him "Sensei") seems much more Chinese in his appearance and influences than anything else. And he's voiced by Jackie Chan in the movie, a choice I'm not super keen on.
Also, I'm pretty sure Garmadon is Canadian.
@peter1999 The ninja are undercover in this movie, so those are their secret identity's clothes that they wear in their normal lives when not on missions. Like Clark Kent/Superman.
If the Garmadon body comes in 2 pieces, the top piece might become a popular size for minifig children.
Considering how we got so many Batmans with the last movie Minifigures wave, I can excuse 3 different Garmadons :P
While I'm not a Ninjago collector, can see myself definitely picking up one of the GPl Tech's... heck, Laptop and a Batman shirt?
Also the various Shark Army characters are rather cool and I'll have to grab the set of them.
? Anyone seen the actual package color? It doesn't really look white to me. I pre-build my CMF frames based on color of package for that series? Want to get this frame ready right away. Very excited even though the only Ninjago themed set I have is the Temple of Airjitzu.
Garmadon, garmadon, GARMADON? Please let it be a joke...
Love N-pop girls wig.
Coles hair piece and ghetto blaster..
And kai kendo, s wig too.
Top job lego.
I hardly know anything about Ninjago but the minifigure series look so good.
Big fan of the octopus fig, angler fig, zane, and Garmadon.
As someone who has really enjoyed the Ninjago cartoon and sets with my kids, I have been skeptical about this whole "The Lego Ninjago Movie" enterprise, but these CMFs and Ninjago City have won me over.
Take my wallet, Lego
@Haz: The top half of the Garmadon minifigures is a separate piece that fits over a minifigure neck, so legs cannot be attached to it.
As yesterday, I were not interested in Ninja Go before this CMF series, but now, I really love some of them. In this second wave:
- Cole: great hairpiece, another casette and if, as a lot of people say, in the T-shirt AC/DC is written, that would be awesome.
- GPL Tech: a good torso, with the Batman T-shirt under the jacket. And another personal computer available.
- Zane. Good new hairpiece, a new bag, recycled from the hikking man of series 16, and a fantastic torso!!
- Garmadon minifigures: They are different, two torsos together. Interesting but difficult to display in common scenes. However, I will get them.
...and finally, the best minifigure of the Series: N-POP GIRL (in capital letters!!!): What an awesome minifigure: the hairpiece of Harley Quinn, but more colourful, another teddy bear to complete the collection (till the momento they are five from CMF series), another ballet "tu-tu" to add to the collection (after the ballerina and Batman minifigures)....but what makes the minifigure so special are all the colours it has!!! I will pick up as much as possible!!!
and the shirt with Uni-kitty...that is superb!!
Loving these so much!
Loving this series too, if only Lego friends would have the same minifigs as Lego, (they CAN, just look at N-Pop Girl)....they will do even better...I for one will get sets from Lego Friends if only.......sigh.....just my 2 cents worth Lego...
I just love the shark army villain figures. They look so cool.
It would seem like such a missed opportunity to make that smaller torso piece but not make it compatible as a normal child torso that attaches to legs. Here's hoping it's actually some kind of clever mold that can do both (or maybe using an intermediate piece?). Especially considering it looks like there might actually be two new molds there...one with the armor part that extends farther down the front.
It's actually surprising TLG have not made a child torso yet.
@Roobot: The torso used for most of the Garmadons seems to be the same as the one originally used for his four-armed version in 2012 (just flipped backward so that the textured side is on the back and the front can be printed). Only the "armored version" with shoulder pads seems to use a new torso piece. Frankly, I don't think it'd be a good size for children anyway, considering the short legs are already designed to sort of "merge into" the torso (with the lower part of the torso sort of filling the role the hips of a normal set of legs would for adult figs). Combined, the result would be a figure whose head was a third the height of their body (even more with hair), but with arms the same length as an adult fig (probably dragging on the ground at that length).
Shark Army Octopus
Shark Army Angler
AMAZING!
I think the reason why LEGO went ahead and gave us all of the ninja and some other main characters is because with the Lego Batman movie sets, you got Batman in almost every set, so they put in more creative versions of Batman in the minifigure series. It can be hard to get all of the ninja if you have a tight budget and the ninja are spread out in all of the sets, so they put them in the collectible minifigure series.
Wow. Garmadon's hair. Now we know. Good choice Misako.
Cole looks like Rodrick, Jay looks like a socially akward kid who gets beaten up at school, Kai looks like he's been hurting himself while trying to fight with sticks, and Zane looks like a nerd; I LOVE IT!
I hope they don't do the minifigure images like this from now on. :/ I don't like it when they're standing in the bag as much
Ooh K Pop Girl - Korean influence is obviously present, as this comes straight out of K Pop territory - and I thought the Ninjago city looked a little Seoul-ish with it's neon and tech. N-Pop is a simple enough retread for Ninjago-Pop. Wonder whether she has her own version of Everything is Awesome?
I love all the civilian versions of the Ninja - they're almost exclusively in their fighting outfits in the boxed sets so it's a good incentive to get something different.
The only thing that irks me a little is the raised population of 20 in the series. I can't display the Disney or Batman Movie series in traditional displays and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't miss 4 of these. I would cut out the armoured Garmadon, Guitar player, Ninja Lloyd and Kendo Kai immediately. I don't think anyone would miss them but then we'd have an even higher calibre series of 16.
The shark army headpieces are amazing!
I like the GPL Tech, too - and I think that's as close as I've seen in minifig hair to my current hair, so I may need to Bricklink that...
@catwrangler The tech hairpiece appears to be a reddish brown recolor of https://brickset.com/parts/4581313/mini-wig-no-9. It has never appeared in reddish brown before, only white, grey, and, most often, dark brown.
Is that Unikitty on her shirt?
