Friends Advent Calendar - Day 20

Posted by ,

We've had a decided theme of animals, hutches and sleds in this advent calendar, made with as few bricks as possible, it seems. So far, 12 of the surprises - fully half of the total calendar - have been devoted to those three items. Will one of these be behind door number 20, or will it truly be a surprise?

Surprise - it's a surprise! A pleasant one, too, in that it's Christmassy - you can't get more in the season than a Christmas tree.

I think this is a quite serviceable Christmas tree, with the use of a 2x2 round slope brick w/knob and a small 1x1 nose cone in dark green at the top. The tree topper is a transparent light blue heart. It would have been nice had the designers added some 1x1 round plates for ornaments.

I'm a little puzzled by the use of a magenta 2x2 plate in the middle of the tree, but I'm willing to disregard it since we have a real little build.

By in Iceland,

I may prefer this to the City one, more characterful, less blocky, and actual decorations (although minimal) on it!

Had another magenta plate been on the top of the top slopes, it may have looked like garland? Still, this is a nicely shaped LEGO tree. I like the transparent heart brick on top.

Maybe the magenta plate represents tinsel?

I will leave it in the box.
Maybe tomorrow we will get a better model?

By in Denmark,

I wish LEGO would make a star equivalent the heart that has topped trees and bottles so far. A decent star for the Christmas tree is needed.

By in Australia,

Yeah, that's actually quite a nice tree. I feel like it's a shame that it's actually news worthy of celebration when there's a decent model in the Friends advent calendar, though. Like, shouldn't that be the norm?
