City Advent Calendar: Day 16
Posted by CapnRex101,The last couple of days have seen two more small toys revealed within this year's LEGO City Advent Calendar. I am therefore wondering whether we will see another addition to the collection on day sixteen. I certainly hope so...
This rendition of a racing car is the tiniest toy vehicle yet, consisting of just seven pieces. Nevertheless, it is immediately recognisable as a racing car and the designer might even have taken inspiration from 60145 Buggy given the red and white colour scheme shared by the two models. I like the rear spoiler which is simply represented by a 1x2 tile and the forward rake is quite effective too, giving the vehicle a fairly realistic profile for a racing car.
However, the small scale has resulted in some significant compromises. The front wheels do not touch the ground which looks rather awkward and the absence of a visible cockpit is odd, although this is a remote control car so a cockpit is not vital. It might therefore have been nice to see a remote control included for the car. Hopefully that will emerge as an accessory with a minifigure at some point.
Overall - 3.0 - I like the shape and colour scheme of this model, particularly since it seems to have taken some inspiration from a current LEGO City set, but certain areas of the racing car lack detail.

I agree - it's a nice idea, but this feels much weaker than the other toys in the calendar, which have all been excellent. Previous Advent calendars have also had better renditions of RC cars. So far I'm amazed by how good this year's calendar has been, though a couple of the gifts have been a little lacklustre.
I was pretty disappointed with the toy car. There have been some good models, including the great little gingerbread house. But given the size of this, the lack of any detail and how the wheels are not level, I think this is a contender for the worst model in the whole set.
I didn't know you can connect wheels like that.
Very disappointed with this car. I know there are limits due to the small number of parts, but this one is appalling...
