Christmas Build-Up: Day 16

Posted by ,

The last few days of this countdown have been absolutely fantastic, with two impressive mini-models. Can Day 16 keep up, with only eight more nights to go?

This bird-like creature is a lot better than the one that came much earlier on. I like the techniques used, and the color scheme is very reminiscent of a turkey - commonly eaten during the holiday season on both Thanksgiving and Christmas.

The aforementioned color scheme is also very attractive, with a balance of cool colors and the use of some rare 1x2 ‘bow’ slopes in olive green. Some Mixels eyes round out the model and provide some much-needed adorableness!

I don’t really like the random splotch of grey sticking out like a sore thumb, though...View image at flickr

Overall - 3.5 - we’ve taken a bit of a dip in quality again, but I can’t complain too much. Nicely done, LEGO!

I think a tan quarter-round tile would fix the grey problem quite nicely.

Fold the wings up to cover the grey. It makes it look much better

Yeah, the grey is definitely a bit weird, but this is one of the best models so far, that part notwithstanding.

the colouring is pretty close to a (european) Robin- not accurate, due to compromises from the parts available I guess, but good enough for me and very festive

Definitely another hybrid monstrosity. I am thinking some turkey/chicken thing crossed with a robin. I really dislike these animal builds since at this scale it is really hard to make them resemble anything decent looking.

Not really a Turkey or a Robin.
But closer to a Robin if the wings were brown.
