Star Wars Advent Calendar: Day 16

Posted by ,

Star Wars: The Force Awakens has dominated the last eleven days of the Star Wars Advent Calendar this year. I am hoping to see something entirely different on day sixteen, perhaps from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Director Krennic's Delta-class T-3c shuttle is one of my favourite vehicles from the movie so I am delighted to see it represented at this scale. The armoured exterior looks suitably intimidating and the pyramidal shape of the fuselage has been rendered very effectively using a combination of slopes and angled plates. I am equally impressed by the inclusion of a tiny cockpit canopy just in front of the dorsal wing.

The lateral wings are the perfect length in relation to the shorter dorsal wing and they are fitted to hinges so their angle can be adjusted. Unfortunately, these wings are not able to fold up to a vertical position for landing as they do in the film but I doubt that would be possible at such a small scale. Being able to fold them at all satisfies me.

Overall - 5.0 - This is a magnificent rendition of Krennic's Delta-class shuttle, making good use of some slopes and angled plates to accurately recreate its uniquely geometric shape.

Absolutely perfect model. I agree with you Capn on your 5 rating. The wings were a bit tricky to build for me. I really had to look at the instructions carefully. Just an example about how detailed and well-built this model is.

Agree with the 5 rating. Lots of pieces, a cool little build and a relatively big model as the end result.

Despite the constant falling over, it does look really good!!!

I like it. Hopefully marks a return to form for the calendar.

"I doubt that would be possible at such a small scale." What about micro-versions of the Imperial Shuttle? They can fold up to a vertical position. I'm pretty sure you could customize this one to recreate this.

Not a fan of getting gray pieces, as I thought the vehicle was all black. Otherwise, nice build.

Excited not to have to wait till next year for Rogue One stuff!

Have to knock off a half a point for the lack of landing position, otherwise another good newcomer that im sure will get redone in the next year ot three ;)

Is it just me? I did not like today's gift. I thought the instructions were poor and hard to figure out. I still wasn't sure if I actually built it correct before coming here and seeing the pic above. The clips attached to the wings are very loosely connected. IMHO, the proportions are wrong and as a result, I really had to work to figure out what it was. I would give it a 2 out of 5, but that is just my opinion

I am not as happy with it either. The instructions were a bit hard to see (too many parts, not enough space for the instructions) and I also had to take a look at this pic here (and elsewhere) to figure out if it was supposed to be like this. It looks quite nice once it's finished, but it wasn't as fun to build as I expected.

For some reason it looks a bit awkward to me.

I had some issues with it, too. Like ggfile said, the proportions just seem off. On the other hand, it does have some nice pieces, especially the gun piece the whole thing is built around, and I do like the way the fin is attached.

A great build although difficult to read the instructions (as these models get larger they get harder to work out what is what} Fortunately in someways its not my calendar - but my sons so I can look at the instructions on line to blow them up to work out how to build it and also see the final image so I can check it's right -
