I think the set looks absolutely incredible, with an exceptional level of accuracy and detail throughout. I had high expectations but this is still a very pleasant surprise from my point of view!
Let us know what you think of the set in the comments.

WOW
Cant believe I am saying this but £650 is not bad.
Same size but way more details!
Amazing!
Need pics
Do they accept kidneys as a payment method?
$800. The sad thing is that's a steal compared to what the greedy s.o.b.'s wanted for retired 10179
A thing of beauty
I dare don't ask what the ridiculous price will be in Australia.
If you live in the UK, pricing wise you have won the lottery
UK are coming out well given the currency rate at the mo...
I'm so relieved it has an interior!!!!!! Take my money!!!!!!
A thing of beauty but the price makes me proud that i don't buy these sets.
Australian price will be $1299
£650?!
... a million voices suddenly cried out...
Porgs!!!
Where's old Luke? I have to wonder which set will he appear in, maybe a UCS Star Destroyer?
@Jojjixx: why would they include old Luke in the falcon? It makes sense it's just the two crews.
It's awesome that they're making it interchangeable with two crews, honestly. Everyone's happy! And it has an interior! And the exterior looks so much more polished than the original! And it...costs a quarter of my whole collection. Hmm.
33 inches long. Dare I say it's TOO BIG!!
It's just funny how many people are trying to rationalize spending $800 (or whatever in your country)
And it still has a stickered information plaque :/
Great UK price! Shame no ROTJ crew. Also, what do we have to spend to deserve an updated chrome C3PO?
£650? For that price I could buy two Ninjago Citys instead and have more pieces, more minifigs and £130 left over for another modular.
It's beautiful! :,)
WOW
Can't wait to buy this beauty!!! At last!!!
Guess I'll have to fast-track my British citizenship...
Alright. Who's got enough VIP points in stock for this?
Porgs?!?
Wonder what all the people who stockpiled loads of the old UCS Falcon to sell at insane prices are gonna do now, this basically outclasses that in every possible way.
Holy Brick, this is awesome, £649.99 is quite reasonable for a set of this size, WOW
$ 800.00???
Also for this amount of moolah, I think LEGO should have incorporated LEDs or something for the lightdrive thingy in the back. I'm sure MOCs will add it, but that's something that would have definitely made it better than the other versions.
Just as well I like beans on toast.
we all know there's going to be that one guy who spends $800 on this just for the porgs.
Why was your front page picture taken by a potato?
Re. the set, it looks excellent. :) A definite purchase, though not day 1 - waiting for a double VIP points weekend for sure.
Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaah!!!
I did not realize how big it was till I watched the video. That thing is GIGANTIC!
I will be waiting for meadowhall to open on the 14th cant wait
Bye bye old UCS MF !
Dare I say it...
A sexy Lego set?
PORGSSSS!!!
Nice but abit steep at £649..99
If it was the same price as the helicarrier in sterling pounds then count me in.. You, d have to sell your car or season ticket or the missus to buy one lol..
Going to have to get this day one - missed out on the original in my Dark Age. Will have to blow my whole years budget but what the hell, it's the UCS Falcon!! £649 is much better than i expected though!
What a piece of junk. It's glorious :)
Sold! Was on the fence until I saw the interiors, day 1 purchase VIP points making it just under £600 will make it just that bit better psychologically speaking.
$800?????
impossible
Totally cool, gonna buy it for sure!
I'm not going to buy this - I'm not going to buy this - I'm not going to buy this.
If I keep repeating it, will it be true?
Think it's amazing, love how the guys in the designer video are so excited and sharing like inside jokes. There's even a Mynoc.
Don't think I can spend that much money on one set though, unless it's available for a while and things change money wise. curious what the price will be in Belgium.
$900!
Interesting how the brickset page for this set says 'Re-released version of 10179-1'
Why does it say episode VII and VIII, surely it is episode V and VII - or do the Porgs make it ep VIII also? and is that spoiler that Porgs are on the Falcon?
Great ship, but for $800 they should have thrown in about 4 or 5 more minifigures IMO.
Sorry about the blurry image issue. I'm away atm and Chris has been at the Disney launch event in London so has been struggling with Wi-Fi at train stations.
It's just the cached version that's causing problems now so it'll sort itself out in good time.
Why does it have to be €849 in NL................
It really is a beautiful set, and an appropriate update to the old UCS. That said, finally seeing this beast unveiled, I am quite happy with my 10179, and will probably still save for this, but no longer feel any pressure to pick it up immediately.
"stud-firing bowcaster"? Nooooooo...
This looks like it will have options for power function placement. I put a batter box, and lights connected to the engines and the headlights and cockpit on my MF. I hope this has those plans in the instructions. Maybe even a mechanism for lowering and raising the ramp.
I missed out on the OG UCS. Waited 10 years and can say the wait was worth it. Day one for me. Now just have to start collecting up for the Death Star Hanger Bay.
Holy carp! The 800.00 price tag rumors were true. The price/piece ratio isn't bad, but it's been much better on the biggest Lego sets. A 700.00 price would be more reasonable. It does look fantastic, both the exterior and the couple of interior rooms. I'll probably be pulling together Christmas and birthday funds, and selling organs on eBay, to pay for it. Maybe I can sell my car, it'd only take an extra 4 hours/day to get to/from work by bus... I just wish it had the full interior! Although if it did it would have been closer to 10K pieces and cost over 1000.00, so I'd have only wanted it that much more and been able to afford it that much less, so it's a mixed bag. Any way you look at it though this thing is simply awe inspiring.
As awesome as this looks I think I'd rather have an Old Fishing Store and two Ninjago Cities for $50 bucks cheaper and 4,242 more pieces. I feel like they skimped on the minifigure selection compared to the $400 dollar death star with tons more minifigures. Once again though, awesome looking set.
Ship is amazing! LEGO listened... improved the exterior and added an interior. BUT...what's the deal with the mini-figures? Porgs! Where is Lando from the end of Empire in Han's vest? Where is Luke after he was defeated by Vader? Where is older Luke from The Force Awakens? While these new versions of Han and Leia are most welcome, where are the printed arms? When can we have a non-red armed C-3PO with printed arms? How about a BB-8 with a printed lighter coming out? Many AFOL are in-it for the minis... While the ship is seriously 5 stars...props to LEGO, the assortment of minis are about 2.5 stars.
um what are porgs?
@muftak - its only a short hop up the M1 to Northern Ireland and £650. At the rate sterling is dropping will be well worth it come October. Never bought a Star wars Lego set but oh my is this tempting!
The price is way too high for the number of pieces. An $800 set should have more like 9000 pieces.; seeing as how there are so many tiny parts also for all the greebling. It's beautiful and I'll be getting one, but man, that's gouging.
I'm really curious to see instructions to take a look at the internal structure.
@SarumanTheWhite New creatures in The Last Jedi. :-)
October is supposed to be Double Points month. If I'm spending $800 on a single set, you can bet I'm not buying it until I get all those extra points.
well sh**. I guess I'm going to have to buy it
They couldn't have included R2-D2, seriously?
Yeah, everyone probably has loads of R2-D2s, but this would've been the most perfect time to FINALLY introduce an R2-D2 with "back" printing. It still bugs me to no end that such a notable character only comes with a blank back.
Anyway, great model, I guess, if you're wealthy.
Lets hope they at least offer double VIP pts.
I looked up what "porgs" are! I'd never heard of them before! They seem like Ewoks 2.0!
(do I sound as excited as most others on this comment board?)
<--- Sadly, this guy still doesn't own a single R2-D2. And wouldn't get one with this set either.
A beauty indeed. But way too expensive for the father I am even talking about UCS... A bit sad to see that pass just in front of me without touching it and look at it on display at home. But glad to have a new dream for my lego collection! I sincerely wish you all who can afford this set much pleasure in building, enjoy each part you connect, and be conscious the "luck" you'll have to handle it (even if you have one member or organ sold away) . Leg godt :)
Dat Mynock doe!
Umm. Might have to give Force Friday a miss now...2 weeks until Falcon Thursday.
That's gorgeous
Ok. Wasn't going to bother but I am now!!
But why is Han ginger?!?!
F*CK! it will be over a 1100$ in norway, i guess il sell a kidney, one testicle and some spinal fluid
also shipping better be free!
Even though I do have the disposable income for this, I simply don't want it. I don't think it's worth a new realm of "UCS Plus" retreads. Pushing MSRPs higher is not a bragging point, and just raises the ceiling for standard prices.
Raise your hand if you'll buy this solely for resale in 10-years...
OK and pictures of TLJ sets are also... Legally available on lego site. But... But 1st September is tomorrow? I must be dumb. For sure.
Wow!!! This is so great. But why do we always have to pay more in Holland than in Germany. I think I'll go to Essen and buy it over there...
I poked around on AutoTrader and it turns out that for for £650 you could get an Alfa Romeo GTV, a Mazda RX-8 or a Toyota Celica, all bona fide, good looking, good handling, reasonably quick sports coupés. Just shows how overpriced this is.
Yeah, sorry. I'm going to be the downer here and say that IMHO the improvements do not justify the price point increase. $600 would have been pushing the envelope, but $800? No way.
I think my wallet whimpered a little when I saw the price.
Maybe Lego does know us better than we know ourselves. I really feel like we've lost our ability to be critical of a set. Maybe it's just because the bigger, the better in the Lego universe? Or maybe we just jump at anything SW? Anything new? But in my opinion, I'm not seeing anything phenomenal about this set for that price point. It's a rehash of an older set, with 4 mini figures, plus as additional crew. It's been represented in both UCS and retail set form, more than once. Yet here we are, again.
I wish more people would think objectively toward something like this. That's a lot of money ($899.99 in Canada) for a singular Lego set.
Anyhow, it would be real interesting to see the sales on this set and the revenue it generates. Only time will tell.
Cheers to those who can swing around this kind of discretionary income.
Lets do some BASIC accounting estimates
In Canada...$899.00 + $116.87 (13% sales tax Ontario) = $1015.87
after (our already 35% (average ,income tax dollars) = $1371.42 of earned income
average person makes 24$ / hour = aprox 57 hrs worked
or you know I could make a mortgage payment on my house and feed my kids,
gonna be very hard to justify this....
So relieved I have £5 worth of VIP points to put towards the cost of this.
Looks like they simplified the landing gear which was one of the worst, repetitive builds from 10179. Beautiful overall but nothing special in the minifig department. You would think for $800... I'm guessing we'll see old Luke in the second wave on one of the more expensive sets. In a few years, the eBay prices on this thing are going to be ridiculous. I have enough VIP points to pay for about 1/6th of this...ugh.
Great! Very cool looking Millennium Falcon too. And for an expensive set, excellent price to part ratio, at 0.106. $800 US though, I will not be buying this.
Ya, I could afford that. Not sure I could afford the divorce though.
Looks great! The interior detail is a welcome surprise.
... I mean, they could have re-released the old Falcon (which was great), slapped a second dish on it so you can swap it out and added fifty bucks to the price ("inflation") and called it a day. Or they could have run a voting contest to ask us which set we'd like to see re-released for the 40th anniversary.
This... I don't get. Particularly when there are so many other sets which could have been modeled. And I'm a little disturbed by the precedent it's setting. Is this really the "ultimate" one... or will there be another one in ten years time for $1000 USD?
I can afford it if I don't mind sleep on the couch for one month, which also means one month w/o xxx.
This set is probably more money, than I've spent on Lego in the last couple years buying on reductions and my collection is worth £5000 + at retail price already.
I am a big Lego and Star Wars fan and I cannot justify the price tag - UK £650? Too much for a revision, is it really worth it? How much actually of a step up is it from previous Falcon sets. I am currently looking at 71505 and taking a couple of steps back, looks basically the same.
This will set a precedent for more expensive sets in the future, try and keep things obtainable to the vast majority. This one will not be on the wish list.
I too lament the lack of Luke, particularly classic Luke; and R2-D2 should be there as well. For this price, throwing in a few more minifigures would have been nice (not including brick-built droids and astromechs, the 2016 Death Star has 23 minifigures!).
As for the model, holy cow. Beauty. I don't have a good sense of how much of the interior is included, but the three rooms shown look fantastic. Glad to see the UK price is only a little more than the US price this time, although other countries might not be so lucky...
Happy that the cockpit seats/fits 4. And I like the enormous box!
Wonder how many each store will get on VIP launch day..
Prices for sealed 10179's are dropping like a rock. I sold mine for $3500 six months back (or so). I checked yesterday and the cheapest was right around $2500 on Bricklink. Today the price has dropped another $500. It makes me wonder how low they'll go...
Just got the all important green light from the wife that I can order this
She said I can have it for Christmas & I said great but I think I'll order it on 14/9 anyway & I'll wait until Christmas to build it.
Shame it's not available to order tomorrow with the x3 points
Just checked the size difference between the old and the new one... They are EXACTLY the same size! :)
Should've had at least ten more figures.
Thank goodness the new cockpit piece is printed - that would be a beast of a sticker.
Happy days, money saved.
Nope. Like other commenters have said, even if I had that kind of money to blow, I can think of soooo many other good ways to spend it, Lego or not.
I'm kinda relieved.
It's so absurdly large and expensive, no need to ever worry about buying and owning it.
A set that seems to be made just for the secondary market.
Wow, I knew it was going to be good; but this is amazing! The original 10179 was already such an elegant design that I didn't think the designers could significantly improve upon it. But looking at these final photos, but textures on the surface are even more accurate to the real thing. Also pleasantly surprised and impressed by the inclusion of an interior.
My only complaint may be that you only get one mynock, and that the minifigures do not have printed arms. Will definitely be trying to get this set as soon as possible. May be my second favorite set of the year after Ninjago City, tied with Destiny's Bounty.
Can I buy from Lego UK and ship to Germany? 649 gbp are 705 eur currently
We Canadians seemed to have gotten the cheapest price...thanks Lego
impossible to watch the entire clip because of that guys fruity voice
Where on earth is R2-D2? We get some bat, but not R2-D2! Ludicrous!! I still might have to get it though..
1. Where are the stud shooters? :P
2. How will Lego Group handle all the kidneys they have at hand? :):):)
Can I just say, I'm so, so glad that this comment section is much more educated than the ones I've found elsewhere. No complaints about the price (generally), no "we just got a Falcon" crap, etc.
@ickleb: Whaddya mean, ginger? His hair is the same brown shade it's been since 2004 (though the piece itself has been updated).
@rolomolo12345: Those are obviously mynocks! Turn in your nerd card at the desk! :P
Coridor stickers looks stupid in set this price.
This is a tough one. I would probably kick myself for passing on it, as I have many of the other UCS Star Wars sets, but this is $100 US more than it should be and they skimped on the figures. If they'd at least included a chrome C-3PO, an old Luke, a sound brick or anything that would make it a bit more special, I don't think I'd be so hesitant. It's a great design for sure, but a missed opportunity for much more than what looks like a ton of generic pieces and standard figures. It's so excessively large that I'm not actually looking forward to building it or trying to find a place to display it; in fact, I'm sort of tempted to buy it but keep it in the box, because the box itself is pretty damn cool. I know myself too well to know that I could not manage to keep in in there for long though and I foresee these parts dominating my table for a long time to come. So yeah, it's pretty cool and I probably can't resist purchasing it since I don't have a UCS Falcon, but I'm most disappointed that the figures are so underwhelming and that Lego succeeds with these steep price hikes. If I end up having to apply a bunch of stickers, I may be asking for my money back.
WOW. As expected, this is an absolute MUST HAVE!
Just may have to wait quite a while til I can afford it at that price! Still, not as expensive as I thought it might be, tbh.
As intriguing as it is, I don’t see much reason to get this if you already have the 10179.
The interior does not really look all that exciting IMHO and the exterior’s improvements aren’t all good - for example, I prefer the original brick-built cockpit because I don’t generally like large, bulky pieces of plastic. Overall though I think the exterior is slightly nicer than the original but not enough. Also, the original has a unique number on a certificate that makes it more special. That is lacking now.
Curious what other owners of 10179’s think (not the resellers, but the fans)....
Bro couldn't learn the correct way to say "Falcon?" Anyway, I really like those hallway graphics and that pop-down gun. Not enough to buy, though. Already have the original UCS Falcon. Instructions are already at ship.lego.com -- I haven't seen that mentioned as yet here.
Well, count me in on this one!!
I remember breaking the seals back in 2007 on a first edition 10179, spreading out 1'000s of pieces (no numbered bags) on the living room floor, and spending a week with my at-the-time 8 year old son building the beast.
Looking forward to numbered bags this time round, and building it all by myself :-) hahaha, might take more than a week though...
A sucker is born every minute, and in this context I'll happily be one of them!!!
Wow, looks great but its like 1100 USD in sweden!?!
This is a BEAUTIFUL model. I mean, just incredible. It's a greebling sensation. I love it. Now, please don't get me wrong, I know that the designers are fantastic and skilled, the interior details are great, the new cockpit canopy excellent, the swapping of elements (like the dish), the overall look is a beauty but I'm sorry, I have to bitch...f-in' stickers on an $800 set. Seriously Lego, this is unbelievable, your most premium set...the best set you've EVER built for the collector's market. This is not for kids (we all know it) at $800 friggin' dollars and you can't have printed the plaque!? Those awesome corridor stickers that give the illusion of depth are great! But c'mon! These are key elements that needed to be printed. This entire set shouldn't have had ANY stickers at $800.
EDIT...Where is Lando and Nien Numb, young Luke (with blast shield helmet) plus lightsaber training droid, R2D2, Obi-Wan? A terrain?
EDIT II...saw the video...there are mynocks (just the one?).
Never seen a so rich detailed Lego set! Amazing
The designer video appears to be going out of its way not to show us the interior - where was the cockpit or the gunnery station interiors? In fact most of the shape and detail was deliberately obscured as the camera refused to move. The interior detail seems to represent 10-20% of the interior space available. The graphic designer was expounding the virtue of his "illusion of depth" in the hallways but those panels are necessary to hide the inaccessible space. Saying that..... it is still a fabulous set.
Gotta have it, must start saving now!
"Credits will do fine."
"No they will not."
" Credits will do fine."
"No, they won't!"
My struggle
650 British pounds equal 704 €. 96 € less than the German price of 799 €. That's ridiculous, even when shipment costs of such a beast are considered...
Looking back I regret spending $250 on Assault on Hoth. However even though it's a lot more money I'm sure I won't regret spending $800 on the Millennium Falcon. I do think it needed more minifigures, but it's not a deal breaker.
Congrats to LEGO for making the original MF look CLUNKY and outdated with those curves and a balance between the studs and smooth surfaces!
To HeroBricks1976 : I can see the same issue with exchange rate betweeen GBP / CZK - in favor of GBP.. make a trip to London and bring back a souvenir :)
They could put a price of $1000 and people would still be saying "first day purchase". Ridiculous
God. This is indescribable and unforgettable. But for crying out loud! Ninjago City has an incredible price to part ratio and I was hoping that might just become the norm for UCS sets now. But NOOOOO, those greedy bastards at Disney NEED MONEY!! Poor Lego Star Wars, you once created a new face to the Lego franchise, and you've fallen so far...
.... A million voices of resellers of 10179 suddenly cried out!!!
A well designed re-release and the price is ok in the Uk atm.. I wonder why they didn't release It for Force Friday so fans could get double or triple points????
If you have 10221 Super Star Destroyer boxed/new you better sell it now!! Lego are re-releasing Older UCS sets on what seems a yearly basis now!! Lego trying to kill the resale market maybe.. Don't think that would be a good idea Lego!! How much Lego do you think resellers buy regularly?? That could be a large proportion of your yearly sales I'm sure...
UCS Death Star 10188 released 2008
UCS Death Star 75159 Re-released 2016
UCS Millennium Falcon 10179 released 2007
UCS Millennium Falcon 75192 Re-released 2017
UCS Super Star Destroyer 10221 released 2011
UCS Super Star Destroyer???
to mrt181: no , you cant. While ordering online the delivery address must be in the same country.
Mynock chewie-ing on my wallet.
Geez! That's spectacular. But how on earth will I convince my parents that it's an "investment"?!?!?!
"The fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy!" ... "made the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs."
Oh I do want this. Was interested to see the UCS TIE Advanced in the background of the video - a new release next year?
Pics... https://shop.lego.com/en-CZ/Millennium-Falcon-75192 but you all probably know that already...
@lippidp - Couldn't find the instructions, please help!
It's days like today that I am glad I am not a Star Wars fan.
But this is one awesome set!
Just thinking how important is the box for me as I am frequently traveling to US so easy for me to bring it back and save ~120 eur. And that box looks magnificent but maybe too chunky to keep it anyway?
As a few others have said, Overpriced. I'm a fan of Lego I mean that explains my being here but I could buy a PS4 pro and a 40inch tv for what this costs.... And that wouldn't collect dust just sitting pretty on a shelf doing nothing.
Amazing!!! The price is going to be a bit of a hurdle though...
Then again, lots of useful parts for re-use. Nice update to the original. Looking forward to the comparison reviews, parts list and instructions.
I will probably end up getting this. The new canopy and bits of interior will be tipping the scale for me. Those were 2 things that held me off from buying 10179.
This is a worthy successor. But that price... I will definitely buy less other sets for a while...
It looks fantastic and it's got to be a day one purchase for me, the UCS Falcon is the one set I really wished I'd bought 10 years ago so this 're-issue' is great news for those that missed out last time. However, for the price I'm a little disappointed by the lack of minifigures (Sandcrawler, Death Star & Ewok Village all had better selections) and could LEGO not have made their most expensive set ever sticker-free? Seriously those corridor stickers look poor.
The next UCS remake is rumored the 10134 Y-Wing.
Leia's new face looks really good, much better than what they had before. On the complete opposite end of the spectrum, Han's new face looks awful.
As much as I like Star Wars and the Falcon, I can't justify spending £650 quid on this..... Oh well, time to take up bank robbery. *Grabs Crowbar and swag bag.*
I have the original, but still getting this one.
This is a big NOPE for me. It does look neat, but my wife & I travel all over the US with an actual works-in-real-life teardrop camper that I built for around $800. $300 or so is the most I will ever spend on a set & that's gotta be one that I really, really want.
Also, I realize this thing is HUGE, but having collected Lego since classic space I'm starting to not take piece count so seriously. Ninjago City is a great set (with like ```12 minifigs!) but if you keep in mind most of the base plate is covered with a double layer of 1x2s (a GIANT cup of which you can get at the store for about $15) as well as a design habit developing of things like using 2 1x4s in a spot where 1 1x8 would suffice me thinks the numbers are becoming a little... umm.. fudgey.
But don't get me wrong, it is really cool looking, so if you're excited about it I'm not trying to diminish.
Canada wins the lottery. CAD $899 = NZD $1001
It will retail for NZD $1500.
NZD $1500 = £830 = CAD $1350 = USD $1075
UK €705
Ireland €800
No thanks Lego, find another mug. That price is ridiculous.
Very , Very greedy ... as was expected
Does this thing look awesome? Yes.
Do I want it? A little (although I'd be afraid of my kids even touching it).
Do I need it? Absolutely not.
Even if you have the disposable income or have saved up for this moment, I just don't see how you can justify spending this much on something that is under the "Kids' Toys - Blocks & Building Sets" category. I'm seriously concerned about my priorities even looking at pictures of it.
I can't believe people are lamenting no inclusion of R2-D2. I think only Luke and Han minifigs have been in more SW sets. R2 has been in over 30 sets and the latest (best) version of R2 is in a few $24.99 sets right now. They could have left out the included "old" version of C-3PO as well in my opinion. Lando and Nien Nunb would have been a Lego homerun, instead, this is just a meh when it comes to minifigs.
UK €705
Finland €899
Seems fair!
All that hype and money for a ship that's already been released several times. Agh, take me back to the 80s and 90s Lego!
@eminate, as we just got a UCS X-wing just 4 years ago, I hope that rumor is false. Unless it is an Ep VII/VIII version.
About 2 years ago I wouldn't have hesitated at saving up for this and buying it. Now I realize my LEGO habit was out of control. This set is amazing and I would enjoy building it, but I have realized that what I buy never delivers what it promises no matter what it is or how bad I want it. I will always be an AFOL but I am happy to let this pass me by.
"concealed blaster cannon"
Did the original UCS MF have this as those three little words made me clap my hands in glee like I belong in Japanese anime. I was already excited being as my return to LEGO was too late for the first and the second hand prices were insane. Thankfully I don't have to justify my actions to anybody so I will be getting this and the only question is can I remain patient enough to at least pick up a few extra VIP points during a promotion or will I show zero willpower.
I actually thought the UKs price would be closer the US one given everything going on at the moment so that was kind of nice. The Canadians seemed to have lucked in though if my conversions are right.
I'm wondering if the LBG Ship rigging will be available for purchase again through the LEGO.com replacement parts market...
I told my mother that there will be a huge lego set, when I showed her this she said "what is that, it is just I pile of gray junk" She wanted a modular building...
What an amazing "piece of junk". Day one purchase allthough I am with legoDad42 at that price there should not be a single sticker. But anyway yes, even at 800 €.
Shame on Lego! Again 50 euro more expensive in the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxemburg than in the the rest of the European Union! Lego gets greedier and greedier :-(
This is how I see it..
You can buy a iPhone for $750
You can buy a laptop for $400
You can buy a Samsung smartphone 8 for $500
You can put a down payment on a car for $800
Or you can forget all of that and spend $800 on this new Falcon.
What do you think?
^^as I said earlier you can buy a full car for that much. And I only took one slice of sports cars...
I wouldn't know where the hell to put it in my apartment. Because of that and the price I'll pass.
A lot of people are going nuts over the price, it's understandable because dishing out $800 (even more in some countries) is really hard to justify, however if you compare that to what sealed or hell even used ones of the old Falcon were selling for as odd as it is to say I think the price tag is actually... not too insane? especially when it's been updated to have interior detailing and some other changes as well.
I'm not going to buy this regardless because aside from not having anywhere to put it the price tag is just way too insane for me to justify it for myself.
$900 CDN!? So glad I'm not a Star Wars fan......
800 bucks is a huge pill to swallow, but as I didn't get out of my dark age until mid 2014 I missed out on a lot of awesome sets. So i will be buying this, hell I'll probably buy 2 of them to keep one sealed. Now do I want to spend that much, no, but will I spend that much, yes.
£650 for a set with stickers,it's a real shame as I would of loved this set but don't buy Lego sets that contain stickers sorry
Well...now to break the news to my daughter that it isn't a UCS Friends set after all. Hopefully, I can at least look a little disappointed.
949 CHF - the most expensive set ever released by Lego.
Lots of grumbling about the minifigs but you don't buy a set with 7500 bricks for the minifigs - it's for building!
Saying that I'm quite happy with the choice of minifigs as the original UCS Falcon didn't come with any remarkable minifigs either. Shame they didn't include Lando and Nien though. You're provided with circular and rectangular dishes but if you leave the dishes off altogether you'd have an Episode 6 Falcon ;-)
Canada did get a bit of a deal....800 US is 1000 CAD today so we're a little cheaper at 900.
Of course, everything else in Canada is more expensive than the US so it's nice to be on the positive end once in a while......
Where to buy in the UK except from Lego? Must ship to Germany.
for that price it should've included more exclusive figures and at least 3 Mynocks
looks neat and all, but there is no way on God's green earth that i would pay $800 for one set (2 or 3 yes but one).
Where's young luke and old ben kenobi?
Here is my plan for this set
Citibank has a 21 month no interest credit card
$799.99 X 1.06 (MI Sales Tax) = $847.99 / 21 months = $40.38 per month.
I am going to buy it during double points days so I will get 1600 points or $80 in rewards.
ELH2806: guess you will saved more by flying to the UK instead. ;)
All kidding aside, I am glad I have no interest in the SW-models other than that I'm glad they saved TLG during my dark ages.
And now I see Sphero has made an RC R2D2 that lives up to their standards - coming out tomorrow. This is going to be an expensive month.
Really? What a surprise!
I find it odd that for the 40th anniversary of the first Star Wars movie they make this ESB themed instead (with some extra pieces for the new movies).
Hi
Does anyone know if the initial sets will have 1st edition certificates?
I purely just want one!
Lego knows what they're doing. Obviously $800 is more than they need to charge, licensing aside. If you believe Disney is forcing them to charge $800 you've been drinking the Kool-Aid. All you need to do is compare City to Creator pricing to see that pricing is driven by what consumers will pay in addition to piece count.
Lego is betting SW fans will pay $800 for a falcon. I think they are correct, though I won't be one. Ninjago City, Destiny's Bounty and Old Fishing Store, please!
I just hoped for a ship that was within a good price but here it is 8500 kroner !!! a lot of money.
I misse the first one and hoped to get this one. But looks im going to skip this also.
Well colour me impressed.
If I succumb to the dark side and manage to persuade myself to get this, the old wants list is going to take a serious culling.
Anything under 1000 pieces will have to go.
My only worry is after building the 'ultimate' set, will anything else measure up afterwards?
Say, I 've just watched the designer's review video. I know there are always good surprises while building a set, but only two interior compartments detailed? Engine section and rest section? Plus a four sits cockpit for quite already seen Minifigs? No I must have mistaken. A detailed interior must be more than that shouldn't it? I really hope it's almost as accessible and complete as the smaller set is. But for the interior matter, must admit the outside looks real really beautiful... *big sigh* shouldn't it be that price tag it's clear it is a must have.
Where to buy in the UK except from Lego? Must ship to Germany.
I was super excited about buying this set since I missed out on the first UCS MF and waited eagerly for the confirmed pictures, but then it all faded away when I saw it contains only 2 exclusive minifigures. Do I really need a bigger 75105 dust collector costing the same as a second hand car? For this price I can buy the UCS Tie Fighter and all TLJ sets with way more cool parts and tons of minifigures.
For all the Aussies out there, you may be slugged import duties (+$$) and GST (+10%) as this is above the $1000 exemption threshold - just to add insult to injury!!
Love it but $1300 AUD. Seriously? That's $400!!! more than Canada. That's a whole lot of Lego difference.
It looks great but its way too expensive for a toy. I personally don't have that much disposable income for lego.
Looks amazing on the outside. But stickers should be a no-go in a set like that.
The minifigure selection is a joke though, right? No one is seriously satisfied with that? ESB Leia is pretty much the only new figure, and I predict she'll come with another Hoth set in the future. The mynock is brick built and therefore easy to replicate. But some "porgs"? I don't understand the porg-circlejerk...they're EVERYWHERE
If they'd put in Lando, Nien Nunb - hm, maybe just fill the entire line-up with exclusive figures - I would have considered getting it sometime in the future.
Meh, who am I kidding, I'll never be able to afford it anyway, let alone find shelf space for such a monster..
If I'm honest, I think my favorite thing about this is the new "illusion of depth" hallway stickers. I can appreciate good graphic design. Well done, Matty.
I wonder how much it'll cost me to Bricklink the extra parts I need to upgrade my 10179?
@Brick't: Keep in mind that they need to make the ship sturdy as well. And in the movies those rooms are really all we see in the Falcon, so I'd say it's plenty.
Could I ask that we dont make comments about the UK price please? When Haunted House came out it had a good UK price and everyone noticed it, then Lego put the price up £20. If the same happens this time, that would add £100 to it!
@legowd19: It's not a toy, it's way too big to play with. It's a set for display. In your man cave. If it fits. So, well worth the money! ;-)
Its now on the Lego site (to add to your wishlist not buy) with a limit of 3 per customer!
I see LEGO has corrected their massive screw up last year (looking at you Death Star). This thing looks glorious though, and I love the fact that the model can be altered. This is absolutely the set Star Wars deserves for its 40th anniversary.
Awesome Amazing great fab ace good the bet I need to think more of awesome things to say about this set it so great!
So... How much is postage to Europe from the UK shop? Cos 100€ less is impressive!
I had missed the 10179 and it's the set I really miss so I'm going for this one even if it's way too much objectively : Too big, too expensive and way too cool
@stecre From the promo video (not the designer video) this is a completely different structure than the 10179. I don't think its a matter of an upgrade, it would be a completely different build.
Also I'm glad I'm not the only one wondering what the f*** are porgs
^my first thought was "pig cyborgs". Obviously, I was wrong.
...or WAS I?!? I guess we'll find out when TLJ is released.
@pmcguire Sorry - false alarm. There is a link for the instructions, but all it does is a search that comes up empty. (I hadn't actually clicked that link earlier)
Missing R2-D2 can be obtained with set 75168-1: Yoda's Jedi Starfighter for 30€ (and you get a Yoda minifigure and a nice ship as a bonus).
Missing Luke and Old Obi-Wan can be obtained with set 75173-1: Luke's Landspeeder for 30€ (and you get the landspeeder and a rat as a bonus).
@HUW I wonder what a poll result would show regarding the cost of such a set. It is likely the most amazing set ever produced but...Is it "affordable"? I agree that the PPP is good but at what point does the masses say " this is awesome but not a reasonable purchase! Or can enough people still in this day in age spend so much on one set?
It is a thing of beauty and a must buy - however, I hope it stays around for while - need to save those pennies at $1300 AUD (and as long as they do not release a new Imperial UCS destroyer soon, as that is the one I really want !)
For the Aussies, Shop @ Home already charges GST on everything you buy so there should be no issues there.
Do I learn how to drive...or do I get this beauty...decisions decisions
Canadian LEGO.com is showing limit of 5!!. Like any normal working person will ever hit that.
I will pass on this. I would love to get it, but not for that price. I will gladly put my money towards finishing the other half of my custom Minas Tirith set.
While beforehand I was convinced that I would buy it, now I have changed my mind. At 8500 Swedish Crowns I can buy so many cool other sets. It would be awesome to own but it is too big for me to display properly and I just can't justify that kind of money for one set
For a set of this magnitude and price (especially), it's a bit ridiculous that they didn't include all minifigures for most (if not all) of the people/droids who appeared on, or more notably, piloted the ship. The Death Star includes three versions of Luke!
EpIV: Han, Chewie, Luke, Ben, Leia, C3PO, R2D2, and Stormtroopers (from the Death Star).
EpV from Hoth to Bespin: Han, Chewie, Hoth Leia, C3PO.
EpV leaving Bespin: Lando, Bespin Leia, Chewie, C3PO (in pieces), R2D2, and Bespin Luke.
EpVI: Lando, Nien Numb, and two Rebel Troopers in Endor gear.
EpVII: Rey, Finn, BB8, Han, Chewie.
Consolidating, and picking only the essentials, you'd have sixteen, twelve of which appeared in two other sets: 75159 and 75105.
1. Han (ANH, appears in 75159)
2. Han (ESB, new)
3. Han (TFA, appears in 75105)
4. Chewie (ANH, ESB, TFA, appears in 75159)
5. Luke (ANH, appears in 75159)
6. Ben (ANH, appears in 75159)
7. C3PO (ANH, ESB, appears in 75159)
8. R2D2 (ANH, appears in 75159)
9. Leia (ANH, appears in 75159)
10. Leia (ESB, Hoth, new)
11. Lando (RotJ, new)
12. Nien Numb (RotJ, new)
13. Rey (TFA, appears in 75105)
14. Finn (TFA, appears in 75105)
15. BB8 (TFA, appears in 75105)
16. Han (TFA, appears in 75105)
The versions from A New Hope are all present in the Death Star, so it's not much of a loss. The Hoth variants are necessary; their scenes are a significant portion of ESB. The Bespin variants would have been nice, but let's hope those make an appearance in a truly fitting set. General Lando Calrissian and Nien Numb could only appear in a Home One set or the Falcon, so it feels like a missed opportunity. The Force Awakens characters had to appear alongside the new radar dish.
I think the set looks great, and while the interior spaces are a welcome addition, they are too few in number and look very cramped. Too bad that LEGO Group couldn't have added the two minifigures from Return of the Jedi, as those would be totally new.
Beautifully set. I own the 10179. I don't think I will get this one (in the same year as UCS Tie, Disney Castle, Ghostbusters building, VW Beetle, Saturn, Fish Store, Minecraft Mountain, Ninjago City and boat, Big Ben, carousel, Assembly Square and many TLMB sets!).
I'm glad to see a re-release of a famous set. I'm against this secondary market phenomenon. For people who missed the opportunity to buy the 10179, it's much more fair to buy this new version of an UCS Falcon than an overpriced 10179 or a Chinese copy. It's better both for TLG and the consumers (and for me: no longer want to be a 'completist', so no pressure to buy this new version).
I'm trying to see Lego like other toys/games : for example Monopoly game: the company is still selling copies after decades, new customers can always find a cheap new copy, no significant overpriced secondary market, no need to buy every version, people not angry when a slightly different version is released.
To shmeg23: That is a very smart plan! and what would you do (being in debt for 21 months) if LEGO releases new UCS Star Destroyer with 6-9.000 pcs next year.. ? take another loan?
Id say, if you dont have that kind of money - dont borrow! There is always something that needs an attention - new fridge, washing machine, car repairs.. etc.
To yo-dabrick: They just forgot to put there a note "buy 2 get one for free" :)
Thanks to finally seeing the pictures, this set is a definite pass.
I never got the original UCS Falcon because I though £375 for a static model with no real interior was a waste of money. I can't say that this one is that much of a step up for all the extra cash.
Also, as this is the 40th anniversary of A New Hope, it would've been better to focus on that Falcon and minifigure selection. The inclusion of TLJ stuff was an instant turn off for me as I have zero interest in it.
The interior looks cramped and almost like they just took sections from previous sets and just shoehorned them in to justify the increase in price. If they were going to make a proper interior, a good look at the cross sections of the Falcon should've given them better ideas.
A reissue of the old UCS Falcon in a Mos Eisley spaceport diorama (even if it was only two sides and a base for display purposes, would've been better than this.
Still, for those of you who have the disposable income for this one, let us know what the build time was :)
The false depth hallway images is basically what they did in the 90's Millennium Falcon ship that fit the action figures. I figured they had to make fairly small interior sections for the structural integrity.
No Lando and Nien Nunb?!
Ok so its just Empire or Force then. Are crew variant packs available?
Awesome set, but AUD$1300 is really too much to pay, price per piece is overpriced. Hope it will be sold at discount in retail shops.
When everyone was still speculating about what this could be I figured I wouldn't want or need it.
Then, when I saw it today, I instantly fell in love - figured I'd spend the next few months saving and buy it around my birthday at the start of 2018.
But having had some time to think on it (and read all these comments) I think it's probably going to have to be a pass from me.
After loving Lego SW as a child, I only just got back into collecting a year or so ago, and in that time bought the 75051-1 Falcon. Although the exterior of this new set is absolutely phenomenal, the lack of interior is a big drawback for me. Also, the limited minifigures, compared to the Endor & Death Star UCS sets feels like a missed opportunity. Give us Lando, give us Nien Numb, Ben Kenobi, Luke, R2!
If I have a spare £650 at any point leading up to my birthday then maybe, but as it stands, I cant justify the price, so I'll just stick with (and maybe modify?) the Falcon I've got.
But those who can go for it? Hope you enjoy! :)
PORGS!!! Finally, Lego Porgs!!! Granted, IMO they look nothing like Porgs, but it's official Lego Porgs!!!!! Yay! Also, the set would be mine except for that price tag. Even though the price per piece is actually quite good, the overall cost is way outside of my price range.
Emrys M, Watch the designer video, there is an interior! It may change your mind...
So it came in exactly as I predicted for us - take the UK/US price then add >30% for New Zealand and Australia.
Can I afford it? Absolutely no question.
Will I ever buy it? Not a snowball in Hell's chance.
My LEGO Slush Fund currently sits at about NZ$15,000 and yet I can't see myself dipping into it any time soon, simply because I absolutely refuse to be crapped on by TLG's price-gouging in our region.
Rebel bomber and KR's Tie are now paid with VIP points x3, Force Friday has begun here. And far too expensive UCS seems a bit less necessary... I'm in haste to receive parcel now! Hope you all will enjoy your purchases.
@jesusloverocks, sorry, I worded that poorly.
I mean more of an interior, especially compared to what's in the 75105-1. I like what they put in this set, but a couple of rooms isn't enough to get me to spend that sort of money, unfortunately.
Anybody got some free space i could live in for a month...i'm thinking September...i promise i will let you help me build it when i get it in October...
Nice, only $900CDN! I was expecting $1000CDN or more considering the current exchange rate. Looks like Canadians get a break on this set, considering $900CDN is about $720USD.
Wonder how many numbered bags the set contains? More than 20?...epic advent calendar possibility!
Sorry folks, I love the Millennium Falcon as a vehicle but the gap is too big in middle transition between curves and airlock sections. I just can not get past that. By making the rest so smooth, it makes the gap all the more glaring. I will stick with 4504 (gaps everywhere) and wait for a new release of a similar sized model with the upcoming Han Solo movie.
The set details pages for this and the old falcon say that this is a rerelease @Huw
Oh, the Australian price is going to be a nightmare.
Edit - wait, it's actually gonna be $1300? Pass. Hard pass. I could buy dozens of sets for that.
Meanwhile, I am over here still waiting for a (worthy) Minas Tirith set.
Noooooooooo! There's no way I'm gonna buy this cos of the price but I have been waiting for that Empire Strikes Back Han Solo figure for ages
@Coson you're right for sturdy structure but I really imagined that such a big thing had much more room and could offer larger interior scenes. It looks like space inside is quite limited when you see the minifigs in it on pictures. Maybe my expectations were too high though when I saw parts count and price point.
What an awesome day. Thank you Lego.
My only dilemma now is divorce or the falcon?
The ship looks perfect. I wish it included a couple more mynocks but really, I have no complaints.
$800 safely saved. Glad this was a Star Wars thing and not something I would have wanted.
Excellent decision to include features from both Star Wars films and Disney's "Star Wars". That generally keeps everyone happy. Personally speaking, I'd have preferred Luke, Obi-Wan, Lando, Nien Numb, and Artoo over Ray, Fin, and BB8, but the set isn't made just for me.
I wonder if I could sell the Disney figures for enough to offset the cost enough to justify it? :)
Oh, wow, I NEEEEEEVER saw this COMING! WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooo could've ever guessed this would be the set they were promoting?
In all honesty, this version just looks sort of unappealing. It's just kind of the same thing but big, really. It's just a really large grey mass with an equally large price tag. I do hope the Porgs aren't exclusive to this, and I'm sure this has tons of detail, but it's just so... meh.
We should all sign a petition, demanding that LEGO grant purchasers of this beautiful, yet overpriced set - that contains far less mini-figures than expected,... the ability to mail-in for whatever our group assigns to be the top 10 missing minis from Episodes IV-VIII that would compliment this build. Captain Rex, help us fight back against the Empire.
@rolomolo12345 R2-D2 was not on the Millennium Falcon during this scene. He accompanied Luke to Dagobah after the Battle of Hoth.
Price in AUD$1300.00!!!!! WTF!?!?!
At the current exchange rate this works out to be USD$1000.00! Even considering the shipping all the way down here in Oz this is at least a couple of hundred dollars more!
Anyone buying this in Oz will need to remember that they will be charged for releasing this through customs and will need to pay at least another 10% in duty/taxes!
Whilst I love this release, $1430.00 will be a little difficult to swallow considering that the rest of the world get it so much cheaper!
Any comment TLG? Another example how we just get absolutely smashed for loving the product down here. Great way to treat your royal fan base! The only advice I have for us fellow Lego fans down here is to make sure you bring your Vaseline as were all gonna need it on this one!
This is probably my 2nd favorite set of the year after NINJAGO City. This is amazing but isn't as pretty, and it's also a remake of another set.
If it was not the biggest Lego set ever made I think I would pass... it is a big piece of junk after all ;) How many years do you think Lego will keep it on shelf ?
It's a shame they had to ruin it with figures from the fanfilms. Think there's any chance I csn sell those four and the rectangle for ~$700?
*jizz*
Too bad the 2X VIP Points are only September 1-3 and this set goes on sale on the 14th. Wish they would be offering 2X points for this set. I know I will be getting this set (have 10179 still sitting in the original box) and want to maximize my value.
Surprises me that the under-carriage is not retractable, not even partially. Considering the limited interior detailing, small space and lack of under-side detailing I'd think that could have been a nice feature of such an impressive large UCS MF.
Perhaps and idea for modification. Lego isn't only about putting together bricks according to building instructions, is it?!
@tjkemperle There will most likely be double points through the month of October as they do every year. Just wait until then to get this set if you want those points so badly.
@Batupintar If you've seen the way the 10179 was built, the interior is almost entirely dedicated to Technic elements that are holding everything (the weight and hinges that allow for the complex angles) together. I'm actually very surprised the designers were even able to incorporate two interior areas this time around.
Hmm...
MF (7541 pcs) for £650?
Or ALL seven The Last Jedi sets (6150 pcs) with £50 to spare
Or Ninjago City, The Temple, Destiny's Bounty and The Old Fishing Store (10614 pcs) with £60 to spare...
Or Ninjago City, The Temple and Destiny's Bounty (8565 pcs) with £200 to spare...
Or MF (7541 pcs) for £650, sit on it for a year and sell sealed for double?
The agony of choice.
But no. Lego is my hobby and not an addiction
And my Wife is priceless :)
Wow, absolutely beautiful. The fact that they included an interior is phenomenal.
WOW, price will take a few months to budget for but this is great!!
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=HA1mbZ_MMh8
I told myself I wasn't goimy to want this... But it's so gorgeous...
Hopefully the Han & Leia won't be TOO expensive in BrickLink... :S
Great set. Will definitely TRY to get one. I only hope it will have better availability than the Saturn V rocket. That has been available for several months now and I think there are still a lot of people that were not able to get their hands on it via LEGO.com. Fingers crossed!
Reading at comments, I feel like we SW fans all agree to say that it's really a beautiful lego set but also that for the price many are somehow disappointed. I wonder what the sells will be eventually. Sure we would all buy it if we had much to spend but that huge price is clearly a pass argument. I'm sometimes crazy with my passion for Lego but not enough for such a spend.
Interesting that it is just named Millennium Falcon. 10179 will always remain the "Ultimate Collector's Millennium Falcon"
What a beauty! On an unrelated topic: porgs before old Luke?
Lego not a good investment thing anymore. Exclusive sets is now buy 2 free 1. So called limited ???? WTF. ZZZbye..
I would love to build it but not to own it. It's too expensive and too large.
So anybody needs some help building it in the Netherlands. Just let me know!
You'd have to be an idiot to pay that for this...
Nope, doesn't do it for me, even though I'm a Star Wars fan. Nowhere near the wow-feeling I had when I first saw Ninjago City. Besides, I just don't have the space to but it on display.
10179 prices are definately taking a hit. Had two sellers email me so far this morning, i need to consider what my offer will be though before rushing in.
The more I look at pictures, the more I find her beautiful. It's esthetically a master piece no doubt about it. Really really nice and not "just a big mess of grey platic parts" at all. Great job of designers for the overall aspect of this.
One of the things about this is that the marketing people have managed to come up with a product description without describing anything as "iconic".
That aside, it's at utterly wonderful looking thing. As others have said the price is high, but set with 7500 pieces was never going to be cheap. I'll have to think about it for a while before deciding whether or not to take the plunge. I'd certainly regret *not* getting it.
Another comment on price. Sorry. :)
6999 DKK? More than $1100 / €940 / £860? Really? In the land of LEGO? I both get it, and don't get it. LEGO is charging exactly what they think they can get away with, but in this day and age, with online awareness, every Danish collector (which I assume are the target audience for this model) will know that they are being overcharged on an already too expensive model.
I wonder if Lepin has it's copy ready to hit the shelves...(Not for me anyway!!!)
I just got it...I know why it's called the Millennium Falcon...All related to price tag...hmmm...
Very nice, very nice indeed. Already mentally clearing a display space for this baby, it needs to be built!
As for those "investors" out there do everyone a favour and play the stock market, and leave this one for the fans. The value that the original one accrued was a one-off, the Lego group has shown that it will re-release/re-model sets to feed interest, thus putting the kybosh on the secondary market. Good.
Also, I'm sure the Daily (hate) Mail will put together yet another article with faux shock at the extreme price & trot out the tire old rubbish about Lego being a better invesment than gold, yawn.....
WORST. KEPT. SECRET. EVER.
Amazing, But $800? Pass. Although that Mynock might change my mind...
INSANELY UNDER-PRICED IN THE UK!!!
I've seen it on display in a LEGO store today. Awesome
For me it is unforgivable that the minifig C-3PO in gold chrome has not been made
Anyone knows how the box opens?
Normal flaps? Architecture style box? Top lid as e.g. 10030?
I want it. I can afford it. Will the wife say yes?
@iriz: Use the Force.
You can tell 75192 UCS Millennium Falcon is authentic. The heap of junk's dodgy hyper-drive has propelled the craft right through Master Wu. You can see his hat is stuck in the radar dish.
Amazingly impressive set. That said, I can't justify the $800 US expense.
I can't be sure but I think the Mynock uses a new piece as the base. It's like a 1X2X2/3 Motor Piece but with studs on all sides.
I know someone who built his own large 3D printer for less than $800, and is now making a profit from taking orders online.
Anyway, there is no way I'll be buying this set, but the pictures were beautiful to look through and I'm looking forward to building it in LDD when the instructions are available. (I can't be the only person who builds tons of sets in LDD for enjoyment, can I?)
@Ladondorf It looks to me like it might be the regular motor piece, but with an inverted 1x2 bow (https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=24201T=C) on the top covering the anti-studs.
Stop complaining about the $800 price tag. In Norway the price is NOK 8500, or $1100 :-(
For Irish residents wouldn't Addresspal work. That would allow you to avail of UK LEGO site and post to the An Post UK Centre and they will ship it to your local post office in Ireland for collection for the oversize fee of 25 euro. No idea if there is something similar for other countries.
@yuffie
Ok You got me!
LOL :'-D
Just saw there is a Blast Shield Helmet but no Luke.

MF on display at the LEGO Store in Cologne! Looks impressive.
As a non Star Wars fan I must say I am waiting to be impressed due to the hype. It was known that this set will come, but after looking at the videos and pictures I am not that impressed.. Thus.. in my opinion it is not a good strategy to have the largest Lego set as a Star Wars set, because to appeal to more people it has to be something less niche. Well I'm sure many will like it. In terms of details yes it's all there, maybe something I feel that it can be better, is that the interior can be more defined.
Been begging for this for years. Missed the first one in my Dark Ages and have been pining ever since. I promised myself if a new one ever came out, I'd buy it right away, no matter the MSRP. Now I have figure out how to justify it to my wife.
I don't get all the people moaning about the minifigs. Who buys a UCS for the minifigs? We have enough minifigs already. If you want Luke or Lando or R2D2 or whoever... just buy it off Bricklink and quit whining. I've always hated it when they put the best minifigs in the priciest sets.
As for price "gouging". It's not medicine, it's a luxury item. Take it or leave it. If that's the price it takes for them to go on a limb and make the model, so be it.
Brickset crew: When can we expect your wonderful review of this one? Would TLG send you one to scrutinize?
300, most comments ever?
Kids, I have sold you, meet your new father
I will be selling some of my lego collection for this.. totally worth it, though!
Just saw the UCS MF in my local Lego store. I asked whom was the lucky person to build the set and was told it arrived prebuilt and under wraps until the unveiling. I actually like it more in person and will be getting one once double VIP points are available.
I'm not usually a gambling man but would wager that the inclusion of the ESB figures suggest a shelf life until 2020 the 40th anniversary of that film. This is the first year I haven't purchased any of the new movie sets in September in anticipation of this beauty am so sad they shut the Birmingham ( UK) Lego shop down as now I will have to order online and I really wanted the wheely box, but it appears the only way to open that is to destroy the handle so a mint wheeled 75192 is going to be the scalpers choice so expect mayhem in stores on the 14th.
It's a great looking set, but like others have mentioned, I feel like there should be something special in it for all those who are willing to spend that much money on a single set, like some updated minifig prints, printed parts or a numbered limited edition. Including the Porgs doesn't feel right to me, as they are from Last Jedi, whereas the figures are clearly from Force Awakens. Han never met the Porgs. I can't help but feel that the biggest toy company and the biggest entertainment company should have added something special for all those fans willing to invest that money. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for everyone getting this and I'm not judging if you're willing to spend that amount, I'd encourage everyone also to please build this and see this as a toy and not let the box collect dust to resell this in 10 years. But I also feel like there should have been a little bit more for you guys in it, special minifigs, no stickers, limited edition, signed letter, free technic stand for the first 10,000 or whatever.
Just seen it in the brick and it's great however for £650 you'd hope they'd stayed away from stickers. But NO! Juniors is sticker free why not this?!? Stickers argh!!

Hmm, slightly dissapointed that they are making another millennium falcon... All the suspense for a set that they have already made too many versions of! Including one version that was supposed to be the "biggest Lego set ever" (10179-1). If they are going to put all the time and money into huge set I whish it would have been something they have never done before, like the jedi temple.
Sure, it's expensive, but no more expensive than the latest smart phone/tablet/computer.
@Brikkyy13
Sorry but justifying spending that much on childrens plastic toy by comparing it with devices people usually use for much more productive purpose is not really making much sense. Unless you plan to carry mf ucs with you as done with listed devices and not to leave it to collect dust once assembled…
@Kraken: obviously, this is not a "children's plastic toy" and was never intended to be. hence the term, "ULTIMATE COLLECTORS SERIES".
@Fr@nk
That's just marketing to make grown-ups feel better when fighting in kids store with 14 years old's for toys but actualy means
nothing, unless this product is coming without manual using baby steps for each brick used to assemble it :) Great marketing trick quite often used to feel buyers better and more gullible to justify mind blowing pricing, for instance pen producers are using fancy name for material "precious resin" instead plastic so spending money on plastic pen is acceptable. Such examples we learn in marketing classes btw. and based on your reaction lego is doing great job.
^Is it marketing? Yes. Is it marketing "just to make grown-ups feel better"? No, absolutely not. If you haven't noticed, this set contains 7,500+ pieces. So let me ask, have you ever seen a 6 or a 7 year old building something of this magnitude? Probably not, since this is a set made for the older audience.
Fr @nk is right, this set isn't for children, nor is it a standard toy, the fact that it costs $800 and weighs about 15 pounds says it all.
As for comparing the price to an electronic device, I'd rather have this. I already have a smartphone and a computer, so what do I need more of them for? I know a lot of people who will spend $800 on a new computer or phone, just because it's new, not because they need a new one. Not to mention this has resale value, a phone or computer these days will just go down in value, especially used.
Think of it this way: A new iPhone comes out, but you're old one still works just fine. Normally you'd buy the new one anyway, but instead you put the money towards this set.
@Coson
As a father of 9 year old child I can tell you that he was able to build any lego system I gave him in past two years, including couple ucs we bought. Only part where he need help are stickers as he likes them to be perfectly alligned. Nowadays lego instructions are perfectly suitable for children so dont overestimate your capability to follow lego instructions. Other question is if any child/parrent would even want box of bricks of that size and weight, let alone price.
Regarding lap top/tablet etc this is individual but I am buying new devices once old ones are obsolete and I mainly use thrm for work.
I can't believe I'm saying this but I'm underwhelmed and actually not that tempted to pick this up. *pinching myself*
@kraken: just because a child is capable of building it, doesn't mean that designed or intended for children. Right on the box, it says 16+!!!
for example, im sure your nine-year-old son can touch the pedals and steering wheel of a Ferrari, but that doesn't mean that it's a child's toy!
(') (')
-----
@Kraken: Fair enough, but after he's built this, what would he do with it? Most 9 year olds aren't going to admire a set on display; they'll want to play with it, and this set doesn't have anything in the way of play value besides moving some figures around a small interior.
I don't know about you but most children I know want the biggest toy possible. As for adults and parents, a lot won't be able to afford it, and most won't be able to justify it, but there are plenty of people out there who would be interested in something like this.
Yes, but what I think Fr @nk was trying to say was for some people they can choose between getting this or the newest, flashiest device. Not those of us who only get laptops/phones etc. when necessary.
Back in 2007/2008 I held my hand on the "order" button several times, but finally made the decision not to buy the 10179 Ultimate Collector's Millennium Falcon. I simply had no room for it, and yes, I felt a bit uneasy spending that amount of money on a single set.
I have regret that decision ever since.
Life is too short to miss out on a set like this, so I won't make the same mistake twice! I still have no plan for storage/display when built, but I'm soo looking forward to the building experience of the decade!
And how do you justify spending 8.500 SEK shortly after purchasing two Saturn V sets? What will my wife say? Will she file for divorce? No, she won't. I have planned for this moment for quite some time. I got her the 10214 Tower Bridge and the 71040 Disney Castle. With a total of almost 8.000 pcs. there can be no objections for a set with only 7.500 pcs...
Are there any photos that show the size against previous versions, namely the last UCS MF and 75192 and or 4504 ?
^The size of this one is the same as 10179, but I can't find any pictures for a comparison. Here's one of 10179 with other MF's, though:

Many collectors seem to be responding maturely to the challenge of purchasing and owning this set. The price has exposed the checklists we make to tick required boxes to purchase indeed, any set yet the inherent theme just increases this.
Is it a good model? Yes.
Is it a good build? Yes (no doubt!).
Does it hold good play value? Yes & No.
Is there UCS certificate, (flight posable) display, all mod-cons or any extras? No.
As such an icon of Star Wars are all crew available? No.
As the largest Star Wars set and Lego set ever is C3P0 gold chrome? No.
Are there completist or expansive interiors? No.
Do the stickers enhance or complete the model? No.
It is an incredible model and great effort but for the magnitude of such a release, why would you not go all out? Is it asking a bit much for that price? To adoring fans and collectors? No it is not. When you love something enough, you want to get it right and even more so on a purchase of this level. So close and yet...
I definitely want one of this set, however do you think there will be plenty sets available later in the year as i have already purchased the Saturn V & Old Fishing Store recently and could do with a few months off buying more Lego....
I would prefer to buy a set in December but will there be any sets left as i do not want to get stung from the 2nd hand market with inflated prices, i mean, it's already expensive enough in mainland Europe vs UK (additional €100 more in mainland)...
Any thoughts?
i forgot to say that the exclusive Han Solo figure should've had the second-class Corellian bloodstripe on the sides of the legs!
Just sold my 10179 to get this. I know the old one will always have a special place in my heart but I also want to experience the new one and there is no way I would ever justify getting the new one if I still had the old one. If not for the money, also for the fact that I simply have no space to display two of these beasts.
I've never purchased anything for an VIP early access so does that mean you can order online (I am a VIP) on Sept 14 and they ship immediately to arrive before Oct 1? Or you are just ordering online and they ship to arrive at the same day, Oct 1, when it's available to everyone else in the store?
